Predicted 4 nil defeat today, so not too surprised.
Doesn't help half the squad being injured, but we are very poor, very predictable, no real flare or pace in the squad.
Derby style of play is what Rovers should aspire to. Why is it that we can't seem to find the same sort of players.
One last thing, why did we give them so much of the South Stand. Should have kept them tucked away in the corner.

Didn't they suggest in the recent fans forum thing that the Blackthorn End would have an upper tier of seats and a lower tier "safe standing"? Yes, Abdulatiff did say that was a part of the plan. I've also heard that from two different sources. The same sources also told me the plan is to pull down the East Stand and rebuild an all seated stand the length of that side which will then 'fold in' to both the South and North Stands, although that bit wasn't confirmed by Abdulatiff! Absolutely needs to happen, the east terrace has to go.

Safe standing can be used in the championship as an alternative to seating, thing is whatever they do to the east it will be under cover like the new South stand. So fans won't be fully open to the elements, which was the point I was trying to make .Extensions should be built in a similar style to the new stand . This worries me a little. So you are suggesting the East remains as is and either side there will be 2 structures like the south stand. I hope this is not the case. Can we please just do something properly.

Fans won't be standing in the rain after the east side improvements will they . The club want to a stadium that will take championship football, well that means it will HAVE to be all seater. If the club do what I put in my letter's and TG at the time supported, then it will be two tiers running the full length of the east side with the front bit banked up with seats a bit luke the refurbished Dolman stand at Trashton . But when I asked TG about the stand recently he said plans were out for consultation to all interested parties, they have not been finalised yet . The owners said they are extending the east stand either side. There has been no mention from them about putting seats where the terrace is or extending the roof forward to cover the terrace. I don't think you could just put seats on the terrace as each step is far too narrow. I hope you are right, as I have bored people to death on here. The East side imo needs a complete rebuild and to be built from pitch level.

I agree ref the atmosphere. Hopefully going to be rocking on Saturday and only 58 seats left in the home area now. Loads of terrace places available though More reason that the new east stand has to be a complete rebuild. Nobody wants to be standing in the wind and rain every week. Can you imagine if they did extend the east stand as it is, there might be nobody on the east terrace.

For those supporters who are interested in how AWAY fans will be located long term at the Home of Bristol Football. This article from the Stoke City website is illuminating. They are keen to have HOME supporters behind both goals to improve the atmosphere for their team. AWAY fans are to be moved to a corner section. Our East Terrace area and the nearby seating in the South Stand is our best short run solution. www.stokecityfc.com/news/2024/march/05/potters-announce-atmosphere-enhancing-plans/Well that seems obvious to me. Already the atmosphere at The Mem have improved with our own fans at each end behind the goal.

Don't understand the obsession with safe Standing...its a nice to have and I would like to see it, but does seem to be something people are overly passionate about and if the ground was to be just seated it would be sh**e.
Can't wait for the Mem to take a big leap into the 21st Century, just to have it seated would be amazing.

Surely everyone can move one from comparing managers on here, whether is DC, JB, PT, IH or MT.
It's all a bit tedious.
Rovers are 3 points from safety with 11 games to go, happy days. Season is done and dusted.
Time to just look forward to the end of the season and hopefully a strong summer of recruitment.
And hopefully the East Stand plans are out before the end of the season.

I was there last night. It was a good meeting in all. Abdullatif was happy to chuck TG under the bus for his previous operational mistakes and it appears hes become a bit of a PA rather than a CEO. It was me who questioned him on the finance side of his model for the club. My questions were how were the stands going to be funded at the ground, the training ground built/remodelled to Cat 1 status? His reply was a mixture of selling some land at The Quarters, investments from established partners and the owners own pockets. He said that his family have very good relationships with banks through their previous projects for low rates of interest on any monies borrowed. He stated the The Quarters is around 30 acres in size of which only 5 is currently in use. The plan is to sell around 5 acres for housing to fund the Cat 1 academy. I asked how much he expected to raise (3 times!) from that to go towards the project? He said it would be around £8m. I also asked him if the money spent was going to go on the clubs balance sheet as debt or is it gifted by the owners with the debt capitalised and he dodged that question. He was insistant that infrastructure was the key to building us as a ready made PL club which is sustainable in the championship. My impression is that The stadium is what is important to the 3 year model, EG, start building next year with the hope to be there by the time the stand is completed with the TG a much longer and larger project. I also detected that if they go get to the championship with the infrastucture built it is where these owners will exit and get their money back. Just my opinion, but thats my impression. He explained the pricing structure well, but it still isnt satisfactory in some area, especially with the kids pricing. Abdullatif blamed the lack of seating and facility but that still doesnt equate for the pricing model for getting kids into the ground especially with the SW now complete. It urgently needs to be looked at IMO. Sounds fairly positive from what you and others have written. "if they go get to the championship with the infrastucture built it is where these owners will exit and get their money back" - this bit is also my gut feel. Fingers crossed it comes good. 🫰 So we are now expecting that the club will be sold again?

AC I think started to believe in his own hype, leading to lack of effort, which I imagine started in training and then filtered through to his match performances.

