As for some of comments on here about Cogs ball now, we have some really strange opinions. We have the 10th worst defence in the league out of 24 sides, the same one that let in 4 at Burton with 69% possession and got the manager the sack who was averaging 1.09 PPG…………we had people on here saying we were in for a relegation battle, can’t be be excused for making us hard to beat and stabilising us this season? I was one of 1200 at Portman Road for Cogs last win, we went 3rd that day and the celebrations at the end were brilliant. Yeovil, Burton, Scunny, have all been to the Championship since Jerry took us there in 1990. Ainsworth took small old Wycombe up playing a percentage based football which MT isn’t but me Cogs football, a chance of 4 years parachute payments from the Championship any day. I’ve seen some of the best football ever under Ollie, we’ve Barton and his possession game, we have fans who want champagne on beer money and then we can’t even pour the stuff into a glass when we get some! That's a very decent post. Especially last paragraph. I said at the time, BG appointment put us back 5 years....this is the 5th year. Carlts probably disagrees still (?) I don't hold out much hope we'll be second in the table at any point in December, like we were in 2019. I was there at Ipsh!t, it was exactly as you say with one thing extra...we had belief. If we had continued with GC I am sure we would have held on to be in contention for promotion, and then we would've seen what the foot voters would've done.. I don't see it yet with MT. Not to say it won't happen.

The south stand wont (possibility can't) be made all or part safe standing. The point of the stand was more seats. This issue will be less of a problem next year when ST holders have the blocks on the west side and middle. Week in week out the same people who bought a ST will mean more likely to be sat and respectful to others. If the neatest the away fans is a free for all on a match by match basis then hopefully atmosphere is decent and stewards can cope with any silliness. I assume we employ a different level of steward to be there than general look at your ticket and look bored stewards in sterile home areas. Should certainly be more qualified and better paid. Risk related ain't it. All good in principle but I gave up in one match last month when the steward in east stand couldn't understand a number! I give up they could even get themselves dressed in the morning...

Why should I be forced to stand after buying a stand seat in the South stand. If o2o2bo2ba wants to stand, make your way to Thatchers and let those who can't stand for too long stay in their seats to enjoy the game. Making the South stand a safe standing area only destroys the purpose of the seats. I would argue it offers choice. Choice especially to groups that wish to stand and sit. But I take your point, there are plenty of standing spaces available without the usurping of a seated area.....to add balance, many Derby fans chose to stand in the back rows too. It's a common scenario..

Surely making it safe standing would solve the issue? At least in parts of the Souf Stand if not all of it. Why do we need safe standing when over 50% of the capacity of the Mem is terracing? The South Stand was desperately needed to meet the demand for seating which clearly exists. It is being hijacked by those who think they can do what they and where they like. Times are a changing. We want to sit comfortably in our seats in the South Stand without idiots jumping up and down, trying to attack away fans, hurling abuse even at other Rovers fans or throwing flares on the pitch. But the plan is to make the Mem all seater now. So this is thinking ahead. You could employ a system where the last x amount of rows are safe standing and apply that to any new build and give fans options.

Surely making it safe standing would solve the issue? At least in parts of the Souf Stand if not all of it. It wouldn't, some people cannot stand up for 90 minutes. Kind regards John Malyckyj What I mean is give them options. Front half seating only, last 10 rows safe standing which is an option to stand at certain points in the match...

Just got back from frozen iFollow.
Well well well there's a surprise? We can't beat a relegation northern team in winter away?
Biggest meh this season.
35 mins Evans has a double corner, then another quick one soon after.....they all hit first defender. Again!? And continues his Westbrookesque deliveries ....
Shows someone doesn't give a fig.
I feel for the travelling faithful. They care more.
Will leave it at that.

We have a footballing blind spot when it comes to norvern teams away in winter when it's freezing, raining or both! Accy, Morecambe anyone?
Why can't we play them all away at start of season!?
Will our namby pamby team put up a fight in their flip flops? I doubt it.
I'll predict a scrappy 1-0 loss. It'll help them more than us. Safe journey Gas and enjoy as this is about as good as it gets with cr@p football.
Meh!

