I can't imagine he intends splashing out transfer fees on too many newcomers, so that fits.

The thing is UWE will know that BRFC will need a new stadium if they are to compete in the championship when they get there. So they know the clock is ticking and that come August Rovers will have to abandon the plan and look elsewhere to fit into a three year plan of getting to the championship. So the UWE have about two months max then they will have no stadium on their site. They will then need to come up with something else to use as a selling point to get overseas students especially interested in the them
It will also leave a Massive hole in their next years budget Will they even receive any payments before the stadium is finished, can we even afford to pay them anyway until it's generating an income.

I imagine that is one of the issues stalling any agreement. If you were selling a house you'd want the highest price possible and the money within 2 months.

surely it will be number 1 target for that position? DC did say in his interview with Twentyman he had a list of first targets ,second and third, I interpreted the comment that he was One of the targets that is in the number 1 category. Meaning there are others that are his first targets, I think that make sense

Or they could just sell the land for housing. They could if they are broke and desperate for money ,otherwise its a very short sighted use of the UWE campus land.Once its gone its gone.....although didn't HP sell them the land on the cheap so long as it was used for educational purposes ? or is that an urban myth ? Selling at premium prices would see them having to hand over lots of dosh to HP. This could be one of the sticking points in the deal ?

I got the impression that he was being deliberately guarded to avoid a repeat of the landing lights incident.

HP certainly sold UWE the land, it says so on UWE's website. Whether there were any strings attached is another matter entirely. Our friends on OTIB seem to have been the first to come up with the educational uses only thing. What that does for its factual accuracy, is clearly a matter for debate.

How come he has only just recently found out the number of seats in the stadium?
Might not sound much but its something id expect a chairman to know to help with projected revenue?

I thought it was his best interview yet as chairman. The top 6 budget information was a joy to hear, people can quibble about it but it means a substantial increase in our playing budget and our 1st signing very much supports that imo. Regarding the uwe if its not right for bristol rovers fc then i very much hope we dont go ahead with the project. I feel more optimistic than i did before the interview.

Does not inspire much confidence when the Chairman is unaware of such a fundamental figure.

"You fell about laughing"? Any nervous comedy acts need to get you in the front row then, its bound to help their confidence to have someone who "falls about laughing" over a chairman not being aware of the number of seats in our stadium.

Quite positive overall. Obviously SH feeling excited about the upcoming season. I Just need the UWE to be a certainty. Would love it to be sooner rather than later. The nearer we get to August the less confident and nervous I begin to feel about it. The thing is UWE will know that BRFC will need a new stadium if they are to compete in the championship when they get there. I really don't think a football stadium on the campus is a particularly strong selling point to most students. Very few if any Universities have this facility and some work closely with the local professional clubs to satisfy their Sporting Degree requirements. This is a relatively cheap model without huge infrastructure costs. UWE have adopted that model and are satisfying their Sports Degree students with their long term partnership arrangement with the 'Sh!te', which was signed in March this year. The demand for University places is far outstripping supply - 'selling' this land to BRFC in any form may well curtail their capacity for their longer term expansion plans in other areas of education. If as some posters have suggested on here that there is not much in this financially for UWE, I'm struggling to see what the attraction is to them any more - it sounds to me that club are still just trying to convince them to 'sell' or whatever, but are not in a particularly strong position to do so without providing UWE with a perpetual revenue stream (car parking revenue et al), which was as I understand the unsustainable NH model. Again only my views and nothing to substantiate what I'm thinking. The flip side is we still have a financially unsustainable medium/long term plan if we remain at the Mem. Looks to me as though we could be starting all over again - and that begs another question!!!

Don't Walk Away Renee ,the Four Tops . Or maybe "Walk on by" Dionne Warwick. Or a promotion bash when we reach the championship; "Going loco in Acapulco" the Four Tops

How come he has only just recently found out the number of seats in the stadium? Might not sound much but its something id expect a chairman to know to help with projected revenue? Especially when so many seem to tell us that the previous board had completed full and extensive plans to build the stadium in place and not just some pretty artists impressions of what it could look like. I haven't listened to the interview because I don't trust Steve Hamer. Worst chairman we've ever had.

Take it from me The UWE are in need of some serious money due to the short fall in NHS money this year

So you find it funny that our chairman made a mistake. Tells me a lot about you
