Again, as Tuesday, head says were going to lose by the odd goal, due to a mistake, and best we'll get is a draw, but the heart says the improvement under JB, and from the first 30 minutes at Charlton, will see us score enough goals to give the boys encouragement to not make mistakes. Forever hopeful, but more often disappointed! UTG

Heart says a sneaky 2-1 win, but head is saying the best we'll get is a 1-1 draw, or worst scenario a 2-0 defeat, while all around us get points. Urrgh! Please let the heart triumph tonight! UTG

Well, my head won that one!! We only just got away with that. After Rodman went off we seemed to lose our shape and impetus we started the second half with!!Oh well, a point is better than none, which it could well have been!

Well that was as my head expected it after Tuesday, but my heart wasn't very impressed. Wimbledon look to be doing to us as we did to Accrington, with the high press, only we aren't still trying to play it out, like Accrington, and they're marking our outlets (Ayunga & Nicholson) very closely. Hope for an improvement?

When McCormick got sent off, it wasn't just the Burton game it ruined, but him missing from our midfield helped to lose us the Hull one too. I think you'll find it was two crap decisions from, 1st Leahy not hitting it into row Z and 2nd Kilgour going for a ball that Harries was going for, leaving us wide open at the back, but apart from that you're right.

Got to admit, but I'm feeling almost optimistic about this one and hoping for a 2-0 win! However, it's the hope that kills you! My heart says a win with Ayunga and Nicholson to score, but my pessimistic head says it'll be a 1-1 draw ruined by the wind. I just want the other saying to be true and that 'hope springs eternal'! Didn't want to post on the Accrington matchday thread in case I put the 'Jester curse of Accrington' on the team! Probably safe now?? Great performance last night, with Ayunga deservedly MOM, although I think Rodman ran him close. Westbrooke also had one of his best matches and I think JB has found the best position for him higher up the pitch. The 'high press was extremely effective against Accrington and you can see that teams at this level struggle against it. Upson had a good game, replacing Grant, as did McCormick returning from his ban, although there were still signs of the 'impetuousness of youth' there. And, as the commentators said, the amount of defending back that Sam Nicholson did seemed to be something that JB has added to his game. The defence looked more solid with Baldwin back in. I think he might become another TC, because him and Kilgour seem to have a 'better understanding' than Ehmer/Kilgour or Harries/Kilgour, although with all of them there appears to be a mistake waiting to happen. My only problem is the number of goals that go in at the near post. Maybe this is why Day hasn't progressed as people expected. He looked unbeatable for Newport against all sorts of strikes and there is no doubt he is a good shot stopper and appears to command his area, but I seem to remember in the Quest round-ups in his early Newport days, seeing a few go past him at the near post. I hope I'm wrong, because he's the best we've got until Jaakola gets fit(?). I'm now looking forward to Saturday and I haven't been able to say that much this season! UTG

Our performances have been improving, we feel hard done by by Burton, we tend to play better against better teams and Joey has a bit of history with McCann generally out performing him tactically .... I’m going for a score draw or narrow win.... head says 1-1 heart says we win 2-1.... we won’t lose.... (see us get battered now!) Get this one right and you're doing the Match thread for the rest of the season!

Come on Rovers!!! Head says we'll lose. Heart and gut say we'll get something. Not up too early then. I was thinking as I went to bed, shall I, or shan't I, but thought, no, I'll leave it to some other mug after Accrington. Sounds like you're going the same way as me with head and heart? Can't say anything other than I totally agree with you! Heart says we might scrape a draw, but head says 3-0, or more!

I didn't see it had already been put up and yes I did start the last Matchday thread, meant to put it up last night but fell asleep in my chair watching the lovely Charlie Theron kicking ass on the tv “Fell asleep in my chair” bluddy hell Granddad! And there I was waiting for GNSOB to start it, so I wouldn't be tempted after my Accrington success! Going for a 'heart says', 2-1 tonight, as long as Jordi doesn't have a 'mare'. Otherwise my head says a 1-1 draw. The 'Barton Bounce' continues and I don't mean the opposition manager off the wall of the tunnel!