Ward 8 played as well as any keeper could in that situation. Hoole 6 difficult game for him. Derby seem to be his nemesis. Taylor 7.5 decent. Baggott 8 dealt with everything but laid the sicker blow by losing possession for a goal. Gordon 7.5 tried his best but looked like lost possession for a goal. Sinclair 7.5 worked hard and almost got an assist when rounded keeper. Finley 5 poor as gave ball away. Evans 5.5 poor as distribution and shots left a lot to be desired. Conteh 8 m o m as looked calm and composed and executed his job well...also wasn't shy in mixing it with them! Vale 7 they marshalled him well and he found it difficult getting any inroads into match. Martin 6 worked hard but they had him in their pocket.
Brown 7 laid on and part of a flowing move that found JM his chance. Marquis 7 done well to be in right place right time for his chance....if he'd taken it it would have given them a torturous last few minutes. Wasn't to be but good he created that space for himself.
Ref 6 I think he missed a 4th goal. Average otherwise.
Derby 9 best team I've seen for ages. Strong, concise, game plan....they were one of those teams always seemed to have an extra man and more time on the ball than us. 0-0 at half time was good and best achievement we could hope for in circumstances, but let's all move swiftly on....

Just got back..
Took a diversion at some point to see how the Mem was getting on in absence for one reason or another.
Hahaha one bar not ready to serve, no problem....the other bar served, but till inoperative so had to hopscotch around to find one that was! Both issues soon rectified, but shabby. So.....no change in my absence then!
We swiftly moved on. Dear oh dear!
Anyhoos, onto something less important:
Kinda told you so pre match, but I'm not the kind of person to say that!? Hey no shame in getting your @rses handed back to you from time to time by a club with upwardly momentum. No complaints. Fair result, we got what we deserved - I kinda thought we would - and we'll done them for a masterclass in where we want to be to compete for promotion and the league below the elite.
We have a long way to go.
I can't say anyone played without heart and intentions.... captain, great to have him back played poor for me, too many displaced balls and unforced errors.
2 of the goals were gifted possession.
And it looked like it should have been suspiciously another as 4 loomed with a goal line scrambler that looked over the line at one point.
A shame JM couldn't have pulled one back with our one and only clear cut chance, but there you go wasn't to be and we move on.... quickly.
Trying to rifle up the Derby in the Souf Stand? Also, in East Stand boxes a bit of shenanigans ... Pitiful really, but gave 30 seconds of popcorn entertainment if you indulge in that sort of thing....but again, where was the stewarding? Just as pitiful, it looked from distance...
To conclude: Their game plan worked well, we were soundly beaten without no redress. I wouldn't be surprised if they went up champions on this performance and I've just seen the best team this season.

Tough tough challenge today.
Whilst there's every chance we can play well and get something out the game, I fear the lack of continuity in defence will be our downfall.
It's so frustrating that (it feels like) every match we start, someone gets injured or disciplined so they can't start the next match?
So, for me, our inconsistent line up will mirror our inconsistent form - win last week, lose this.
Not feeling it I'm afraid: 0-2 Fullish Mem. Injury bingo.
See some of you soon on the Road for you know what!?
Enjoy the day your way.... UptheGas!

Completely forgot about Hoskins. Seems his career took a nosedive at a fairly young age. I’d almost forgotten him as well. Pretty sure injuries ruined his career after he left us. I think he went to Brighton (had they got promoted whilst we’d gone down?) but almost disappeared. Rarely gets mentioned on here when we all go down memory lane. But a good player. UTG! I met him once. A nimble, sleight of a player and a little bit shy under the circumstances. Lethal, though..

Welcome op..
Good points made.
I know within our first season or two at Mem pre blackthorn roof era, the Alton Road was entrance to away fans.
It soon closed because it became very difficult to manage/police/steward as everyone seen leaving were automatically targeted as an away fan for some our most (let's say) itk organised geezers within the parish.... If you know what I mean?
Perhaps things have moved on?

CM now 7/1 (bet365) to be top goalscorer.* He's currently on 15 goals. Devante Cole leads the way on 17.
Last week he was 14/1, so one goal and win at Leyton Orient has halved his odds.
Incredible goalscoring rate, have we ever had this before in first season with club?
* Please bet as responsibly or as irresponsibly or not at all as you like.

Wycombe launched something like this a couple of years back: www.wwfc.com/wandererstv/They got the guy who does their pod to present it and do the commentary for the games too. Really nice bloke, obviously a huge fan. Is he a h&s expert?