It is permanent. Anyone who can not see that should go to Specsavers! I sit in it every week. Strange there are more pillars at the Thatchers end but no one complains about that. The Thatchers end is an old, not brand new stand built in 2023. Trust me if there are more pillars in the new North whenever that is built, will be just as annoying.

Like I posted elsewhere, the Haupttribune at St Pauli has the same depth as the current East Stand. Holds 6,200ish. Questions for you Chewy seeing as you seem to think this is the silver bullet and are spending the money! How much did that cost? Is there any other commercial partnerships/incentives within that stand? How much income is drawn from the hospitality boxes? How would it be financed with us? What would be the projected ROI and over how many years? To me that looks like about £8-10m worth of stand. Minimum. You are asking all the questions the owners of the club should have the answers for. I don't get the attitude on here, continuing expect the bare minimum and don't really expect the owners to put their hands in the thier pockets. If we don't end up with a modern ground you should be asking why, why have they bought the club and walked away from 2 stadium opportunities.

The student accommodation all around the outside will be a horrible sight. As you said the space would eat into capacity. I am nervous waiting for the club to announce the plans. Dreading more embarrassment and another reason to be the punchline. really? We've got rid of the tents, and the south stand is much better and bigger than anyone expected when announced. And that was built as a stop-gap only. Enjoy the improvements. We wont get a super new build, but I think we had all resigned ourselves to that long ago anyway. Lets see, hopefully you see some improvements but I guess we wont hear it from you You are happy with us building semi permanent stand with pillars, I am not. I was not a difficult task to replace the tent end with something better.

They already have an idea of what they are wanting to do and I am sure they would have looked at the previous applications that have been granted planning permission giving them an idea of the parameters they can work within. I doubt very much their "wants" include student accommodation. For me that would just take up capacity space so what is the point? The student accommodation all around the outside will be a horrible sight. As you said the space would eat into capacity. I am nervous waiting for the club to announce the plans. Dreading more embarrassment and another reason to be the punchline.

What is up with people coming out with these random figures to build a football stand and stadium.
The fact is the owners knew we needed a new ground, the FM was never going to be free and just given to us, so surely there was an expectation some money would need to be spent?
A new stand that is "very impressive" and represents modern standards will cost however much it will cost. The owners just hopefully have the appetite to get on with it and do a proper job.

Something like they have at Bath should sail through PP. Wouldn’t interfere with existing East Stand sight lines. Quite cost effective. View AttachmentI really hope you are joking.

Disagree with you there. First of all Anfield is a totally different ground to the Anfield from when we visited . So no real history there. Old Trafford is falling down and need a complete re-vamp. Nothing wrong in either the Emirates or Etihad. Both great grounds. And with regards closer to home I would sooner be playing at Ashton Gate as opposed to the Mem. At least at AG they have decent toilets, nice bars and the ground is not falling down. But Ashton Gate and Anfield are still stadiums built in a classical format. Neither are new build bowls they’ve been renovated piecemeal. Even part of Ashton Gates last renovation one of the stands was extended and revamped rather than a knock down and rebuild. Some are quick to praise the quality of Ashton Gate on here but poo poo the idea of doing similar in our stadium?! Yeah I think you are missing the point somewhat, the south stand and what has been mentioned as the plans for the East stand are nothing like AG. Lets not kid ourselves. We would be happy to have a ground like the Teds, but we are putting up pillars in places and talking about bolting on ends to stands that need to be demolished.

If we waited out being bought by someone who's got the funds to build a Wembley in Horfield we'd be waiting for eternity. This is what I mean about unrealistic expectations. I doubt there's many on here who've not waited their lifetimes for a decent stadium for the Gas. Following the bit by bit extension strategy will probably see all of us sitting in a home stadium far better than we ever have before. With all due respect of the 92 clubs currently in the EFL 76 have built new stands and stadiums since we moved back to Bristol. Failures of board, after board, after board have left us lagging behind with Legoland Chernobyl. Folk need to raise their expectations rather than being so bloody passive. Agreed, the fans that don't expect more and a board that won't develop us in the ways necessary with a modern football stadium, training ground will see us return to league 2, worse out of the football league again.

The owner also said we were going for the Premiership. It would be sensible to knock the stand down and remove the terracing and build from pitch level up - like anyone else would do. We aren't moving from the Mem, ever, it's time to accept that. Give ourselves a chance of a bright future where we are by developing a proper football stadium, that could be expanded if ever required.. Even if it takes 5-10 years to finish the lot, do each stand properly. Let's not let one off the cuff comment become a Gaschat fact, we all know the aim appears to be the Championship. It is a fact, as he said it... regardless it was touge in cheek. We are so far behind even competing in league 1 now as other clubs are year and years ahead with their ground and likely training facilities...just look at bottom 4 clubs coming down from Championship as it stands. Also don't forget Wrexham coming the other way. If we don't do things properly we will not compete with these clubs...forget the Championship, we will continue to battle away in bottom half of League 1. Club needs a wake up if thinking doing half a job we will some how end up in the Championship.

It's pretty clear we won't be having a new East stand. The owner has already specifically said he plans to develop the south and north sides of the East stand as stage 2, so it's not going to be knocked down. The owner also said we were going for the Premiership. It would be sensible to knock the stand down and remove the terracing and build from pitch level up - like anyone else would do.
