Ipswich Town have announced the signing of Kayden Jackson for an undisclosed fee. Good news that we won't be facing him on Saturday. The bad news is that they can buy 3 or 4 quality players with the £1.5/2M they are getting and they'll all want to make a big impression tomorrow, it's a bit of kick in the teeth if he has gone for x3 or x4 Harrison's fee when he was in a division lower. Hurst as clearly decided to take the cream of Div 1, it'll be interesting to see how that pans out. The cream? Ummmm. Toto Nsiala? Wonder if their fans are moaning that all he's doing is bringing players he has worked with, and a player he's seen many times. And all unproven at their level.

I feel like they're genuinely more interested in player-trading and making money that way, than they are interested in building a winning team. Don’t know the ins and outs of their training complex etc (or if they even have one), but I’d imagine they’re building foundations for a sustainable Championship club. I’d snap anyone’s hand off for Wael to turn us into a mid-table ‘player-trading’ side that makes enough money to finance a stadium re-development! One of the best posts on here for a while. Football has changed. The plucky little clubs who make it into the championship on loans, serendipity or maybe an exceptional manager soon come back down. It's like eucylyptus tree growing fast but it has no roots. The only way now is to be upfront & say that we need to do something like you've proposed / the Brentford model (similar).

Shows what a crazy world football is at the moment.
A club with a billionaire owner, liquid assets available, a decent stadium and no complicated ownership structure cannot keep their best players, even though they don't even need the money.
Heaven help us if we ever get there.

We opened the Conference season Vs Grimsby Town.
Just saying...
I'm as frustrated as many of you are (especially for trg facilities, my big bugbear) but could be so much worse.
Most of us felt the summer transfer business was pretty good, and the club had already tied up players they wanted to keep before Easter last season.
EH put a spanner on the works but I think today has pulled it back to acceptable.

Good questions. EH was bad timing. No real suspicion people were sniffing around. Hard to plan around that. Not easy to replace. Its been quite well know that scouts were watching him during the second half of the season, I've said the same myself on here. The club will have known that for sure. Yes but you of all people must know that there has been an explosion of scouts, analysts, online resources, moneyballers, databases, researchers, number crunchers, opta fanatics, academies, coaches, personal trainers etc. The list is enormous. Every player is heavily 'scouted' and analysed all the time now, and not always by an old man in a dirty raincoat.

A guess a loan is better than nothing and he may possibly be a little better than Telford but I don't think you'll see the shed-load of goals from this lad that some are expecting. Don't think we done that well on the striker front to be honest. Think today has pulled it back to acceptable. Still got loan window, lone to buy option, free agents, and engineered free agents (like Craig & Bennett). And maybe even a surprise from within, be that a certain player who surely can't make less impact than last season, or younger players coming through.

Time will tell, but the questions for me are: Is Stefan Payne an improvement on Ellis - is Gavin Reily an improvement on Rory Gaffney and is Alex Jakubiak an improvement on Dom Telford - the only improvement IMO is the Club's bank balance. Are these signings moving the Club forward - I think not - I hope I'm wrong. Good questions. EH was bad timing. No real suspicion people were sniffing around. Hard to plan around that. Not easy to replace. My feeling so far is that it's unfair to expect Payne to be an improvement on EH, that Reilly could well be an improvement on Rory (bit of a gamble), and that given the lack of impact Telford had (rightly or wrongly) Jakubiak can't really be a backwards step. Fair to assume EH and Rory were quite high earners, although 2 new lads could be as well.

I give up on the manager, chairman and owners what a shambles this transfer market. Sold players but refused to sign players of same quality. Who the F##k is payne, a no one, desperate signing and the other one from Watford not worth a mention Management and owners you keep looking after yourselves. I used to have respect for the manager but that's now gone. Good luck to you Gas but I am finished with you now, please send them back to Jorden were they belong and tell them to bury there heads in the sand as always. The Anchors. F**k off to Trashton Attack the post, not the poster. Ban please mods. Oh...😗

Went up to the men earlier and had a quick look around to see how the bars were progressing, The new members bar (Bristol Room) looked a bit of a mess and stuff in there, but this should all be cleared for Saturday. Still no TVs put up. The new main bar is still some way from being completed and not sure if will be finished in time for Saturday. But I was told some people will be there tomorrow in an attempt to get the bar functioning for Saturday. The Guinness bar. What a mess at the moment! This is a few weeks from being completed and will be smaller. I think it will be to small for the half time orders that was done in the old Guinness. Still work to be done everywhere. UTG Help me. I'm confused now. Not been to the new shop yet, but I believed it is in what was the Guinness Suite (i.e. next to the old shop, under the main stand).

I tweeted Tom G about it a few weeks ago. Will be publicised in due course. I get the impression they want to get the intial card system sorted and not have everything going day one Very sensible. And offering a free pasty on opening day would not be good.

Transfer deadline day is so stressful that they will probably want to have a rest then! Maybe Saturday was just the best time to get them in the same place at the mem, DC lives near Southampton so that could be tricky for a Thursday night unless it was a phone in. I would have thought DC had more things to worry before our first home game than to appear alongside Wael on a radio programme, I'm assuming the show will have to be pre-recorded? I think a little clarity is necessary. GT's 'having a gas' show has not moved. It is still 6pm on Thursday evening. Not 100% clear what this Saturday interview is & whether it is fully live, fully pre record, or a mix. Maybe someone else knows. GT does the Saturday sports show & could play prerecords or do live. They can be done live via the commentary position (as I have done in past) or could potentially be via mobile phone or even a small outside broadcast unit. Wael is at the game on Saturday & at Ash's game on Sunday. Whether he is in the country / area on Thursday I do not know. DC does indeed live near Eastleigh.

Think its worth remembering that no one really knows anything about the proposed signing of Payne other than what was on social media and in the BEP. There is a tendancy to read these things and assume they are factual which is not always the case. No word at all from the club (nor was there re Bakayoko) which is how it should be until anyone is actually signed. If only that were true. Ken Masters (a BRFC Board Member) apparently told a whole coach load of the supporters club about Baka. And although he didn't give his name, Steve Hamer (BRFC Chairman) gave out a lot of details on Radio Bristol when co- commentator on Saturday. When the head of media is away the mice will play [excuse the dramatic license...😂 KB actually reported to SH]

Being serious...
A matchday programme is being produced & although it won't be as good as before, it will get done and, as usual, it will have my two articles in it.
Vitalijs Astafjevs & Sergio Ommel are the BRFC / BRFPA guests at the match on Saturday, & will be on pitch at HT etc.
