Yes he was, to be fair it would've been insane not to at least consider one of the biggest clubs in the country. If a stable club with ambition comes in (see Norwich or others), then I don't blame him for going at all. I don't blame any manager for taking a chance if it comes along in the current climate. For Rovers its about setting ourselves up off the pitch over the next few years so that a manager leaving won't have catastrophic consequences. To be fair, we are a stable club with ambition. The only reason he would leave, is money. A stable small club with ambition but as an example norwich are a stable big club with ambition, big difference but hopefully no club of that size will offer him a job.

In case you missed it........ “I am a loyal person, and in that way I am very loyal to the owners who have supported me and the fans who have supported me”
“If I wanted personal gain I would have signed for Leeds in the summer with a massive pay rise, But that’s not how I work.”
“I want to continue here and keep working hard to get Rovers up the ladder even more. Everything about this club in the last three years has improved without a shadow of a doubt”
“That’s because I’ve been driving it and we’ve been driving it, the staff have been driving things forward to lose the ‘rag-arse’ Rovers tag that people associated with us previously.”
Darrell Clarke
Why didnt he stay loyal to salisbury then?

Why didnt he stay loyal to salisbury then? As a player and manager he stayed 5 seasons at Salisbury despite a very difficult financial situation and some very trying times. He was loyal and an an excellent servant to Salisbury. I know the former CEO at Salisbury and when he describes DC, the word loyal always is used when he talks about DC. In fact sometimes for example player selection, he can be too loyal for his own good. He also stayed 6 seasons at each of his league clubs which in this day and age is unusual. DC like all of us has faults but to suggest he lacks loyalty is unfounded.

I have voted yes to the original question, but I have voted with my heart and not my head. I truly believe that it hinges on the UWE getting the go ahead in the next 3 months or sadly I think we will lose him, I for one wouldn't blame him in slightest or bear any grudges if he moves on.

Can't agree with that. The training ground is in motion which offers tangible signs of the progression DC craves. Surely the question depends entirely on who, if anyone, comes in for him? Personally I'm not at all convinced that he's fashionable enough for a big Championship club to go after. I appreciate Leeds made an approach but Cellino's no stranger to making out the box left field appointments. Overseas and/or Premier League experience seems to be the flavour of the month at that level and I'd be amazed if he departed for another League One club. If I'm wrong and Norwich made an approach, I suspect he would be on his way regardless of a new stadium at UWE.

DC has a more or less free hand with us.
The Training Ground and hopefully a new stadium will have his fingerprints all over them.
He has a total control over the team too.
How many managers of his age and experience can say that?
I assume he knows the situation with the new stadium better than anyone on here and that's probably the key.

He won't want to stagnate though or even worse go backwards. It's a big summer for us as we have plenty of players to replace in the summer. As loyal as DC is and has had a fair amount of control here, he will know only too well that 1 season where the club goes backwards would lower his stock considerably. I have to say, having visited the Weston gas meeting, Hamer didn't fill me with 100% confidence that DC will be fully backed. This poll was always going to have more yes voters as some will be voting with their hearts. 20% is still a fair percentage for people thinking he won't be here. I would say I am about 65/35 he will stay. It depends on 1) Who comes in for him. 2) Will he get enough backing?

He will leave to manage a more ambitious club and im sure he will do well. The owner has spent sweet fa on brfc and if higgs had stayed we would be exactly where we are now in truth. If he stays he will become just another struggling league 1 manager with no money to spend but being blamed when we struggle. If Higgs was here now we'd be in the same position?😂How on earth did you get away with no response in 8 hours after this post?! Because nobody can be arsed to debate it?

If I'm wrong and Norwich made an approach, I suspect he would be on his way regardless of a new stadium at UWE. I tend to agree with you at the moment. I feel his inexperience with handling big budgets, higher profile players and his transfer dealings to date would probably work against him. Next season if he stays will be IMO his biggest test to date - we didn't realistically expect promotion last season and to finish in the top 10 this season is seen as great success. Next season the expectation will understandably be higher and most I feel will be expecting a top six finish - if he achieves that, his stock will certainly be very high - if he doesn't, well who knows. He has put a certain amount of pressure on himself to achieve this - so there may be a balance that he has to work out in his own mind - do I go now if I get the chance or do I wait and see and hope we can improve even more next season. My feeling is IF he gets the opportunity he will leave and I wouldn't blame him one iota. Equally IF the new stadium gets the go ahead and on the basis of that he gets a bigger playing budget to start building the momentum needed to reach the Championionship in 2/3 years that should be enough to convince him to stay and see his ambitions realised here.

Absolute rubbish ...if Higgs had stayed the Wonga loan would have been called-in, club would have gone into administration at least, no training ground, no revamp of medical team and a smaller budget. Your truth is absolute and utter rubbish and usual posted simply to upset people.

Its like jonestown on here, most people just in a utopian trance following wael and dc without question. Its bloody weird in my view They both get plenty of questions thrown at them at Q&A's & Open days etc but always answer them positively, what's the opposite assume they must have an ulterior motives even though all the evidence is that they are trying to do their best for the club? Although plenty of posters question whether the UWE will ever be built and also some of DC's signings but I guess you can't see those posts for some reason, anyway what do you propose as an alternative to what we've now got, NH returns and employs the out of work MM as manager?
