I’ll hold my court, still not happy with the signing, we should have got the JCH deal over the line not sign some out of contract TED who lives locally. If he scores ten before Christmas I’ll withdraw my comment and publicly apologise. Spilt Milk for the first part, we have to get over it not keep resenting it. For the second part he’s just as much if not more an ex-Canary, an ex-Ram or an ex-Ranger. On paper he’s an upgrade on Lofty, I’m pretty sure he will prove to be so on the pitch as well. We have to learn to be the wind beneath their wings rather than the millstones on their backs.

Gasheads squabbling amongst themselves?? Guess we must have won the last two league games then.

Whilst I am not an advocate of “goal music” I wouldn’t be averse to Lance cuing up “The goalscorer for Rovers is…” followed by the sound bite “Big John, Big John,…Big Bad John”. We could all join in on the Big Bad John part! Seriously though, I’m glad to see he’s getting recognition for the unsung parts of his game and now he’s got 2 in 2 league games hopefully this is the start of a hot streak.

Having listened to Hunt’s interview on Having A Gas if any “ex-Teds” want to join us and have the same attitude as him then I’m all for it. Very sensible and refreshing point of view.

Anyone bothered by free agents & whoever they used to be employed by, need to take their head out their arse. To be fair it's only a temporary fix to the fix the JCH balls up Personally I would prefer Lyle Taylor but if its a short term deal to get to the January window I'm not complaining if he signs and who he's played for in the past Yes, especially as he “consciously uncoupled” from them in January

Apparently as long as we switch the away kit to all yellow he told JB I can fix you.

Two non game specific comments…
1. Good to see them using one of the electronic advertising boards to show the score and game time, of course Thatcher’s End attendees will not be able to see it so unless there is another one underneath the Camera position then they won’t know the minutes to go like the three other sides of the ground will.
2. Have seen several references on the South/Southwest stands interfering with light from the floodlights on the dedicated thread. There seems to be a roof up on the southwest part and whilst that does not impact light on the pitch anyone taking a throw in will be in darkness so some adjustment would be necessary even without the fact that the skeleton south stand is already shadowing half the penalty box as it is. When the roof is fully up there will definitely be a need to reposition the lighting to ensure that end of the pitch passes the lighting regulations.

At the start of the season we had 6 attacking players we sold Loft and extended Greenslade move to Truro. Also there are unconfirmed report Sinclair could be out for a lengthy time . This means we are back to just 3 strikers Collins Maquis Brown. Who would risk any of these 3 in a minor cup competition?. The last time we had just 3 strikers ( Hanlan Nichols Agunga) what happened ?. If Sinclair is out; having lost Loft. Then we certainly need a free agent striker!. Nichols left in the same summer that Hanlan and Ayunga joined. We may well have had only 3 strikers that season but the third was probably Daly.

After the UWE and the JCH reaction they have realised we love a letdown and a moan about it so they are going to provide us with one every fortnight from now on !

At least we can’t be accused of buying promotion…we had the item in our basket but left it there on checkout.

Since goalkeepers don’t need to be included as part of your squad allowance does that mean we are declaring Belly as an outfield player?

I’m Pro Barton, but another draw or defeat will surely be the beginning of the end for him. Will he play 3 DM against the mighty CTFC? Time will tell! I don’t think tonight’s result will make a blind bit of difference, we’re not even definitely out of the cup if we lose, and no one cares about it until the semi finals.

Ok so sour note to end a very good window. Three out, none of whom were in the last match day squad. Player we wanted for the whole window we didn’t get (comparisons with Constable and Wood etc). Seems desperate because both Marquis and Collins have not found their shooting boots this season, if Azza had converted his one on ones and Marquis had buried his free headers and the shots that hit the post/keeper it wouldn’t seem nearly so bad. However, form is temporary and class is permanent, both could end their droughts today and then the failure to get the JCH deal over the line won’t seem such a painful cockup. I trust Marquis, Collins, Brown, Thomas, Sinclair and hopefully Vale, to do enough to keep us in touching distance of the play off positions until January when we know now we will have a war chest of at least £800k to spend. Yes the JCH ship may have sailed and we may not revisit any sort of deal for him in January as his valuation will have dipped and other more attractive but misfiring clubs will enter the bidding, but other targets may emerge.
Furthermore if there is still a form hangover for our current forwards we can get a free agent in (someone mentioned Lyle Taylor) whose wages we can clearly meet if we were offering JCH a decent deal. Once his month loan is over we can also use Greenslade as forward cover as, yes, we will be utilising our striking options to the max.

I am pretty sure as he wasn't a free agent by the deadline even if he did buy out his contract he couldn't sign for anyone until January? He would be a free agent though if he paid his contract up as he would be unattached. Actually no he wouldn’t. You have to be a free agent before the deadline in order to join a club governed by that deadline. I.E. ripping up his contract and confirming it before 11 last night to the authorities = free agent available to EFL clubs, ripping up after 11 last night = no professional games in the PL or EFL till January window opens.

One of my favourite football clichés, here are some second spells as forwards at the Gas; Alfie Biggs 210 Appearances 101 Goals Paul Randall 184 Appearances 62 Goals Bobby Jones 171 Appearances 37 Goals Steve White 89 Appearances 24 Goals Gary Penrice 57 Appearances 15 Goals Scott Sinclair 33 Appearances 7 Goals Not to mention the excellent second spells of Vaughan Jones & Ian Holloway (who both were title winners after returning), Chris Lines (double promotion), Phil Bater (98 further appearances from fullback) and potentially current centreback Connor Taylor. It's not worked out bad for us! I don’t remember Penrice coming back? As a coach maybe? I don’t have the best memory though. This clip contains one of my favourite Penrice goals from his second spell, crisp passing move and a deft finish.

Matt Smith…because no one knows which of them you’re after!!! Kyle Hudlin…would make a change to have a striker who made opposing keepers look small!

This is pretty much what its going to be, from one extreme to the other! If it turns out to be the latter I am not sure if I am mentally prepared for the meltdown when we sign an unknown 19 year old on loan! Unknown 40% likely, JCH 5%, 54% nothing 1% rounding Helluva player that Rounding mind, no wonder we’re only 1% likely to get him.

A Mackem pal of mine told me this morning that if Ross Stewart leaves this week there is a strong feeling that Sunderland might turn to AC - Clearly there are a lot of potential movements that can happy in the next few days .... Crumbs, I like AC but if I was a Sunderland fan I’d be a bit gutted with that trade off.
