I find that extremely condescending, have some empathy. Laughing at others expense is not a nice trait. we are all different, have different needs and go about life differently, as I said before people without Smart Phones for whatever reason (and there are many) maybe in a minority but should be catered for. We must see beyond our own perspective in life. Who said I was laughing. Donate £15 and I will make sure it buys a season card for someone in need. I have already identified the group that I would like to concentrate on first and interestingly, that group hasn't been mentioned yet. I want to fund season cards for our disabled supporters. So chuck some cash in. Stop moaning on a forum and put your money where your mouth is.

My 68 year old father, who doesn't own a smartphone, but has barely missed a home game in sixty years; specifically asked when renewing if he'd get a new card or if his current one would be reloaded. He was told everyone would be issued one with a new design (essentially to eliminate the possibility of someone who hasnt renewed turning up at 2.57pm with the 'old' card, claiming its a system error that they can't get and getting in for free because a queue is building up behind them and the turnstile operator not wanting to cause a scene). No mention of a cost involved. Of course the clubs needs to modernise, but when we barely got close to a sell out last season, we need to be as inclusive as possible and not create barriers to entry and it's just an all round sh**ty look doing it this late on. I get there's a cost to the club involved and I think a token £5 upon purchase would've been fine. I'm in my 30s and perfectly tech savvy, but usually print a paper copy when going to gigs/catching a flight so I don't have the anxiety of my phone battery randomly deciding to die, so I'd have happily paid this token fiver for a back-up; but it would stop the club losing money on those who trust their phones and would throw the card straight in a drawer never to be seen again. Does he have a phone at all?

Can anybody understand MT's comments about L1 being harder next season, surely if Bolton or Posh, join Pompey & Derby that'll be 3 of the biggest L1` clubs promoted? I can't see Wrexham spending anything those 3 do on players wages? The general view on here was in agreement, that was when Sheff Weds looked like they were going down. Rotherham, Huddersfield and Birmingham/Argyle Will they be as strong as the three going up? Then there is Stockport and Wrexham that in another post you suggested that they would be giving promotion a go next season. So, maybe it will be more difficult? All 5 of those sides can have bigger budgets than us, due to their revenue streams.

It's simply because I do not know anyone who doesn't have one. Elderly parents do/did elderly aunts do. Who are these people that don't have smartphones? www.careline.co.uk/technology/#:~:text=According%20to%202023%20statistics%2C%2080,(according%20to%202020%20figures). So, the people impacted are a % of the 20% of people over 65 that don't own a smartphone and go to a game either on their own or with another of the 20% of that age group that doesn't have a smartphone. Easy solution just offer cards free to s/t holders aged 70+ who require one?? Here is the solution: gofund.me/61c6a3c1

Tell you what, I probably have 20 smartphones in my smartphone graveyard. I can give them to those that don't have smartphones. This is the same faux outrage that we had over going cashless. I think you’re (for some strange reason) refusing to accept some people don’t have a smart phone/don’t know how to use a smart phone/don’t want to own a smart phone/can’t afford a smart phone etc, etc. we are not all the same! Minorities must be welcome. It's simply because I do not know anyone who doesn't have one. Elderly parents do/did elderly aunts do. There's no charge if you use your phone though. My guess is that this will impact less than 20 season ticket holders. Everyone else is just being outraged for the sake of it. People have been sold entry to every game, to change the T&C’s after point of sale is minging. I suppose as it doesn’t effect you you’re not arsed. They've still been sold entry to every game. That hasn't changed.

Who is this empathy for? Who hasn't got a smartphone? Not a case of who has a smartphone or not. Its about communicating and informing customers before purchase of an item - not after. I am quite OK with the change but can see that others may not be. I think you have hit the nail on the head. What are you buying? You aren't buying a card, you are buying entrybto every home game. Having the season ticketbon your phone doesn't change that? You are still being supplied with entry to games. So, why all the fuss?

There wasn't anyone on the Thatchers turnstyle for that last home game. If they say that cards can be used, I will happily throw mine into the mixer. I might be the only one who thinks this is a cracking idea. It's like: Gashead: We need modern facilities. Owners: We have just invested in the infrastructure to allow entry via mobile phone. Gashead: Nooooooo! When I said modern facilities I didn't want anything to change. Not seen a single person moan about anything but the charge. There's no charge if you use your phone though. My guess is that this will impact less than 20 season ticket holders. Everyone else is just being outraged for the sake of it.

