Blimey there are some real negative buggers on this thread. Why do so called 'fans' look into every comment made by the club/Wael/Harmer etc and twist it into Armageddon? The pitch/sprinklers/drainage are being done to support DC and his plans to have a go at promotion next season. The other bits are being done because Wael wants to have pride in the place and present it as nice as possible even if it is for just 2 more years. (as anyone does with their own home even if they plan to move in the future). UWE will happen, We are in the early stages of the best and most progressive period in the clubs history yet still some on here aren't happy unless there is something to moan about! Its the same few every time. They only seem to post on threads about the UWE and the owners..... Not too sure why.........

What on earth is everyone going on about??? get real chaps/lasses £100,000 or so makes no imprint into the £40,000,000 to £50,000,000 that is needed for UWE Let us be thankful that despite no chance of increasing the capacity Steve and Wael recognise that we should be as comfortable and the players as happy as possible in our current surroundings The thing is if it weren't for third party conversations with, and tweets from, the owner being passed on and repeated on here, anyone would think the UWE had been binned months or years ago. There have been regular posts on the OS about tarting up the Mem, yet none about UWE progress. Christ, it didn't even make it into the Chairman's end of year statement. The negativity and impatience of fans is entirely down to the club's lack of communication. Nope it's down to people not having patience. If there's nothing to update what can be said? When they do update us people moan that it's the same sh** from the last update, so they don't update us and people moan again. Can't win

The negativity and impatience of fans is entirely down to the club's lack of communication. We've gone from literally the worse board of directors in the club's history and yet still people moan that the new owners don't keep them informed on every little aspect on a massive project they have zero financial commitment to. We've been told August is when we'll know either way, why do people expect to know before then? In terms of the pitch improvements, do people seriously think that Darrell Clarke and his staff didn't have any say on it? Perhaps all involved determined that investing £100k+ now in the hope of even a marginal gain towards promotion is better than waiting a minimum of two years to move to any potential new stadium.

Has the pitch been much of a problem this season? we have a good home record and no games were called off by rain. Seems pointless unless... DC made reference several times during the season Maybe DC should concentrate on sorting out our away form. Changing the pitch just gives both teams more of an equal advantage. Rochdale have a shocking pitch and dont lose many games at home.

At least higgs kept us updated, albeit with lies, but he recognised how important it was to the fans. I really don't think wael realises how much his and the board's reputation is tied up in this. Seems odd to update us on the Mem but say nothing about UWE other than the Mem improvements go ahead irrespective. Poor PR strategy to say the least. What are you expecting them to say. Talks ongoing, trying to sort the deal before August deadline. I can imagine that update being criticised just as much as any other. We will know in a couple of months

Stadium upgrade grants from the football league. I have never said we should not pay a fee but if for free - why not - oh and by the way get your facts straight for once - grants are fine but not the whole story

My simple logic is that the owners want the club to be successful and want a return on their investment. Otherwise they wouldn't invest any money. They can only get a return by building a new ground as our break even figure is higher than max capacity. If they weren't going to deliver a new stadium then surely they wouldn't be spending on anything, as it would be dead money. Why build training ground, academy, U21 team, Mem improvements etc. if they can never get close to breaking even? They just wouldn't spend it.
So in a nutshell, the more they spend to make the team competitive, like Mem improvements, the more certain they must be of delivering the stadium. Surely. Or why bother?
My view, and I'm not in the know, is that when we hear something things will then happen very quickly, be it UWE or elsewhere. Based on same logic as above.

I havnt read through the whole thread but i think having a very good playing surface has suited our team very well and is part of the reason for our fantastic home record. Renovating the pitch is important in my view to make sure we maintain a top class playing surface so im well pleased with this news.

i think now is the time we have to be resigned to the fact, that unless we hear something soon, the UWE project to build a new stadium for Bristol Rover will be abandoned. No other football club in world football has waited to long to get a new stadium built. Quite honestly this is embarrassing and a kick in the teeth for all us gasheads who were whooping with joy 4 years ago. Since then we have had the lost fight with Sainsburys and now it seems that we cannot even negotiate with UWE. This Is a sorry state of affairs. I find it very strange that we now don't receive any news regarding the negotiations with UWE. Are they even talking to each other? I have a funny feeling that this is not happening. We have now been at the Memorial Stadium for 21 years, and I'm afraid, sadly to say, that we will never ever leave. RIP UWE STADIUM PROJECT....IT WAS NEVER EVER GOING TO HAPPEN! Oh my God this is so negative! UWE is going to happen, and the longer it goes on, the better the deal will be. If it was going to fail, we'd have heard it ages ago.

Was even going to start the line with 'Stupid question....' Some of the drainage system, maybe all the sprinklers could possibly be moved? Or maybe sold to another sports club?
