A couple of things, interesting thread although it has meandered off topic. On a personal front. Aghast, I dont come on here to moan, I come on here to discuss all things Brfc. As an exile, not many of my licals are interested so I come herento chat. Thats it. A viewpoint based upon evidence is no more moaning than calling you a rose Tinter for praising the team after they have won. Moderation. My personal viewpoint is that the Mods here step close to the line sometimes. Whereas the IF mods allow just about anything to go there have a couple of examples in the short life of this forum where posts have been deleted, altered or threads moderated. A while back I was subjected to this, for no good reason I would contend, although I did privately agree to moderate my own sarcasm, agreeing that this was not being taken in the spirit it was intended. But I also had my profile tampered with, a moderator adding childish acronyms. Now we have a moderator altering the title of a members original post. This makes me feel uneasy, and then for another member to be told to go elsewhere "if they dont like it" just adds to that sense of unease.
Careful mods, you are in danger of making this forum look like a personal plaything.

RAS. Keep up the sterling work with this forum. You can get on the ground breaking bus anytime. I wouldn't make a fuss if you changed a few seat numbers! Great setting up the forum from scratch. Keep smiling mate.

The OP doesn't appear to have had a problem with the change. Originally it would have been interpreted as a Clarke bashing thread, so may have been ignored by some - now it's inviting debate.
Just my two penn'orth - nothing is going to be perfect, but the guys behind this forum work damn hard to give us a platform for discussion, debate and bear love.
I think DC will have us in the top 6 by Christmas!

With threads like that, critical without evidence, viewpoint based upon bias rather than fact, they very quickly die a death if members refrain from becoming personal. BUT its not for the moderators to determine taste nor stance, surely? Thats not moderation to ensure the rules are adhered to, thats censorship.

Hahahaha what a joke. Do you know why I changed it? To make it more like the OP. That's it. If you don't like it you are very free to go somewhere else. I don't think you should be suggesting members should be going somewhere else if they don't like this forum, and I think you are getting too defensive. I'll tell you why I think this. You had a great idea to set up an different forum to the Independent Forum after the Official Forum was axed. Originally it was full of friends and very much independent of anyone else, much more so than the so-called "Inddependent Forum", which is full of people with vested interests and history wth the club. And very interesting that forum is too. I post on there, but without much knowledge of the inner politics of what happened in the past. So sometimes when people post things there about off-field activities, they are shot down in flames by people who actually do or pretend to know much more about the inside workings of the club than I or many others do. So over the past few months a lot have gravitated over here. One great example is the Match Day Thread. We had about 12 pages here today. 4 on the IF. It's like the FA Cup Final. Watch and read what you want about footie, but always watch the Cup Final on the BBC. And always read the matchday thread with Cantankerous making us feel like we were actually there. Similarly with criticism. Oldie and Dinsdale and often KP are on here moaning about everything because they can see this is now a big forum for Rovers fans. Not just a happy-clappy we all love the Board laugh-in. Everyone now joins in. Moaners and tinters. I'm another one. I tend to post on here now more than the IF. A few months ago I didn't. I like the jokes, the funny pictures, the amazing optimism, and I also like to read the other side - the DC out, the NH out, the "we're doomed" stuff. And I can agree or disagree, and I can comment. And post a stupid picture without anyone saying "this is as bad as the old OF". You created this baby, Ras, and it has grown up. It has changed its character in the past 6 weeks or so as more diverse people have joined, and that is a sign of its success. I think you need to celebrate that, and congratulate yourself, and let go of the reins a little bit. This forum now has a life of its own, and doesn't need to be tinkered with. Let it grow , within the bounds of legal, decent, honest and truthful etc, sit back slap yourself on the back for a job well done, keep posting, and watch it grow. Some interesting points raised on this thread and encapsulated well in this post. Sometimes well intentioned actions can have unforeseen consequences. On the whole where threads have been modified, reasons are given to posters. This is pretty standard forum practice. Forums are a place to air all views, but not necessarily where we can say whatever we want! When a line is crossed I will try to act in a way that I would like to be treated to restore balance. The problem is, its a wavy, fuzzy line! Agahst is right, Gaschat is growing up and evolving. As Mods we must do the same, but accept that mistakes may be made by all members of our community, however well intentioned.

Sorry, I should have explained myself more clearly - I was trying to indicate that some people may not have bothered reading the thread, due to the original title. My take on it was that Ras was just trying to be helpful, giving a bit of clarification as to the content of the OP's post.

However, if I wrote a thread OP about something but had a title that was leading people to misunderstand my intentions I would think of it more as clarifying than censoring. I guess only the OP can really comment on whether they feel they have been censored?

The thing is, arent we old enough and clever enough to determine these things ourselves? On a lighter note, I understand you like wine. We are opening on September 22nd, just north of Bristol. If you like Gavi di Gavi, or deep reds from the Languedoc, then we are as one. Of course real ales from the Burton Union and more locally, plus ciders will be in abundance. Good honest food at your leisure.

As a gentleman, I felt duty bound to respond. Henbury and I have a date btw, Steak and Wine, and a good chat.

Thing is Tilly, I have an issue about sharing wine three ways. But a duet is definately on the menu.

Whilst i agree im finding the confrontational nature of one of the mods and a couple of posters a real turn off. If you want to contribute you basically get a load of abuse unless its a middle of the road comment. Whilst im clearly a big fan of forums im not a big fan of that.

I always wait until christmas, if we're 6 points above relegation it's bad in my opinion, anything higher than that and I'm willing to give the manager time, top 6 and I'm happy!

What on earth would be the point of sacking him? (apart from NH keeping up his average manager sacking record).
