Not sure if I'm allowed to be serious on a forum, but Darren way is actually a pretty clever bloke, just let down by a monotone that makes him sound thick.
Had an interesting life & career; one that sets him up well for managing in the lower divisions at least.

f**k that noise. I hope we have the good sense to withdraw our offer. Harsh. Not the players fault someone else is interested. He has to talk to both. Would be crazy not to. It might also be about style of play, how the club comes across etc. Doesn't mean he won't be raring to go once he decides. The saddlers fan wrote that he didn't get as much game time in second half of last season, and they had played him as a lone striker mainly, so all that could be very important to him. Reading about devante Cole was illuminating. He was only 6 months into a 2+ yr contract at Bradford when he went to Fleetwood because he and his dad felt it was a better fit for his style. What does a club do? Force him to stay? Or Let him go, possibly knowing he could turn out to be worth a lot more in future? Does the whole incident make Cole flaky? Money grabbing? Weak? Afraid of challenges? Or was he brave, self assured and assertive?

The team who have agreed the fee average the same home attendances as us. Suppose their owners may actually put some money into the playing budget though It's not that simple though is it? They probably have better facilities than us, which Is generating a much larger income than ours. It's obvious we're in a fair amount of debt too! Honestly attendances don't really count for too much nowadays if owners are/ are not in our case prepared to pump money into the playing squad there's not a lot we can do about it. I think you're all right on this issue. Attendance counts for less these days, but still important at the lower levels. And how much money an owner is prepared to put in and how much transfer fees are allowed to be reinvested is critical.

I think the game will decide - if we get turn't over by the smallest club in the division then he could be a bit of a sour reaction form the fans Seeing as Stanley always do us 5pm Saturday should be fun! Certainly are a bogey team although we beat them 5-1 under Mr Magoo, and beat Burton 7-1 the fortnight before (??)

There are loan options. That window stays open longer. You can do a loan deal that is effect a transfer with options to buy at the end of it. I just don't believe it's loco or no one. This is exactly right. There will be plenty of options - Jamie Cureton was a loan to buy when we initially had him. Plus, like o2b says, we can loan til the end of Aug. and just make it a "Loan" that becomes perm in the Jan window... everything sorted, see... Not a good example to use though. JC didnt even know about the buy clause. He wanted to stay at Norwich. Came to us on loan to try to impress the canaries, plus obvious linkages to Bristol sweetened it. Did so well we said we want to buy him & after a bit of squirming from canaries who wished they'd not made that agreement, we signed him mid season. That obviously wouldn't be allowed today.

So now we should enter a bidding war for someone that no one wants? I used to get frustrated by this forum but it's turning into a right laugh! no f**k him,he’s lucky a club is interested with his record Desperation signing all along,6 4” but wallsall fans saying he can’t head the ball I quite liked gaffers but his heading was shocking, including a miss against D&R that would have meant we never had that Lee brown moment You rarely get complete players at this level & when they're close they get snapped up elsewhere.

It’s not the owners fault that this particular player hasn’t joined us. I’m sure both us and cov offered him a competitive wage but being Birmingham based and having his mate join Cov last week, you can see why they were such a lure for him. A shame really as I think he’d get much more first team football for us rather than them. What is the owners fault however is leaving the striker search till very much the last minute and not giving DC the backing so that he has had to cross many names off his list. Considering we recieved £900,000 for Harrison and Gaffney combined and we have increased ticket and food priced, this is simply not good enough. I’ve no longer got the faith that the owners can successfully handle our transfer dealings. Not all players are available at the start of the window. New managers and new players coming into teams means clubs don’t know they don’t need a player until their business is done. Price increases is always going to happen when prices have been frozen for so long. Without the owner we would be lucky to be in the football league instead we have the biggest back room staff we have ever had, a strong under 23 team no other manager in recent history has been backed like Clarke. Patience is needed board has only been here 3 seasons give them time, or most in here could all be sadly predictable and pathetic by keeping moaning and bashing everything they do so they leave and we end up in a right mess. Sadly reading this foarm I believe most would like that to happen. Sad Trouble is that we have the best manager for a very long time but we are pushing his patience. I personally had quite a chat with him at the BRFPA dinner and although the fire in his eyes that the club under him have "one more promotion in us" is palpable, it is also being held back by 1) infrastructure and 2) selling forwards. That's the simple truth. Trg ground is a relatively simple infrastructure project. The longer nothing happens the longer it will take to catch up on that front. Is the hyperbole that we are "lucky to be in the football league" helpful? wael was humble enough at the time to say that the promotion to Lge 1 owed nothing to him / the Also has said that they beat off competition from around 10 other potential buyers. can't have it both ways.

Bristol Post saying Coventry bid 200k, we bid 150k. If that's right then we were right to walk away. Bidding wars are pointless, especially for unproven players like this... Doubt it works like that. If a club accepted our offer & allowed the player to talk to us then we do, and if player agrees we sign him. He also though has the right to choose cov. Doubt cov now have the right to refuse to sell him at that agreed price. He also has the right to reject both & stay in his contract at walsall.

