Good idea, if Martin misses with his head butt Dean can follow up with a stamp or two. bells will ding a ling ling if they got together Well they’d certainly live up to the Rat Pack moniker.

Max Dean from MK Dons worth a punt? Now franchise MK have been totally spanked out of the playoffs and remain in the 4th tier next term. Good idea, if Martin misses with his head butt Dean can follow up with a stamp or two.

I see the Grecians lost every game on display on that page, even the FGR one that has the scores against the badges the wrong way round!

Trying to find information about our academy team is very difficult. I will try to post a link of the latest results / fixtures. I asked a serious question about 6 months ago asking were they played ?. I suggested the U.W.E but no one seemed to know. I'm sure fans would like to show support to the odd game . Click below for an outstanding win against Brentford recently. Interesting all opposition teams write a review on their official website of the games. Ours is non existent. www.brentfordfc.com/en/news/article/academy-bristol-rovers-u18-3-brentford-u18s-1Nice of them to bother listing our team although it looks like we started with 10 men!

Anybody else surprised Hoole, Sinclair and Rossiter are all only considering our offers, does that mean the offers are so low that they are seriously considering their options? I recall in previous seasons the indication of whether offered contracts would be accepted or not was already known but not published immediately, instead being drip fed through what is notoriously a slow news month for clubs whose season is not extended by playoffs involvement

He lives in Bristol apparently Swear I’ve seen him about Mangotsfield. Still rate him but think he may be a bit old for us if we’re young down the young and hungry route. Yes if the brief is to have a the consistency of a young squad sprinkled with a few old heads then with Wilson (35), Martin (35), Hunt (33), Ward (29) and potentially another 35 year old if Sinclair accepts the new deal that would suggest the “sprinkling” is complete and a 34 year old Sercombe wouldn’t fit the bill. If Scotty decides our offer is not good enough then there might be room for Sercs return.

How’s Mr Cardboard doing so far? Do you all have confidence in his abilities to build a new progressive Bristol Rovers? We don’t do progressive, we have a subtle range of levels of mediocrity with occasional uncharacteristic promotional spurts.

I've heard the retained list has been handed in, on the back of a fag packet. Benson and Hedges have been released, and are currently looking for a new club... The retained list was beautifully typed up on Rovers headed notepaper. Unfortunately the person responsible for publicising the list saw their own name was top of the list and left before sharing it!

I’d like us to employ Ukrainian former Russian international Rats in some capacity so that when he inevitably departs Bristol Live can use the headline “Rats leaves Rovers’ sinking ship”.

So say is the football mantra. However is it really the case? Off the top of my head and during my time watching Rovers I've see the likes of Bobby Gould, Ian Holloway, Chris Lines, Gary Penrice, Paul Randall return and do a decent job. Conversely, Gerry Francis and John Ward blotted their copybook, although JW did do alright initially. Which players or managers returned and did well and not so well? Is the perceived wisdom really true? I think it's difficult to be as successful second time around because the very fact someone is asked to return means they set a high standard first time around. The fact they probably got sacked is forgotten because we only remember the good times. So anything they do on their return is compared to the good bits and not the hazy poor bits. One to buck that trend - Vaughan Jones’s first spell at rovers was superseded by his second.

I've been told that Jamie McAllister has been sacked after he allegedly headbutted someone at the awards evening. Surely this is a wind up? Maybe he was just demonstrating how Chris Martin got his suspension?

Poor old HV, that highlights reel shows if only we had more players who could shoot, head, anticipate and run he’d have assist stats to rival the best in L1.

The “per your request “ phrase seems to be a standard insertion on any recurring payment process up for renewal/cancellation where prices or conditions have changed whether or not they are continuing it or cancelling it. Got one communication for a music magazine price rise, one direct debit where the price stayed the same but the name of the company taking the payment had changed and this email cancellation from EFL digital, in all three cases I hadn’t contacted them yet they included the “per your request “ phrase.

