GK Plumbing, 0117 956 4912. Got details from Fishponds Voice. Turned up on time fixed to toilet leaks and charged £85 labour (less than an hour) £24 parts. £21.85 VAT. I would recommend. Thanks looked at the reviews on Which trust a trader and they all seem very good. Cheers.

My Mrs has to have an operation so I will be unavailable to sell.
Is anyone available to help the SC/FC as a one off for an hour or so?
Probably falling on deaf ears, but if you dont ask....

No I am not talking about Dwyane but he will be remembered for the penalty and celebrations v Everton.
Is anyone on here a registered plumber or know a good one? I got ripped off by a so called mate and need someone to fit a shower unit and various bathroom improvements/repairs in Staple Hill.
There used to a Blue Pages guide (similar to yellow pages) where Rovers fans in certain trades could advertise and you would hope you would get a decent service as you were helping a fellow supporter. Not sure if such a thing still exists.

Wingers

A lot of talk about the level of excitement on the pitch recently and a few people are mentioning GC as a good win ration without playing sideways. For me a really talented winger just raises the excitement level. I was extremely fortune to watch Mickey Barrett. "Skin im Mickey" was one of the first shouts I heard at football. At the Mem, Archie (Lee Archer) was unlucky due to injury. Very underated in my opinion but he played in the Twerton era when defenders were allowed to tackle. How many times under Wardy did he and Worrell do a great defensive job before sprinting away and creating a chance on a plate for John Taylor. Wally Walters is for me the best winger we have had at the Mem. Just different class. Wayne Carlisle was a very good player in an average team and again very underated. Atkins was good at spotting players, so it's a pity he missed what we already had. I must admit I was gutted when Tom Ramasut was allowed to leave with Lockwood and Hayfield. His goal v Wigan was outstanding and the way he waltzed through the Brentford defence, it was like Georgie Kinkladze! Really surprised he did not go to have a good footballing career. Lockwood was an outstanding crosser of the ball 2/5/95 for Barry Hayles last gasp header is a prime example. I know football has changed but the simple task of a keeper throwing to a full back, to make a few yards before passing to a skilful winger just gets the crowd going. Hopefully Mangs is reading and we can speed up the process so Cox gathers and quickly throws to Hunt who gives it to Thomas. Defence to attack in a few quick decisive moves. showing my age here but an old friend of mine played for Walsall and he said that whenever they came up against Rovers - the instruction was always to hit Mickey Barrett with a hard tackle in the first few minutes or he would skin you as the match went on. Incidentally you forgot to mention Percy who could be great on his day Wouldn't forget Percy, O'Connor, Ollie or Pounder. I was meaning how there have been so few wingers at the Mem in the league. Monkhouse was quality but still a wide man but not a skin em type winger, but the Conference season we had Gosling, Balanta, Dawson and Della Verde who could beat a man and get in a cross. Wingers since have been few and far between and have not had much of a look in - Alex Henshall for example. I wouldn't say Bodin was an out and out winger but still very exciting to watch.

Just bumping for info.
In response to Gasdust, I'm not sure how many turn up at Begbrook tbh.
In my day, it was generally 50+, so always a profit including raffle money.
Trish who used to organize events at the Mem tried to make sure as many events coincided as possible. If you remember the old lay out of the clubhouse bars it was possible to have such as the local referees association meetings at the same time as the SC committee meetings, private functions, happy hour and weight watchers.
The problem was that invariably they all took a break at half time of the sky match so there was a few in the queue at the bar.

Alan Ball, Richard Ayoade, Joanna Lumley and Lennie Lawrence all have in common?
Nothing really, but their books have all been donated to the SC.
If you would like to bag yourself a bargain, or have little time for Xmas shopping, why not pop into the SC matchday shop for a browse at the next home game?
The shop also has Rovers related merchandise, football programmes from teams throughout the pyramid and sweets for the kids.
If you have some unwanted football related books or autobiographies, why not donate them to help fundraise for Rovers related causes?