So even letting kids in for a quid is now something to moan about. What the hell is going on with our fans this year. This really is getting rather painful. No disrespect but do you have kids / brought them to the mem. One thing that riled a few people is that the OP was accidentally wrong. Under 11s are £1 just for this, very minor, cup match. The cheapest matchday tkt for kids that age is £5 for family terrace. Cheapest elsewhere is £10. A couple of positives. - the £5 tkt above is cheaper than last season if you paid on the day (it was £7 potd, £5 advance) - STs are very cheap. IMO tkts for casual attendees are expensive. My personal experience of bringing a couple of 4 to 7 year olds is that it wasn't worth £7 for a terrace with a relatively poor view. Not even worth £5. Small kids should be a couple of quid at ALL terraced football. Seats I appreciate can be a problem as not all grounds have loads of spare seats, including our own. The catering / queues / food selling out & them not putting a sign up, were all very poor. The kids zone outside was very, very ragbag rovers, and not as described in the match preview. Getting kids hopes up is a killer. Sadly family terrace not 'policed' - loads of young men on there who shouldn't be there - some maybe by ignorance but a steward should help out kids who can't see. I know Hugo & I know that his son is a massive gashead & they are in a territory that could easily be gas. If city are mopping that up we're in trouble.

The 6ft 5in Greek lad Athanasios Papazoglou was on trial against Melksham. We could be going loco with Papazoglou.. No, the azoglou's are silent in Greek.

To be fair to GGMI, this "news" was on Facebook at 9 o'clock this morning, so he's not exactly divulging a secret. Imagine the stick he would get on here if the deal does fall through, and he then posted that he knew about this hours ago but thought he shouldn't post about it on here! Haven't been on FB this morning Tilly so was unaware of this. My source was elsewhere. Not really a source then is it. Was on Facebook earlier, then twitter & BEP.

Let’s hope they have other irons in the fire. If not, welcome back to League Two I’m afraid. This also makes Ken Masters seem a little foolish, blabbing about the deal to gasheads at the services on Saturday. I guess he thought it was a done deal. It’s all getting a bit embarrassing. Not a good start to the season. Having watched us on Ifollow on Saturday, I can quite confidently say that we won’t get relegated this season, even if we don’t bring anyone in. That said I don’t think we will be particularly successful if that is the case. I certainly hope we won't even flirt with relegation but early games are hard to tell. If someone lost on opening day last season to shrews fans may have thought 'christ, were crap if they beat us'. And vice versa for bury, yet look how their seasons progressed.

Not sure I've got time to wade through 8 pgs to find out if he has gone elsewhere or is just still deciding...
Can anyone sum up...?
BTW - footballers are human. If he goes elsewhere could also be due to family, friends, cheaper place to live (or not move house!), feeling he'll get more game time at one club, for ends already at a club... Etc.

Lambert after we sold Agogo. So ten years ago then. Imo we've done what most League 1&2 sides would do, sold a player for a tidy sum and then spent a bit of that bringing someone else in and the rest disappears in keeping the club afloat. Do people honestly expect us to go out and spend half a million on 1 player? I know Andy tillson a bit and he's amazed he's still our record signing. Over 25 years later.

Absolutely right. 9 goals in 93 games. But it’s not just about looking at previous goal records when signing a player? You look at what attributes they will bring to the team and their age, height ect. Some players thrive in the right environment, take Jack Marriott for example. Oi stop trying to fool the forum with your science & modern tomfoolery. You'll be looking at assists, km ran, fitness, lifestyle, and character next. He's a wizard I tell thee.

I'm so bored of that excuse. He's played in a team with wingers, with Harrison and with Gaffers. He's played as one up top, 2 up top and in a front 3. Just exactly what style of football suits him? Table football??? Were you at the game today ? I can see what both of you mean. Total respect for watching him today, and what you saw. I doubt anyone is ignoring your belief. Hugo is obviously fustrated, as we all are. I could have easily written the same reply as him. I totally feel like that, even if he has played 'well'. People used to say about Jamie Cureton 'all he does is hang around, and score goals'. Bit of a sweeping statement but Ok, yes there were times JC seemed to do little but he DID score goals. Against any type of defender. He would find a way. Exactly the same stories could be told about a lot of the strikers in our history, from penny (too small..), Bruno (clumsy), lambo (unfit), walker & miller (too slow), kuffour (just jinks around a lot), BUT all of them would have games where they shined, games they found their niche, games they used the 1 or 2 special bits in their armour to do something, and games where they adapted. I still have never seen what 'special' skill Nichols has. Not a poacher (JC, snake), not that fast (Hayles), not strong (Bruno et Al), not particularly clever (lambo, walks), not someone who provides loads of assists , not someone who holds the ball up / back to goal (Billy oceon), not an all rounder (lambo again).