Blimey, I find myself agreeing with you. 🤣 You're right, everyone is up in arms but it feels a little like being outraged for the sake of being outraged. There is some seriously 'Professional Offence' being taken by some on this subject. I remember them saying the current cards would work next season, they've changed the goal posts, half the time the man presses the pedal to let me in on my B and q card!😃 There wasn't anyone on the Thatchers turnstyle for that last home game. If they say that cards can be used, I will happily throw mine into the mix for someone to put their ST on. I might be the only one who thinks this is a cracking idea. It's like: Gashead: We need modern facilities. Owners: We have just invested in the infrastructure to allow entry via mobile phone. Gashead: Nooooooo! When I said modern facilities I didn't want anything to change.

I detect a lack of empathy from some which saddens me. Who is this empathy for? Who hasn't got a smartphone?

It’s not about having a smart phone (or not)….its about communication. Simples. Letting people know prior to purchase what the T’s and C’s are. Be it a ST for BRFC or anything else. Simples really…… What difference would it have made when virtually nobody will have to pay the £15? I doubt there's one s/t holder who wouldn't have renewed/bought a s/t if they knew the charge was going to be made. Blimey, I find myself agreeing with you. 🤣 You're right, everyone is up in arms but it feels a little like being outraged for the sake of being outraged. A few thoughts: Not everyone has a smartphone. Some deliberately don't want one because of their addictive qualities (it's no coincidence that the execs at Apple don't allow their kids to use one) Very much doubt that Ticketmaster specifically has anything to do with this. It's just the way a lot of Premier League clubs have gone, and not all use Ticketmaster as their default ticketing platform Smartphone tickets work well as long as the turnstile systems can cope. Arsenal went to a smartphone tickets system the season but had to delay KO against Fulham by 30 mins because of a turnstile IT failure Communication is everything - and the club continues to be generally dreadful. As many others have posted, why tell us now, not when the renewals were issued? The Supporters Club has at least one Director (Helen) on the board. Why were they not consulted ahead of this decision? This all rests with the CEO who continues to unimpress. Amazed that the relatively-new owners haven't sussed him out. I don't know anyone who doesn't have a smart phone. Even my olds at 87 and 84 have smart phones.

Support it in general. Disagree with charging those who don’t want them £15 extra for a physical ticket. Really disagree with charging £15 extra AFTER they’ve already purchased the ticket without detailing this up front. Really poor form. Classic Gorringe, though. That I can get behind, but the general concept is a good one.

No problems with this , digital tickets work fine for me. And if you're 89 struggling to work out how to even send a text? How many 89 year olds are season ticket holders and attend on their own?

Well I don’t know about the rest of you but I’m so glad that car crash of a season is over!! We’ve had seasons far worse, relegation to the conference springs to mind, but I felt it was a chance to renew when that happened and I felt optimistic of the new adventure of non league football. But this season was a season like I can’t remember in all the time I’ve been a gashead, I don’t know why really, maybe the disappointment of the end of August, knowing our chances of competing at the top end had effectively gone I don’t know. My thoughts on next season? ……… Let’s enjoy the summer ladies and gentlemen!!! It's weird aint it. We have just had one of our most successful seasons in league one this century and yet it does feel a bit flat. It must be because we got so whipped up into a promotion frenzy at the beginning of the season. Most of us (including me) were taken in by the best squad in modern history rhetoric. They may have been if they had played 40 games together but alas, the injury prone got injured. Or maybe as a club, we are better off being a big club in a small pond? My understanding with MT is that he wants to play on the front foot with a high press and pace in the transition. That is the kind of football that I will happily watch next season. Lots of chanting "Get into em..."

Well I'd agree with that. They seem to approach managing us with the same passion a new Building Society manager does. If that, even . . . You could spin this as a positive. If they are looking at it as a business, then we could become a sustainable one. While we are making losses, we are only a couple of years away from selling the stadium... (not in the know, before anyone hits the panic button).
