Did anyone struggle to get a seat with the South Stand tent? As a Thatchers person, I have no idea as to whether seats were easy or difficult to get prior to that stand being removed. Seats always usually sell out first, if we played a well supported side you don't even got the option of buying a seat in the South Stand, the SW stand seemed to be sold out for most games last season. I can understand when we play the bigger sides in the league, they bring more fans and we give them more stand space. I am surprised that last season it was difficult to get tickets. There always looks like there is spaces available from the Thatchers end.

Look, don't start bringing real world issues into economics. Economic theory is just that, a theory (ceteris paribus). The main point is that we don't make our decisions about going to see Rovers based on price. We base it on our feelings. That is the very reason why we still follow our side when they get relegated. Can anyone remember a time when we got relegated (so a lower quality product) and the prices got reduced? I don't, but still kept going to watch the lower quality product and paying the same price. Didn’t we hold prices when we got relegated? So with inflation that was effectively a price reduction. Inflation didn't exist in those days.

Surely the other issue is the club will be increasing the number of seats, at present it's a struggle to get a seat but if in future there's 10,000 seats you could probably get one quite easily for most games. True. But there's probably a decent chunk of supporters staying away because there's a shortage of decent seating in the stadium. And whilst there's plenty in the south end - I can't be alone in preferring to be in the middle of the pitch as although I technically don't have that poor eyesight I can't see the other end of the pitch from behind the goals! There's probably a decent amount who'd rather take a seat if there was better supply of seats at certain points in the ground that suited them. That is an interesting theory. Basically, you are saying "If we build it, they will come"?

The theory is taught very binary in that you can pretty much get away with putting up prices indefinitely on an inelastic good when in reality there is shades of grey. Technically football tickets are very much inelastic in that we can increase prices without too much recrimination but that doesn’t mean that we can indefinitely do so and we can’t get away with charging premier league prices unless we find ourselves in the premier league. And even then we’d never reach the ceiling of the globally known clubs found in London and the North West. When someone talks about the law of supply and demand, what they are talking about is price elasticity. As the price increases then the demand should decrease. However, there are some things that don't follow this behaviour. They are said to be price inelastic. So when the price goes up, the demand stays the same. Football is price inelastic, it doesn't really follow that if you increase prices you will lose demand. No. The point I was making is that some of us will have to pay more to see Rovers as they will have to have a seat. This doesn't prove or disprove that hypothesis. Supply and demand will dictate prices, the club isn't going to want loads of seats left unsold. Although if we ever get promoted prices will go up anyway. Couldn't disagree with you more. Football is Inelastic

Of course I wouldn't want us to lose. However a 1-0 defeat does show progress year on year. I'd certainly take a point right now. Only a 1 goal aggregate improvement, and Derby are probably weaker this season as last season they seemed to be in the top 6 all season.

Interesting. People can debate whether Widdrington was the right man and/or young Mr Hedges, but when the new owners talk about club staff this what they mean isn't it. Having these positions within the infrastucture of the club that aren't dictated by the manager It’s an interesting question with no distinct answer. So many of the worlds most successful enterprises are a one-man show. Tesla. Ryanair. The person in the top role has a huge impact on everything, why? Companies are a pyramid of decision making so the quality from the top is enormously important. It’s why they earn stupid money. We might like to think we could do it but few of us can. There’s a Chinese saying I think which goes “A camel is a horse designed by a committee” I.e the camel has the distance, the ability to survive, some speed…it’s like the designers tried to please everyone. A horse is more like a single Vision - get me something which goes well, that’s it. Any dealings you’ve ever had with large, old school industries: Banks, unionised manufacturing, anything in the public sector, will know they move at the speed of a lumbering pregnant cow and the myriad committees and bureaucrats paralyse everything in an orgy of ass-covering and politics. Light, nimble companies with one, or a few influences eat them alive. I’m not convinced on a committee based football club. The wriddlington, Starnes and Garner combo seemed to be the result of that. I know there is much, much ire with Joey and I get that, and there’s incentive there to pretend all was well until he got here but man, come on. It was a complete shambles from top to bottom. That squad was the most insipid, weak and purposeless shower of sh I’ve ever seen. Why? Someone had a job to look at stats and buy players off that. Without having anyone decent to do the qualitative work of understanding the player, their attitude, who’s carrying the dressing room. That’s the peril of moving from a dictatorship to a series of committees. Someone with a spreadsheet and “data” with the inability to look at the wider picture getting involved. I’ve seen these data people ruin several companies and turn a very good operation into a chatbot and outsourced admin conglomerate of sh** because no matter how well you understand data, you need a long career in whichever business you’re in to actually interpret it. Joey at least had that. If you plot wasp stings against ice cream sales you’ll see a correlation. Data analysts running ice cream companies would be aiming to buy and release wasps given a chance. That’s where it can lead! I don't agree. I think we were a goal scorer away from being top 10. That season, we couldn't score. So as soon as you concede you feel that you are going to lose. If Stockley had signed, we may well have stayed up with that squad. All about opinions though. I can't really comment more on this as I will be accused of JB bashing. However, when he came in and said all those things about the previous people in charge and players. He gaslighted lots of the fan base. We had survival in our hands, playing the teams around us and JB went missing.

