Very interesting to hear that DC has been given a top 6 budget. It annoys me when people make comments like this! How the * does he know? Has he rang around every other club asking what their budget is for the season and then made a league table up of them? Is that aimed at me or our chairman? As I was only saying what he said in the interview..

I guess that's the gloomy view is there an alternative positive view, as I can't listen to it until later? Not really, he was quite negative about the stadium, said that both sides will continue to talk until either side decides to pull out. Other than the stadium he was incredibly positive and optimistic. Well it's hard to imagine he'd be so positive about everything else if he wasn't also happy about "the elephant in the room" Maybe it's going to be a redeveloped Mem if they don't get the deal that's acceptable with UWE? So either way they are ok about investing in team and infrastructure?

I read what he said as "to progress, the mem is not good enough and we need to UWE to maintain our progress up the leagues".
If he didn't want championship football the budget would be sh@t, Because the budget is top six, that tells me the UWE is going ahead !

So either way they are ok about investing in team and infrastructure? I don't know, until august its all speculation. One thing I can't see the new owners doing is redevelop the mem, I suspect if the uwe deal does fall through, they will want to find a new site to build a stadium. If such a scenario does occur it won't be they end of the world, the new owners are 10x more equipped to deliver a new stadium than Higgs ect and what really matters is that the deal to move to a new stadium is good for the club. As for the rest of the interview, it was clear that DC has been given what he wants and will be staying around for the forseeable future. The playing side of the club has never been better. What was said about the training ground was positive too

Actions always speak louder than words, and recent actions are suggestive of a satisfactory conclusion to UWE. Perhaps even to the point that agreement has been reached and it's in the hands of the legal people to progress to a binding conclusion.

No one really knows what budget we have and whether it is top 6 or top 10 or anything. People might think they know and our owners will know if ours is bigger than it was last year. No one really knows how it compares with others. As the season goes on perhaps we might get to know a bit more but no one will ever know for sure. In the end it's what you do with the budget you've got not always about how big it is. I guess Sheffield U and Bolton and perhaps Bradford C were bigger than Burtons last year and had been for years and Accringtons will be amongst the smallest budget in league 2. But these clubs still do very well because they are well run, have a consistency in leadership and get value for money. When Steve H says what he says I think it will be more about keeping fans happy, about trying to keep DC happy and showing some ambition. Whatever the budget is I hope we use it wisely, with DC spending money as if it were his own, I'm pretty sure it will be! UTG!

From hearing that, the only things I got from it were:
- WAQ wants to sell the club on the quiet - They aren't prepared to back DC and he will have to make do with a shoestring budget this season - DC has been linked to several clubs and is likely to be off any day now
What a thoroughly sh*t time to be a Gashead.
PANIC!!

Was it mentioned in the interview that the pitch was being levelled. Is it even possible to make the pitch level, I mean removing the slope?

Thought it a very good interview and welcome news on all fronts. Hamer talked well about most things, maybe stuttered slightly at the UWE update ( I definitely think now that it won't happen as The AQs won't accept the same crap as desperate Higgs was prepared to agree to ) but it all felt genuine and left me excited about who we will be bringing in to the club. Interesting for him to compare our situation with Brentford and Burton but they clearly have a plan. Refreshing to hear positive honest words from our Chairman unlike in the past when you knew the Chairman / Owner was lying because his lips were moving !! The Brentford plan is they're having a new stadium built now. I agree with you that IMO UWE is not going to happen - very sad but where we go from here on that issue is anyone's guess. There is only so much the parties can talk about - it's very sad - we have a progressive forward thinking manager I just hope his ambitions are not curtailed. Even if we achieve promotion would DC be happy floundering in the lower half of the Championship - or indeed would the fans after the initial euphoria if we finally get there. Is there not a time limit on achieving an all seater stadium once promotion to the Championship is achieved?

Actions always speak louder than words and all recent actions point to UWE being "almost" a done deal.

I'm impressed that must of meant moving some soil. Has the tent been put on stilts or will periscopes be issued with season tickets

Very interesting to hear that DC has been given a top 6 budget. Must admit that when I heard him say that, I thought that he was meaning that Darrell thought that the budget was good enough to get the team into the top six which is different from saying that it is one of the six largest budgets. Must say that it was a very uplifting and professional interview apart from UWE. I am desperate for UWE to happen but now fear the worst.

Im sure the top six budget is based on what clubs spent last year in this division. After all, the clubs have all released last seasons accounts now, so its there for people to muse over.
