The more you watch this side, the more you just look at it and think that a lot of these players just aren’t very good. Some of the delivery and decision making is shocking.

This talk of injuries and blame. 22 games in 77 games between 9th Jan and 27th March is not going to help. I know it’s the same for a lot of teams but it’s been years since we’ve had such a relentless run of fixtures and with the pace and intensity of the modern game it’s no real surprise there have been casualties along the way. Not an excuse as such.
When we looked at the fixture congestion and the lack of depth in key positions in the squad back in January we knew this was likely to be a factor. It makes the lack of signings in January even more puzzling, particularly when we’d lost Mitchell-Lawson and Davies from the squad. One could almost argue that it was negligent.

WYHHB? Broom that is, but whilst we’re at it Jesus too given the time of year. Either way, we’re badly in need of a saviour!

I’ve never understood the logic behind sneering at a supporter for being a ‘rose-tinter’. Surely as a supporter your default position should be to support; to be positive, to build up your team. Of course we as fans can also show our frustration and constructively criticise but it just seems weird to me, to have a go at anyone for being too positive about their football club. Maybe I should get my head out of the sand

Thought Alfie had a good game on Saturday and kept Charlie Wyke quiet. Appreciate he has had a mixed season but has helped stop both Wyke and JCH scoring against us in 4 games. There is undoubtedly a good player there. Always does well in a physical battle with the Wyke types, but lack of pace is often shown up against the more mobile strikers. Lack of pace at centre back has been a massive problem in general. Baldwin is also really slow over any kind of distance. He and Kilgour have been comfortably our best two defenders but if you add lack of pace to error-prone unfortunately you get calamity.

What do we need to avoid relegation? A miracle. Unfortunately, I don’t believe in them. We are going down. 😩⚽️ Yes - when I saw the thread title those words sprung immediately to my mind too. Can’t look further ahead than the next game. If we can somehow get a win at Portman Road then maybe we can look at the table but we have to put everything we possibly can into that match. If we’re not good enough, we’re not good enough.

Is it a cancer running through the club or just on the playing side? That’s a bit contradictory to say the least and he’s getting more desperate with his damning of the club every game, right or wrong. How is he getting away with saying something as crude as that when a diplomatic ‘we have nothing in the box’ is the beginning of the end for Tisdale? It tells me everything about the Rovers and what they have become. I agree with you. It seemed that Tisdale’s crass comment was a big factor in his getting the sack. As Barton clearly favours a seafaring cliche or two, I’ll say it in his language. What he has said should have rocked the boat far more. If Wael is really going to nail the quarters firmly to Barton’s mast then it is going to be a very rocky crossing. Let’s just hope he can get the wind blowing in the right direction.

With so many of this squad likely to still be on the payroll next year, I fear the worst. I think it is something like 16 players out of contract, including loanees. Yes, but surely everyone brought in under Garner will still be under contract?

He farted. That was about it. wondered how he won a header To be fair, as well as that header he put a good through ball that Hanlan couldn’t quite get in the end of. He was more incisive than any of the other midfielders but unfortunately that isn’t saying very much.

Tame effort from Ayunga. Has to score. Had so much time. Wrong foot or not, that should have been in the back of the net

That is the most scathing public attack on a player I remember ever seeing from a manager of ours. I do agree with his assessment, but I don't think I agree with him coming out in public with it, it's certainly not the way I would manage. It's fine to think it and to say it to their face in private as to why they've been dropped, but airing it in public is only going to vilify him even more with the fans, and humiliate the player, which is totally unnecessary in my view. Not to mention it is a slight worry that he didn't get on with Max during their QPR days, and that he's carrying an adverse opinion of him because of that. I mean, Ehmer clearly did well at Gillingham and was their captain, so whatever is going on now needs to be eradicated without slamming his character in public. First thing I've seen from Barton so far that has worried me a bit. I agree to an extent but he’s had the weekend to think about what he’s saying in this press conference this morning so there’s no doubt it is a highly calculated move. High risk, as has been mentioned. Ehmer was voted captain by the other players. so was clearly a popular choice. By the way, what an amateurish way to select the captain of the club! Barton is trying to get some passion into the players, even if they end up hating him for a bit, and who knows, it might just work. From his point of view three managers have tried a lot of methods that haven’t worked so he probably feels he needs to get a bit unconventional. I do feel for Ehmer. It’s going to be extremely hard to come back from that whilst he’s with us.

DC got a good result today , just to lighten the gloom , pleased for him 👍 It looks like he is guiding Port Vale to safety now ten points clear of relegation! And a promotion push next season hopefully. He really is a great man who done a great job at Rovers. I feel really pleased for him. It looked a weird move when he left Walsall, who were above Vale in the league. I know Vale were a few points above the drop zone but it was a gutsy decision to take the reins there given what happened at the start of his tenure with us. On paper, it would have been easier to have stayed where he was, probably got Walsall to mid table and either jumped ship at the end of the season or stayed put. Since he left, though, Walsall have only got 3 points from 9 games so clearly all is not well there. It looks like he has probably made a wise decision and he’ll have enhanced his CV if he keeps guiding Vale away from the relegation zone as he wasn’t able to turn it around a couple of times with us.

10 to go you never know.. I’ve got a pretty good idea 🙁 Yes - you would think we’re doomed the way we’ve played all year and yet, we’re not in the relegation zone and can put distance between us and our rivals if we win on Tuesday. It’s still all to play for if we can just find that fight. Maybe we haven’t had our good spell yet? All teams at the bottom tend to have one at some stage.

Yes. We’ve been sh** all season long and yet... we’re still not in the relegation zone. That is an incredible thing when you weigh it up. Really and truly the way we’ve played we could easily have been adrift by now. Yet - win against Swindon and we’re suddenly pretty well placed to stay up. It’s an opportunity if the players have got the guts to take it.

From the sound of that some players look like they'll be dropped indefinitely.... I think he’s doing and saying all the right things. He’s right about the lack of aggression and passion in the first half. In our situation that is criminal. If we were better in the second half, I didn’t think we were that much better and the game was pretty much gone anyway. I didn’t sense they believed they could get back into it. I know there are a lot of tired bodies but they have to lift themselves somehow. If we can somehow win on Tuesday the table will look far more positive and it could be a massive momentum shift.