Upcoming events include a visit to Bristol Blue Glass (14th) and Laycock Garden Centre (28th).
Also on the horizon are a visit from a local animal sanctuary and Christmas carols and Christmas meal.
If you are aware of someone over 65 who would like to attend the Community Trusts Extra Time club, see the CT website for more details.

Incredible, I thought it was like a handful, I don’t know 50 staying away?! I rattle on about business on here, another example why you need to listen to your customers, do surveys, Tesco and Starbucks (incredible re this coffee chain) both turned their business around. I praise Barton, he made us relevant again, for a lot of wrong reasons but people knew who Bristol Roves were again mainly because they would say, Joey Barton manages them! Could we say 200, 500 fans returned yesterday? Not sure about that many, but if you look at the number of threads on here recently there is a lot of interest in the club at the moment. With the news about the new redevelopment and a hard fought win, the club should try and at least promote the kid a quid and the magic of the FA cup as much as they can.

Thursday 16 November 7.30 at Begbrook.
Just my opinion but if we are redeveloping the Mem, we have to bring social events back on site.
In my committee days it was repeated that the stadium had to be self sufficient and be used 24/7.
I hope that things like the Blue Generation and former player association meals, SC GK quizzes and the SC Player of the Year events return sometime soon.

A chance to see the youngsters under lights at the Mem.
Only a few wins away from the big boys.
Seems like ages ago we hosted Liverpool in a really entertaining 2-2 draw before losing on pens. Elliot Richards scored twice. I remember their keeper being nearly on the 6 yard line when he made the winning save.

Just bumping these as it might get lost with so many threads on here at the moment.
I noticed yesterday an Alan Ball autobiography has been donated, which would be interesting to read on his thoughts as a World Cup winner and his time as Eastville.

Just a reminder it is quid a kid as well, so a good chance for your son or daughter to tell their mates and introduce them to the Gas.

There definitely were a few.
I would say about 15 people tried to pay for a programme or 50/50 from me with cash and not all of them were away fans.

The SC are looking to organize a football book sale before Christmas.
If anyone has some books they no longer need that are in good or perfect condition, then please pass them on to Jamie in the matchday shop.
It doesn't have to be Rovers related, anything from Charlie Buchan or Rothmans annuals, or Steve Claridge or Pele autobiographies, all donations welcome.
Many thanks.

My Dad said he was heard on the news that there was a sponsorship event featuring volunteers cycling from Yeovil and Exeter's grounds to the Mem to raise funds and awareness for DarbyRimmer.
He didn't catch when it was taking place, but I have not seen anything mentioned.
Might be an idea to bring some spare cash, just in case it is being held tomorrow.

Ethan Clarke is the clubs new marketing executive. (Not sure if the title means he is an exact replacement for David Bright or not - head of sales/ head of marketing) Anyway, I sent him a few suggestions and he has replied and advised that in fact some of the changes were already approved. Already that's an improvement on the previous incumbent! Obviously to come in and look to make changes mid season is not the best time, but he has already said he has looked at the matchday programme and a few quick win improvements are in place. He seems open to suggestions, so if anyone has any ideas which can help the club, please let him know. It is an important role, so let's hope he hits the ground running. What’s his email address? ethanclarke@bristolrovers.co.uk I think he is looking to promote the Pirate Pots and player sponsorship initially, so anyone interested in helping the club through these initiatives should contact him for more info.

Have you met the new owners yet? If you have what are your thoughts on them. They have been deathly silent since taking over and it would be nice to have some kind of contact from them with regards to where the club is heading? It would also be nice to know if the situation has changed with regards the redevelopment of the mem as it was always said being not a viable option. Thanks. I left the committee before relegation to the conference, so am not involved anymore other than selling on a matchday and have not met any of the owners. I am not sure if they are attending the SC AGM, but supporters can ask their questions to at least Helen and Steve face to face.

Just thought it might be worth a shout contacting Ethan Clarke at the club.
There used to be that "advert" that used to appear from time to time explaining what the FFSC did and how much it raised etc
I get the impression that they want to better utilize the Pirate so a page on there explaining the FFSC, would be better than some other "fillers".
It might prompt lapsed Gas Chat members, or just someone who wanted to help Nick, to make a further donation?