Derby took 4 points off us last season, beating us 4-2 up there. Anything better than a 4-2 would be an improvement. So you'd be happy with a 1-0 defeat? if we are going to break into the top 6 then we've got to start getting results at their grounds, we've only ever really done that under GC in recent seasons. Of course I wouldn't want us to lose. However a 1-0 defeat does show progress year on year. I'd certainly take a point right now.

He says "keep part of it". What that means, we do not know. I think it is safe to say that some who are used to standing, in the future will *have* to sit. I thought the point was you were claiming Mr A didn't say that any of the terracing would be remaining? No. The point I was making is that some of us will have to pay more to see Rovers as they will have to have a seat. This doesn't prove or disprove that hypothesis.

What a truly silly statement, albeit two words. Say that in the chemo suite or to someone who has just suffered a bereavement or a veteran with PTSD. Two words that are just very poor to use imo I assume you've missed the "please move on post"? I interpreted the "Please move on" as move on from JB, rather than the thread itself. Would the thread need to be closed for people to move on from it? I think KP has a point. It's about the use of the term "Man Up". It is one of the reasons why rates of depression and suicide in men is higher than for Women.

Me too regarding standing at a football match. I have a feeling safe standing has been mentioned in the ground revamp. Am I imagining that, or have they really said it?? www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0gktmn5from 50 mins onwards Mr A discusses safe standing/the terracing remaining, although i sense he just meant terracing as there's nothing safe about the Mem terracing, in fact I'm not even sure it's allowed in the Championship, which is another issue if we now design the redevelopement around keeping the present terracing. He says "keep part of it". What that means, we do not know. I think it is safe to say that some who are used to standing, in the future will *have* to sit.

'Worst case scenario'?.Really? We are now 4 points off the playoffs and Mangs has had a dream start. Maybe not the best possible manager available in the whole football league, but worst case??? 🤷 AM's had a fairly easy run of fixtures, unless JB had really lost the plot, or the changing room, he could have well got similar results. It'll be interesting to see how we perform and also what result we get at Derby, who I assume will now want to make amends for the Crewe result, then the following Saturday we have a tough looking cup game. I can't understand the owner saying they want to basically appoint somebody with Karl Robinson's experience then appointing somebody with none! Although KB returning always pointed towards AM getting the job. Derby took 4 points off us last season, beating us 4-2 up there. Anything better than a 4-2 would be an improvement.

Thanks Pirate. It is the same interview but the BBC version is longer than the Rovers video version (which is a bit weird). www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0gpdlw8?partner=uk.co.bbc&origin=share-mobileAt 12:40 the question is asked whether it will be an all seated stadium. He says keep the standing our fans are used to it. However he then says keep "some of it". So, yes there will be standing at the ground once it has been developed. However, I wouldn't be expecting the same amount of standing as there is now. I get the idea that the Thatchers could have safe standing and then a section built on top that would hold seats. However, the residents behind the Thatchers won't be very happy with that as it is likely to obstruct their view over Lockleaze and the radio tower. The complaints for the South Stand was it was unsightly. The loss of a view may well have more weight from a planning perspective than just unsightly. Maybe one of the planning experts on here could add something? *Edit It is also mentioned that the BBC has requested two interviews and they received two interviews. Maybe this was a bit of a 'dig' at Wael? I don't think there would be much problem with the North Terrace and views. In the planning meeting for the South Stand one of the councillors said that he was on the panel for the last revamp of the Mem when student accommodation was part of it and was a much bigger stadium plan and they passed that so couldn't turn down the South Stand. If they pass planning on those bases and we go about it the right way there really is no issue. 🤞

The blame for what? Belshaw was a fantastic signing. Belly has gone from hero to villain to hero on here. Never a villain in my eyes. Quality keeper who did very well for us.

Maybe I am watching the wrong interview.Just watched this one again: No mention of standing or safe standing. Says next project is north and south of east terrace and then Thatchers and Cooling area. Anyone got a link to the one mentioning safe standing? "We are going to keep the safe standing. Our fans are used to it." www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/bristol-rovers-new-owner-plans-8866818 Thanks Pirate. Why would you say that? I thought signing a goal keeper on a free from Harrogate Town shows that someone somewhere knew he was a good keeper. He still is. The rush of blood I saw was mainly due to playing three at the back and pushing them high up the pitch leaving a gap between the halfway line and keeper for a cheeky ball over the top. Exeter got us big time at home last year using that tactic. Who knows perhaps he did and he's now taking the blame as it seems Belshaw will be off in January. The blame for what? Belshaw was a fantastic signing.

Surely you would rather have the benefit of those contacts and knowledge of keepers coming through at various levels, than not have them? If he is leaving for a better offer then fair enough, as a club they need to evaluate whether his 30 years experience can be let go without anybody else brought in to replace that know how. There's little point if we don't use them, I doubt he had any input in Belshaw's signing so what have all those contacts achieved in the last few years? I assume he's mainly employed as a goalie coach and I doubt we need him & Anssi just to coach Cox, perhaps somebody else as come to the same conclusion. Why would you say that?
