Cheers

Just a quick reminder that if anyone has any spare football items or kids toys/ books etc that they no longer require, then why not donate them for the tombola?
My Mrs will be happy that the 200 or so prizes collected for last year (that I couldn't attend) will finally be removed from our loft!

Anyone have the time or inclination to help Rovers?
As a former committee member myself for about ten years, it is not a job for the faint hearted. Lots of time and effort devoted, not much thanks but it does truly help the club we all love.
There are always people who with the magic of hindsight say that "it should not have been done like that", or "I could do something much better" (Santa's Grotto or Fresher's Fayre) etc spring to mind, but now someone out there has the opportunity.
I think everyone can agree Chris did a fantastic job with the SC website. Remember the one or two new articles every fortnight that used to happen?. Perhaps a youngster with an interest in web sites/ media could help out? It could look good on a CV.
Not all the committee sell programmes/50/50 so if you can assist in any way, I would guess even in an "as and when" ad hoc capacity, that would be of some help.

Item 1) a couple of tickets from Eastville including a match ticket for the last ever derby at Eastville. Ticket calls it A Christmas Derby but it was postponed and we drew 1-1 in one of the last games at Eastville with John Scales scoring.
Item 2) a BRSC man of the match award during the last season we were in league 1 in 2010/11?
Item 3) A young child's (2-3 year olds?)blue top with a white skull and crossbones image on it. (Its not a Rovers related tee shirt but it looks pretty good all the same and good for you young Gashead to wear during the holidays
Google Bid on the side BRSC for a link to the details on ebay and more info.
All profits to the 50/50 fund.

I think it is a good ideal.
It would be good to watch the game with a few of the playing squad/management/staff. I can't imagine they will all be on holiday.
A month without going to the Mem. This would be the perfect way to get your fix (and help raise some revenue for the club).

Don't forget there is a Ska Special entertainment in the clubhouse after the game. Its FREE entry.
Also there are a few programme/50/50 sellers short ( and a bumper programme as well!), so I don't think I will be able to sell at the Welly or Drapers Arms.
Don't forget the programme sellers want to see the game as well, so please try and get to the stadium quite a bit earlier than usual). (I keep missing Ollie's and Billy's quick starts as I'm still selling!)

As it is Easter it had to be done!
This weeks Bid on the Side items;
1) Signed Jermaine match worn shorts from last season.
2) Children's GK Jersey from a few seasons ago, signed by Lumley, Mildenhall and Puddy
3) Chelsea v Man Utd FA cup final programme. This is a bumper edition programme as the first FA cup final at the new Wembley. The Rovers connections: along with Chelsea, we featured at the Millennium and Wembley that season and Scott Sinclair was in the Chelsea squad.
Google bristol rovers sc bid on the side for a link.
All profits to the 50/50 fund. I am waiting confirmation from Jamie but we should have made over £700 from the BotS feature. Many thanks to the people who have made bids and donated items.

Lots of things happening this month, as well as games. Might need someone to double check, but I think the list below is pretty accurate.
Mon 10th April - 1883 club sponsors draw.
Mon 17th April - 50/50 Superdraw (possible £2k up for grabs). PS remember the paper £5 notes are soon removed from legal tender so if you have any, why not have a flutter as they are going to be worthless soon anyway!
Thurs 20th April - open training season at the Mem 9.30-1pm inc SC Player/Young of the Year, Goal of the Season awards presentations.
Later that evening it is the SC General Knowledge Quiz in the Clubhouse. 7.45 start £1 per person entry, cash prizes to the winners.
(I think!!) Friday 21st April - England schools international at the Mem
Thurs 27 April ex players association meal (I would guess contact the FC if interested in attending.)
Sun 30 April free entertainment in the clubhouse featuring Simply Ska after the Millwall game.

The club have organised a band after the Millwall game.
"Simply Ska" will be appearing in the Clubhouse. Perfect for any fans of the Specials, Madness, the Selector, Beat etc.
And it is a Bank Holiday the next day, so we can eat, drink and be merry and (Quite a few people) will not have to get up early for work the next day.
Well done to the club.

Item 1 Charles Buchan monthly magazine's and folder.
Again kindly donated so no cost to the club, but Jamie have said these are in very good quality, especially when you consider they are around 40 years old.
For youngsters you can read what it was like when England were the World Champions! and can marvel at the pictures of the pre-seating stadiums.
Item 2 A Rovers Beanie Bear. I think the Beanie craze was very popular around 5-10 years ago, so this might be popular with a non Rovers fan who wants to add to their collection.
For Rovers fans, could be a good chance to give as a present to their better half or child.
Bidding ends next Sunday tea time-ish. Google Bid on the Side Bristol Rovers Supporters Club for a link.
All profits to the 50/50 fund.

Any donations can be made at any time.
If anyone has any decent non football related items they can be used for the raffle at a general knowledge quiz ( next one Thurs 20 April).
If the items are specifically for the tombola or Bid on the Side just mention that they are for Dave and I am sure that they will quickly ask me to pick them up. (Especially due to the lack of space and post season stock takes).
Many thanks for the donations over the years and the entries in the tombola. I might try and get THREE new shirts as prizes for this years Fun Day, rather than the usual one home and one away shirts in the previous tombola's.

I know it doesn't have the same ring as Last of the Mohicans, Tango in Paris, Supper or even Summer Wine, but after organising the tombola at the Fun Day for x number of years, I think this will be the last one I do, due to work and family commitments etc, plus it would be nice to attend a fun day and have a pint and a pie in peace!(usually the day starts at 6 to get the stuff transported to the men, double checked and put on display).
Glad to say since taking over Ralph Ellis, I have never made a loss and probably at least 30 people have won brand new shirts for £1 or £2 entry.
If anyone out there has any Rovers related items, or football in general that they no longer require, please pass them on to the SC matchday hut, the SC portacabin, two mile hill rd or pirate leisure. Good condition books, DVDs, hat scarfs or other merchandise would be great.thanks.
If the item might be worth a bit more than the £2 tombola entry, it will be put on the Bid on the Side.

Why not have a FFS meet up in the summer. How about the England v Scotland game (June 10th?). If it is held at the Mem, a few players can be invited and the club can profit from the bar takings and food.

If you Google "bid on the side BRSC Busby Babes" it will give you the up to date link. At the moment its yours for 99p! ( unless anyone's else bids for it in the next week of course!).
Anyone at the football programme / merchandise fayre at the Mem today might want to give this a mention.
