I have applied for a matched funding amount (up to a maximum) of £250 from work - Broadstone Consulting Actuaries.
So with that, the Just Giving donations, the bucket collections and gift aid, I should meet the £1,000 target.
Many thanks to those who have donated, helped publicize and generally supported (or gave some banter on the day).
I won't do it again though. Athough I wore a long sleeve tee underneath, I have had to have a few showers to feel clean again!
Special thanks to Ash at work for loaning the shirt, to OTIB for supporting the event and arranging donations.
And a special mention to Bristol City, Bristol Sport and the Robins Foundation for completely ignoring my requests for a donation of a shirt for charity. Sums it up really.

The Player/Young Player of the Year presentation will take place before the match on Saturday.
I know some will want to see this and give their applause.
This will mean at least one seller will not be available for programme and 50/50 duty so you may wish to get there earlier to find an alternative seller.

It's very difficult to control, with players feigning injury and they just go down holding their heads with seemingly no contact.
The problem is what if a Lockyer situation happened in the 85th minute following a defensive corner when the away side are one up. There could be a very serious medical emergency.
There have been a few cases where players just collapse, or go down on their knees (Connor Taylor etc). If a ref played on thinking it was the dark arts, can you imagine how they would feel if something serious happened when every second of medical assistance is vital? Plus they would get absolutely slaughtered by fans, pundits etc.

I feel it's your duty to post again on here tonight. Just so we know you made it out alive. Yeah I'm alive! Seriously, it makes you proud to be a Gashead. Shows a real family club when supporters dig deep in their pockets to help ill young kids. Needless to say there was a lot of ribbing and good natured banter plus many few crazy looks my way. Many thanks to those who have supported the cause. It was quite poignant that my half time interview with Lance was just before the Nick Anderton interview. Good to see him looking so well. It shows the medical advances that have been made in recent years. I will be collecting on Saturday for anyone who forgot cash last night and you can still go to the just giving site - see link earlier in the thread. Many thanks. Dave

Well in around 12 hours I will do the deed in work.
I have a dentist appointment in the morning. I hope I have a filling and they give me some novocaine to ease the pain - of wearing the City shirt that is.
Feel free to have a once in a lifetime guilt free explosion of expletives in my direction tomorrow as long as you put a few pennies in the collection. (Not in the ground itself of course as we are a family club).
Ps Yatton, a pledge is a promise and I will be wearing a t shirt with your chosen expression underneath!
Thanks for your support. It is a good cause at the end of the day.

Since the conference season, I have done a post match 50/50 to raise funds to sponsor a young player each season.
Not sure if it was blarney, but Dave Bright told me they had to scrap the two tier sponsorship costs (younger players tended to be cheaper) due to image rights etc for first year pros instigated by their agent.
Not sure if that is part of the reason the youth team don't get a mention in the programme.
Absolutely agree any agents fees should come from the player not the club.
I work in pensions and in the early 90's bad financial advisors got easy commission to help their own wallets, not to help their clients. You can see the same sort of thing happening in football. How many promising kids make the wrong move based on crap advice from their agent.

Dave, When is the deadline to donate? Will the link still be active after the 16th? Pretty sure the link will be available for a while afterwards. The company I work for, Broadstone Consulting Actuaries, have a matching fundraising policy up to £250, so that will take the amount over £600. In addition, there are pledges to donate after I do the deed and there is an ongoing collection in the BRSC matchday shop, so hopefully in the end, I should not be too far away from the £1,000 target. Please can you pass on the fundraising details and the just giving link to friends, family, work colleagues and fellow Gasheads. Many thanks.

Knowing this forum, this thread is going to go on a tangent!
Anyway, is anyone willing to assist me next Tuesday v Cambridge when I wear the (apologies for profanity) City shirt for charity?
Just needs a bucket shaker really, and someone to explain my actions (otherwise the men in white coats might turn up) as I will be busy selling programmes and 50/50s, and being a mere man it is difficult to multitask. Storm Kath made it nigh on impossible on Saturday.
Someone suggested I should be nominated for Gashead of the month (as advertised on Twitter). Not for me to say, but if it gets extra publicity on fan hub and more money raised for Bristol Children's Hospital then all well and good.
I suppose if my mate Robbie Sparkes never started Raise the Roof, I would never have got involved and a lot of you would have been very wet more often without the Blackthorn Roof, so I have been fundraising for the Gas for over 25 years.

Voting slips are available at the SC shop if you wish to vote for your choice of player, young player and goal of the season. While you are there you can get yourself some sweets, buy a programme, a Superdraw 50/50 ticket or just browse the various items available to purchase. Dave is there no way the supporters club can get an online voting form up for this? Genuinely not a swipe but having to go and get a piece of paper from a cabin. write it down and fill it out feels a bit dated. You’d get at least double the votes if the slips went online. I think it is. Try the SC website for more details. I got a feeling on line only relates to SC members though so all other fans need a paper vote. Don't quote me on that though. I'm not on the committee anymore so not ITK, but just pass on anything I think would be of interest from the SC website Still, if you go to the shop you might pick up a bargain purchase, or the winning superdraw 50/50 ticket!
