Don't you think that's a bit over-simplistic? Rovers voted against the change in format to allow U23 teams into the competition. It follows that fans who agree with the clubs' stance should't go to the games in the new format. It's not about which of us do or don't support the team, but rather that we fear the longer-term effects, and where this will lead. Having said all that, a lot of people's personal feelings for various other contributers have been very thinly veiled attacks. So why not give the fans a chance to vote whether to back the boards decision or not.that is the democratic way and would stop the over reaction and name calling Oh you're right, totally. I think it's an emotive subject though, and people fearing the worst regarding B-Teams and whatnot (like myself, and seemingly Chewbacca) feel that they/we have to make our voices heard and make them heard loudly! The problem is, there were 40,000 at Wembley for Coventry - Oxford last season so it's been deemed a success by the fools running it. I don't think name-calling is the way to go personally, as you say it's allowing people to make their own decisions - but B-Teams in the FL is the big fat elephant in the room.

I cant really believe all this! This is insane and bloody stupid. 11 pages and nonsense, just because 66 people went to a football game to support their team. Thing is I do feel strongly on this, since football has started the way clubs and the game have made money has been in attendances. If the attendances were 0 at every game it would have been stopped in its tracks. By attending these games you are culpable for any further B Team issues. By attending you endorse them. By attending you are putting the future of hundreds of clubs at risk. That's on you, not the folk that boycott, not the folk that call you scabs for going, you can't say you're "supporting" your club because you simply aren't. Just chuck the club a tenner if you're that upset about withholding money from them but don't put the future of the club and lower league football at risk by going to a poxy game that even our manager doesn't take seriously. Yeah right, I didn't come down with the last shower and can see right through you. Your tweet says it all. Posting this thread was one big joke to you, akin to letting a stink bomb off outside the headmasters office then running away smirking. You're not worth anyone's time of day. Rather than just resort to insults and childish similes, why not say your reasons for wanting to support B Teams? Or the casting aside of many years of history in the tournament for lower-league teams, and directly opposing what the club have voted for themselves?

If you are a true gashead you would go Are you unable to see the bigger picture? I don't think he (and others) are able to see the detrimental effects of this format. Or they're certainly choosing not to. I do appreciate that the decision has already been taken to persist with U23 teams and whatnot, but as chewbacca says, if nobody went - they'd soon change it. Questioning whether someone is a "true Gashead" or not is pretty flaky too. People don't take the decision to boycott games lightly, but sticking to your guns and making it be known that we don't support their changes is one of the few weapons we have left. I'm glad so many games last night were so poorly attended, and hope we continue to vote with our feet.

They don't tell you how to spend your money, so why would you tell them how to spend their own? I hate the format BTW, but we're all free to support the Had any way we like. UP THE HAD!

At the risk of being a killjoy, I don't think there's much requirement for it currently. Dortmund and (sometimes) have it for Champions League ties as it's a UEFA directive that all grounds MUST be all seater.
And though I'm ever the optimist, I'm not sure we're quite ready for European football yet...

Haha, poorly educated because I can tell the difference between a racial slur and not? Amazing! Yup, which two bit Uni was it ? I'm bored of you now. We'll never agree because you can't tell what's racist, or not. bluebutterfly had it right when he said it's only racist if you make it that way, maybe you came on here today to see if you could wind people up - don't know if that's worked for you. As for being offended on behalf of other people, you'd have to ask them I suppose.

You seem like someone who defends calling someone names based on the colour of their skin, am I right? I have already read, and laughed heartily at Hugo's post - I assume it's a very funny joke, as a grown man can't be that ignorant. Nope ! But you are coming over as very poorly educated, Am I right. Haha, poorly educated because I can tell the difference between a racial slur and not? Amazing!

Not so much a joke, but making the exact point that many people actually are that ignorant. Education is the key, not blame and shame. I agree Hugo - but there's been a lot of people on here playing the "One rule for them..." card, or "PC gone mad". There's a difference between calling Ellis crap or something, and prefixing it with a racial slur. Newmarketgas is resorting to petty name calling because a lot of people are rightly unhappy at him trying to play down any allegations of racism as people being over-sensitive. It's embarrassing that so many on here are talking like it's the 1970's and it's no wonder you hear the odd thing at the Mem if this is what people truly think.

