Quite positive overall. Obviously SH feeling excited about the upcoming season.
I Just need the UWE to be a certainty. Would love it to be sooner rather than later. The nearer we get to August the less confident and nervous I begin to feel about it.

The Brentford plan is they're having a new stadium built now. I agree with you that IMO UWE is not going to happen - very sad but where we go from here on that issue is anyone's guess. There is only so much the parties can talk about - it's very sad - we have a progressive forward thinking manager I just hope his ambitions are not curtailed. Even if we achieve promotion would DC be happy floundering in the lower half of the Championship - or indeed would the fans after the initial euphoria if we finally get there. Is there not a time limit on achieving an all seater stadium once promotion to the Championship is achieved? Don't be so down about UWE, talk is cheap as we know from the previous chairman. Actions always speak louder than words and all recent actions point to UWE being "almost" a done deal. "We will keep talking until one of us walks away" indicates it is far from a done deal.

The thing is UWE will know that BRFC will need a new stadium if they are to compete in the championship when they get there. So they know the clock is ticking and that come August Rovers will have to abandon the plan and look elsewhere to fit into a three year plan of getting to the championship. So the UWE have about two months max then they will have no stadium on their site. They will then need to come up with something else to use as a selling point to get overseas students especially interested in the them

Look at his demeanour it's the opposite of Higgs who said what we wanted to hear but his body language and generally defensive attitude said the opposite.

Or they could just sell the land for housing.

No landing lights, we are totally in the dark!! The least positive he has ever sounded about uwe. I get the feeling a mem redevelopment is coming. You really need a hobby.

Think he is just fed up with being asked about Uwe! Didn't he say negotiations are ongoing and happening as we speak?? Surely saying that is a good sign. Still working on it, still in talks etc. Why's he surprised we've only 3,416 seats it's not like he's running the club from Jordan? Sounds to me the UWE talks are going nowhere but there's no real Plan B if we do get promoted. A top 6 budget and a new training ground is pointless if we don't do something about a new ground/rebuilding the Mem PDQ. negative Nigel is off again, here we effin go

I think our need is greater than theirs unfortunately. Interestingly though with the election coming up if Labour do win (and I don't support labour) and scrap university fees, UWE might think again about holding their cards so close to their chest.

"If Labour win" I think we've got more chance of re-signing the snake this summer! Not sure if SH is simply playing the long game with the UWE, as why apparently give DC a top 6 budget and be about to submit big plans for the training ground if we're still stuck at the Mem for years. I guess if talks are still ongoing a deal is still possible.

If what HG says is correct then if the UWE sell the land for a shedload of money then they have to hand most of it over to HP , if so, leasing the land to us makes far more financial sense and this could be why they came up with the stadium plan in the first place, as they could have always sold the land for housing etc in the past for decent money.

It will also leave a Massive hole in their next years budget

Very refreshing and upbeat interview. Steve Hamer came across very well and certainly gave me optimism on all counts including the UWE. Already thinking about extending DC's contract and genuinely excited about some of the names we hope to sign. An interesting Summer indeed, like our Chairman I can't wait for the season to start. UTG!

Not read the whole thread but did SH say Liam Sercombe was DCs number one target?
