We're at the stage where we could put 11 gaschatters out on the pitch and we would probably do just as well if not better! You can rule me out. I am not match fit after a month on the sidelines through suspension. Me Too! at my age i have a hard job passing wind no chance of passing a ball

This country is becoming litigious akin to the USA. How on earth can we have a legal system that supports "they said I was a bad manager and now I'm upset so I want some money please" All they’ve sought is legal advice so far. Could just be that the lawyers have come back and said no you have no case, and somehow its leaked to the press who have published it because the headline “Barton sued by ex managers” sells papers. Or it could just be a quiet news day

That is the most scathing public attack on a player I remember ever seeing from a manager of ours. I do agree with his assessment, but I don't think I agree with him coming out in public with it, it's certainly not the way I would manage. It's fine to think it and to say it to their face in private as to why they've been dropped, but airing it in public is only going to vilify him even more with the fans, and humiliate the player, which is totally unnecessary in my view. Not to mention it is a slight worry that he didn't get on with Max during their QPR days, and that he's carrying an adverse opinion of him because of that. I mean, Ehmer clearly did well at Gillingham and was their captain, so whatever is going on now needs to be eradicated without slamming his character in public. First thing I've seen from Barton so far that has worried me a bit. Perhaps he has exhausted all avenues ,nothing has worked and this is a last ditch attempt to mobilise Ehmer ?

Hopefully Ehmer has played his last 45 minutes for our club. He gives me the impression he just doesn't want to be here

Accy alwyas seem to be a bit of a bogey side for us, it will be interesting to compare tonights performance with the 6-1 thrashing. Maybe a good measure of any real progress.
For me 2-1 Gas tonight.

I’d have no problem the ref giving McCormick a yellow card for kicking the ball away, if every single ref booked a player for kicking the ball away. But we all know the next game a player will do it and nothing will happen. Because referees in this division are inconsistently useless and are never held to account for the shocking decisions they all make week after week. I can accept referee's being inconsistent , but not the referee being inconsistent in the same game. At least be consistently inconsisitent !

Pedantry alert: Mandy Rice-Davies. Another pedantry alert : For those too young to remember, even be aware of it, Rice-Davies spoke these words, not Keeler. In fact, Keeler didn't say much at all. Well, after all its rude to talk with your mouth full

In fairness he lso said "players specified by the manager " Had another listen - "Looking at opposition and making recommendations on which players should be brought in, and the strengths and weaknesses of the teams that we're going to play". Sounds to me like he will still be muddying the waters with regards to team selection. Maybe I've misinterpreted it? I think there is an awful lot of ambiguity in his interview as if hes covering both bases, I think time will tell on how long TW remains

Chewbacca I stand to be corrected on this, but the rules used to be if you took on another role you came off the payroll which would for DC be the case. The trick being if they want to stay in football and get re appointed it is cheaper than paying their contract up . Surely there were also get out clauses in the contracts so if performance was below a certain level there would be a reduced or non existent pay off. Yes, I guess you can put anything in a contract if both parties agree , but enforcing it is often a different matter after all the law is an ass

How many coaches do we need? 😂 The wage bill much be crazy in that department Darrell Clarke - 5 Year Contract - Expires June 2022 Ben Garner - 2 and a Half Year Contract - Expires June 2022 Paul Tisdale - 2 and a Half Year Contract - Expires June 2023 Joey Barton - 2 and a Half Year Contract - Expires June 2023
Tbf we have a lot of managers to assist.

It's quite interesting looking at the Post-Clarkian Dystopia we find ourselves in. Marcus Stewart was quoted as saying in October 2018 "Our DNA is playing fluid attacking football", this was a man with nearly 15 years of service for the club as YTS, Player and Coach. On appointing Tisdale, Martin Starnes said "Paul has a vast amount of experience in the game and has several promotions on his CV. His ambition and long-term goals mirror that of the Club’s ongoing strategy, to build a Bristol Rovers DNA". So, what is our DNA? What is it that makes Rovers, Rovers? Starting watching Rovers in the early 90's for me the Bristol Rovers DNA has always been about developing players that have come up through our ranks, been let go by higher clubs or signed from lower clubs. Rovers strength in the 80's and early 90's was developing our own. The likes of Mabbutt, Curle, Holloway, Penrice, Tanner, Stewart, Taylor and others all came through our system and ended up playing top flight football. In recent years Rovers had a core of ex-Youth Team players driving success with Lockyer, Clarke, Harrison, Lines and Kilgour all playing significant roles. When Ben Garner came in, we seemed to move away from that. Garner picked matchday squads this season where for the first time in over a decade no ex-Youth Team players were involved. You can caveat that with the fact he did pick incredibly young and inexperienced sides but the route for progression for youngsters within the club didn't seem to be there. Alfie Kilgour, Cameron Hargreaves & Michael Kelly sidelined, Ollie Clarke & Rollin Menayese allowed to depart and a raft of players who had impressed during pre-season loaned out. These were replaced by other youngsters who failed to impress and would eventually be sidelined by Tisdale. We now seemingly have a squad that's been cobbled together by two managers with a third coming into sort it. It's put together with a host of players graduated from youth teams of a higher level without the know-how or courage to compete at this level. There's a lack of leadership within the squad and at the football club which, will probably end up costing us this season. Ultimately Barton has been brought in to kick players up the arse, the board will hope he's an iron fist in a silk glove with regards to the style of football. Unfortunately we have a wishy washy squad ready for Tuesday afternoon matches on training grounds in Surrey against players their own age, not a relegation battle. There's good individuals in there, a lot of them but it's a team sport. If we do stay up it's because teams have been worse, not Rovers being better. Whatever happens in the next 20 games, the clubs needs to address what it's looking to do in the summer. A different generation, but watching the club from the mid Sixties our DNA has been one thing , and that is giving every ounce of energy and endeavour for 90 minutes , leaving nothing out there Win, Lose or Draw

Personally for a number of reasons I believe this is a good footballing decision to appoint him.
There is no denying he has had a chequred past but I believe the good book says something like he who has not sinned cast the first stone, I suspect there are a few on here ,myself included, who would like to change some things done in the past.On that basis alone I cannot stand in judgement of anyone.
So for me it comes down to this ,whatever he has done, not done or alledgedly done is in the past.
What he does from now on is what counts and if he were to behave in the same way as his past I would expect the club to dismiss him, surely to give someone a second chance until they prove you wrong is morrally preferable.
So ladies and gents ,please for the sake of BRFC give the man a chance, he might just surprise us

The problem is that Harries,Kilgour and Baldwin are all slow and for their size are not good in the air.All three unfortunately play well for 85 minutes but the other 5 minutes whenever it occurs is a bloody disaster. Absolutely agree with this, all three are good enough but not together, really need a no nonsense commanding centre back in between the two of them, and unfortunately i don't think Ehmer fits theat brief either

I've seen enough in the last two games to say yes we can stay up, we imo have gone from not having a goal in us to Ayunga,Hanlon,Daly, McComick and Nico all looking like they have a goal or two in them.
I think we will appoint a new man this week but would guess he will not be announced until after Tuesday so as not to be a distraction for the players prior to the game.

I agree, I like Leahy and I think he def needs to be in this side, but I have always seen him as a Wing half in old money and not a LB always in my starting 11. Its. NOt been easy this season in the left back slot as many teams main strength is down their right where he hasn't had much cover in front of him But he has kept going and never given up always looking for the ball and trying.to drive us on. Personally think be has a lot of qualities to play in centre mid Yes i think he is often unfairly criticised always puts a shift in, rarely if ever injured as i can recall