In the hypothetical scenario you imagined, where your neighbour was "of colour" (which is a ridiculous way of putting it btw), I suggested that if you had a problem with someone and they were of another race/creed/nationality or so on - it was be your problem. Not his, or mine, but yours. Hope this helps. See Hugo's post. This does not help one bit, because if I pointed out the black guy next door and said to you,' I can't stand that bloke' you would say I was racist. You seem to be one of the people that likes to be offended for others, Am I right ? You seem like someone who defends calling someone names based on the colour of their skin, am I right? Just because it isn't offensive in your eyes, doesn't mean that it isn't to someone who's of a different ethnicity. I don't buy the accidental racism/double standards excuse either, you don't need to be old or particularly intelligent to know right from wrong. An argument in my "favour" would simply be that you can't use ethnic slurs at all - let alone at football, and you shouldn't condone some of the idiots on here behaving like racist wankers from the 1970's where you could say coloured on tv ffs. I know what is deemed right or wrong but I sometimes don't understand why, that is what I'm trying to say. And I haven't once supported or condoned any idiot making racist comments at the game. I have actually agreed all the way through my posts that it's completely unacceptable and I hope that they get a lifetime ban. If anything I have said has offended you then I apologise but all my posts are as a matter of debate and intended in a completely innocent manner. I understand, I'm sad to be part of a fanbase which has racist idiots in its number, but I now realise you're on the same side. Didn't mean any offense either.

If you genuinely can't see what the problem with calling someone a "Paki" is, I have no interest in continuing this line of conversation. Well you've labelled me pig-headed (which I have taken offense to) yet you haven't really given me an argument in your favour. I've told you that I'm unsure of what the problem is and invited you to educate me. Is it because people have used it in a derogatory manner in the past as tommym9 said? You obviously think I'm trying to be funny or offensive and I'm genuinely not. Maybe I'm just young and naive. I've only ever lived in a time where this country has a lot of different ethnicities and any form of racism is deemed totally unacceptable and I completely support that. However, I also think there are a lot of double standards with this sort of thing and I hear people being labelled "racists" when I personally haven't heard them say anything that is actually offensive. Just because it isn't offensive in your eyes, doesn't mean that it isn't to someone who's of a different ethnicity. I don't buy the accidental racism/double standards excuse either, you don't need to be old or particularly intelligent to know right from wrong. Don't be so bloody pig-headed. You know damn well what the difference is. Whether you have crude, "yer da", 1970's views in your own home - which I guess you do, you simply CANNOT say things like that in this day and age. Exactly my point, you can't say things like that yet what have I actually said that is offensive? I don't really know what the difference is and I'm more than happy for you to explain it to me. I don't know what this "yer da" thing is that you're referring to. But I have never racially abused anyone in my life and I know that one day I will lay on my death bed and say the same thing. Genuine racism is unacceptable and I do not condone it whatsoever. But as said previously in the thread, people (including myself) are constantly treading on eggshells about what can and can't be said for fear of being labelled a "racist". If you genuinely can't see what the problem with calling someone a "Paki" is, I have no interest in continuing this line of conversation.

Using terms like those alleged, that are derogatory to people - as you say, "of colour" is definitely a race issue. If you said you didn't like your neighbour because (for example) he was white, or German, or a Sikh, its YOU that has the problem. Sounds like you're condoning racism, which is nothing to do with PC. Are you calling me a racist ? Haha good one.

Racism is abhorant. But for me, why are certain forms of abuse put on pedestals compared to others? Shouldn't all abuse be deemed equal? It all depends on the individual on the receiving end of it. Its OK to abuse or make jokes about people being ugly, fat, ginger, even disabilities can be joked about or seem to be open to abuse. But race and sexual preference seem to be above everything else. Its a bit like the Islamo-fascism around now too, where as other religions can be criticized or talked about but Islam can not without be being deemed a racist or bigot. All abuse should be judged the same, surely? Again, I completely agree and I think it's a case of certain races or certain people almost wanting to be offended. If I were to be in a public interview and I called a Scottish man a "Scot" or an Australian an "Aussie", nobody would bat an eyelid. But if I called a Pakistani man a "Paki", I would be crucified. What's the difference? Don't be so bloody pig-headed. You know damn well what the difference is. Whether you have crude, "yer da", 1970's views in your own home - which I guess you do, you simply CANNOT say things like that in this day and age.

The whole world is going p c mad I dislike the guy next door, I have told him so and any one that asks is told the same, not one person is really bothered about this. If the guy was " of colour " shall we say, I would be called a racist. Funny old world ain't it ? That is PC mad. Using terms like those alleged, that are derogatory to people - as you say, "of colour" is definitely a race issue. Yes, not important in the grand scheme of things but surely I'm not alone in being embarrassed by this. Had enough polls on here over the summer, one more from the club wouldn't have gone amiss Screams tinpot Why does it scream Tinpot ? Can't speak for Weezord, but I do agree - it's bland and generic and I imagine there's a few other clubs who have it. At least something like Pirates of the Caribbean theme, people could make the connection to Rovers. Those two games they played Happy Days theme after DC's comments were decent, showed some personality and individuality.