Good luck with the op Russ, and here's to a speedy recovery. 2 - 1 win for the Gas incoming. We got that one right Tilly!! Wished we hadn't with those last few minutes!! Just hope Russ is fine and happy after the op? My MOM was Westbrooke. Best game I've seen him have in the shirt! The defensive midfield pairing of Grant & McCormick are looking better every game and I think that we have to look at keeping McCormick at the end of his loan, Currently he covers almost every blade of grass, every game. Harries looked far better today and his distribution is looking as good as was expected......as long as he can cut out the odd mistakes? Got to agree with most that it was probably Hanlons best game for a while? Nicholson also looked more like the player he was before his injury. I don't what Joey said, but we definitely had the 'Barton Bounce' today, just hope it continues on Tuesday. UTG

Gonna miss watching my first game this season as i am due in Southmead at 11am for a double hernia op. Looks like Hanlan maybe rested today so hoping Ayunga & Daly can step up and take their chance and give us a much needed 3 points especially after Tuesday nights disaster. Going for 2-1 COYB, UTG. Good luck Russgas! Hoping for the start of the 'Barton bounce' with a 2-1 win, although head says a 1-1 draw. We cannot take another defeat! UTG.

So it appears my chance to be hero or villain has been restored. Gills away is usually a hiding to nothing but here goes anyway. I’ll be positive and predict a 2-1 victory with goals from Ayunga and Hanlan. Come on you blues. Don’t forget it’s a 1PM kick off. Never mind miltongas, it happens to us all! FWIW you still have a 50% win record which is much better than BG and PT! (and me and most of the other matchday thread creators). And you're not gonna get a matchday thread to 56 pages like I did for Accrington! You've got to be brave, or foolish, like me and GGMI to keep creating matchday threads (and I do admire GGMI for his persistence and continuing hope!). I wish I wasn't quite so so easily disappointed as I seem to be nowadays.

How dare he come on here and usurp miltongas's chance for fame and fortune by getting 2 in a row! Some of us know that feeling, but some of us are also brought 'down to earth' by the debacle that was Accrington Stanley! However, I'm going for a 'heart says' 2-1 win with miltongas, but a 'head says' 2-1 defeat, unfortunately! UTG

I'll take that! Much better, but against a team stuggling for form?? Still not sure what we need? Think we still miss the creativity of Ozzy, but can't fault the workrate today, apart from Liddle, who struggled until substituted.

Is this the official match day thread? GGMI won’t be happy lol! I’m going for a narrow win..... I think we’ll see a massive improvement (not hard) from Tues and a good reaction.....2-1 Gas I've been banned so didn't get a chance today. I don't mind as dont want to be the match thread Jonah. 😝 Nor me! Tuesday did for me for a while. Heart and head both say defeat. Heart says 2-1, head says 4, or 5-1! However, just to bring in another body part, gut feeling says we'll do a Wombles and win 3-1! 😂😂

The team should be built around this guy instead of playing lots of long ball and him having to feed off whatever happens to land his way which isn't very much. Tisdale needs to get a bit of enthusiasm for an attacking game based on passing and move instead of players standing around like statues. For this reason I would play Grant at the back alongside Baldwin who despite the odd "terrible pass" is our best defender and was superb against Peterborough. Give him the captancy. I actually thought Westbrooke had a reasonable first half and was very unlucky not to have two goals so would play him and Oztumer is the middle with McCormick playing as a defensive midfielder because he too has a bit of pace. I would play our best player Nicholson in a completely free role in front of Oz and Westbrooke and up top have Daly and Hanlon. Full backs I would go for Williams and Tutonda playing a back four as a back three has been a failure far too many times this season for Tisdale to continue using it. The goalkeeper I would just edge for Day as I feel he is the better all round keeper whose confidence has been hit by an absolutely pathetic defence. I do believe that we have good players and if we could turn around a couple of wins then confidence would start to build. We were unfortunate that when we hit form for a short time we lost our key players. We are down at the moment but not out. Most goals conceded have been down to Ehmer and Alfie, the former just hasnt settled in with us for some reason and Alfie whilst being "one of our own" is IMO a poor centre half at this standard who lacks concentration and if you havent got the concentration to mark opposing players then you need a bit of pace to rec over and Alfie , the same as Ehmer turns like the Titanic. To conclude I cannot see us avoiding relegation by going " back to the basics" as that is based on good defending which has eluded us for most of this season. Get the ball to Westbrooke and Ozzy and give them the benefit of three players in front of them and press the opposition to stop them playing. Agree with everything except Alfie (and it's not often stevek! ). Ozzy is our most creative player and Westbrooke plays much better when he's in the side. I am all for Tutonda, although, like Leahy, he has a mistake in him, he at least gets in a tackle and doesn't 'show him the inside' like Leahy did for Rochdale's second on Saturday. I'm not sure about Grant as he is not as good as Alfie in the air, but I understand your thinking about putting him in the back four as he's probably quicker than Alfie and is fairly good in the tackle. What has happened to Alfie in the time since GC left I don't know, or is it since Tony Craig left, because it seemed that the two of them had formed a good partnership. As I've said in other threads, it's a shame we haven't got Tom Davies, because a fit TD would be the answer to our defensive woes!