I think MT will bring in a new keeper ... Experienced agile Bear who will command his area and spread confidence through the defence. Fully expecting one or two with Exeter links to be brought into the fold. Central defender and a midfielder' I think he will look to move on Connolly + McCormick and even potentially Wilson + Hunt but who seriously will touch the last two ? We could be stuck with all four which would be frustrating. Grant is surely a MUST GO and Jevani Brown I think will be kept on. If Ipswich get promoted I think Baggott could return either on Loan or permanent. Surely we will offer Chris Martin another year but his disciplinary record might just trump that plan - We shall see. On the subject of keepers and returning loanees, one situation I’d be keeping an eye on is that of Joe Lumley’s at Southampton. He basically established himself as the second keeper, getting the cup games and manning the bench game after game banishing McCarthy to the stands. Before the game against Preston Bazuna does his ACL but Russell Martin does not promote Lumley from the bench slot, he leaves him there and recalls McCarthy from the stand to start and he still has the starting jersey. This suggests to me that there is a lack of confidence in Lumley at Saints, their supporters openly call McCarthy’near post’ because he’s so often beaten there, so there’s much puzzlement at this turn of events. Bazuna is out for 10 months at least so they need at least two decent number ones and I suspect if they get promoted into the PL neither McCarthy or Lumley will be considered good enough even as the bench warmer. Hence if Saints progress it might be worth mentioning to Lumley and his agent that there is a slot available at the club where he first really drew attention to his capabilities to hold down a starting keeper position at an EFL club. He must still have happy memories of the place.

It's early I know, but as we look ahead I will keep a track of the ins and outs here. Shows what a job George and Chris have! Let me know if any errors or anyone missing Key: Under ContractContract OptionOut of ContractGoalkeepersJed WardMatt Hall DefenceJames Wilson Connor Taylor James ConnollyJack HuntLuca HooleLewis GordonJosh GrantJames GibbonsMidfieldAnthony Evans Kamil Conteh Luke McCormick Grant Ward Jerry LawrenceSam Finley Jordan RossiterRyan Jones Attackers/WingersChris MartinLuke ThomasJevani Brown Scott SinclairJohn Marquis Harvey Greenslade Leaving/retiring etc
Matthew Cox Tristan Crama Elkan Baggott Harvey Vale Brandon Aguilera Harry Vaughan George Friend As we approach the end of the season and a few things become clearer, what are peoples thoughts on the OUT OF CONTRACT players. For me, definitely leaving will be Gibbons and Marquis Probably leaving will be Finley and Grant And probably offered new deals/options taken will be Martin, Sinclair and Hoole That leaves the following Rossiter - would offer a short term deal, but he may head elsewhere if he can get longer Gordon - I'm easy either way but a wouldn't mind a one year extension as our LB cover Greenslade - would definitely offer a 1+1 deal get him in pre-season games and early games, then loan to Conference for the season (with a recall) Jones - Really dont know, should have been breaking into the team by now. Is he going to get a chance? if not, no point in another loan season. Whilst MT’s initial thoughts on Jones were if he can’t get in a national league side he’s not likely to get into ours and this suggested his time was up, I think if we’re supposedly having a development squad next season we should sprinkle it with a few individuals who already know the place and each other and can help bed in new blood, Jones along with Greenslade and Lawrence should be the cornerstone outfield players to kick that side off. Obviously promising youth players like Dewsbury and Shaw will be expected to step up and in goal we will get a chance to see what Hall is like in a match situation. That still leaves several open spaces for the experimental triallists Pirate often pinpoints, the key point about those is if we’re reducing the playing budget significantly then the recruits to the dev squad have to be young, enthusiastic and cheap!

I fully understand the argument that a manager shouldn’t be judged until he has his own players under him, unfortunately the values he treasures: run a lot, roll your sleeves up, reliability over flair etc, means he’ll be signing exactly the types of players I don’t want to see week in week out in the quarters …the Cotterill Shrewsbury players, the Evans Stevenage players, the Brady Northampton players and the Ainsworth Wycombe type players.
I always buy a season ticket to support the club, for various reasons I find it harder to make games these days, I’ve seen very little from MT to suggest that if he hangs around I’ll be tempted to journey down the M4 much next season even if I’m fit and able to. Hence I vote sack so that I might use the season ticket occasionally!

Was the 4th player Aaron Lescott? Turned out to be the best of the four for us at least. The five players signed in March 2004 were Aaron Lescott, Danny Williams, Bo Henriksen, Ali Gibbs and John Anderson. SourceI thought Williams made the most difference in those few games and was disappointed when unlike Gibbs, Lescott and Anderson he decided not to prolong his stay at the Mem.
