I always thought the UWE design missed a trick because it was a large, out of town and easy to get to plot of land. Yet it's commercial potential was never set to be realised because the university demanded so much of it to be taken up by teaching space. Even the commercial units were things that revolved around UWE's priorities like a Creche, convenience store for students, Gym etc. The FM design will be completely different because the developers will want to utilise as much land around the core stadium as possible due to the high land value. This should hopefully mean steeper stands and a better atmosphere as the stadium itself will be compressed onto as smaller space on the plot as the can get away with. However it's important that we still get things like we were due to get at UWE like sufficient hospitality and executive box facilities, modern supporters bar, club shop and museum. I suspect like UWE though, anything on the land beyond the stadium itself we'll have very little input into. Given there were little other developments around the UWE site other than the uni then made sense to try and tap into their students spending on non match days?
As far as the FM I assume Congyer will want to make some money out of the development, if so, then they could also restrict what the club can include within the actual stadium itself. The issue was that we didn't have the right to receive the charges for student parking, teaching, jogging track etc.

Brilliant news, he was excellent in the games he played. Great start to the summer. I think Ward and Rossiter plus a rejuvenated McCormick will be a brilliant midfield outfit. Should also free Evans to play more forward and get back to being the player he was in the League 2 season. Wonder if Luke Thomas will come back - Barnsley have offered him a new contract so I guess it may depend on who can pay him the most.

Thank you as i had never really asked anyone else although, living very close to Bobby Jones, i remember him talking and with good knowledge, on the reds I used to get taken to Rovers and City games as a young child, as you say, it was not unusual - or was that Tom Jones? Doesn't that count as child abuse? I was dragged once to a City game v Plymouth when I was about 11 and hated every minute of it, especially the aggro between the 'teds and Argyle fans. At that stage there had never been any aggro at Eastville (we made up for it later unfortunately!). I did, however, find half a crown someone had dropped which was a decent amount back in about 1963! (That's 12.5p for you younger viewers!)

Of course it’s the refs fault. Only rovers get bad decisions. Maybe he’ll grow up one day. If he ever wants to manage higher he’ll need to. Ho hum. Business as usual. Er... Jurgen Klopp or Nigel Pearson anyone? Both seem to be as bad or worse than Joey when it comes to moaning about referees!

Leaving aside JB's punishment, which feels over the top - maybe a solution might be to have 4 assistant referees, one each half on both sides. How many times have we seen the West Stand lino give a throw in to the wrong team when the ball is in the other half? And surely a marginal offside or a niggly foul on the West Stand side may be missed by the assistant referee on the East Stand side. Saying that, assistant referees appeared to be rather short sighted whenever a thug central defender fouled Josh Coburn, even if 2 yards away from them!

They really should move the pitch towards the Thatchers at the same time Selfishly I hope not! My seat in the West Stand is right by the halfway line. Having said that, if it's necessary for the new stand I'm fine with it.

Remember the North Stand going up at Eastville in the 50's.Perhaps we only build when there's a Coronation? Rovers didn't even build that as by then Eastville was owned by the stadium company, the last stand the club built at its own ground was the South Stand in 1924! Rovers (Supporters Club helped with funding) DID build the North Stand.

Hopefully, with a full pre season behind him Luke McCormick will feel like a brilliant new signing. On the other hand.......

So much for looking at other players. Anderson out the squad and Macca still not there. Macca still not well enough, Anderson - maybe has indicated he won't sign a contract extension? PS whatever happened to the surfer flag?

For me if Wael/Conygar do deliver a new ground, for it to make sense as am investment for everyone. For me it obviously needs to be bigger and better than Trashton. We need to be able to play football there (obviously), but ground need to be able hold concerts. If the ground is small and a bit ordinary wouldn't other events still be held at Trashcan. Wael and Conygar surely must realise that this ground can't just be something basic if they want to maximise return. If they deliver something like the MK Don stadium they would have cracked it. Surely once the new arena is built big names will perform there rather than Trashton or the FM. I think Wael mention 17k to 20k initial capacity, so not bigger than Trashton.

Probably the usual nonsense from his agent trying to push up his value. Hopefully he signs a new contract if not then JB will just have to find another CM. Assuming he can get fit and stay fit, Josh Grant is the ideal replacement. Plus Luke McCormick with full pre season should be like a good new signing. I'd prefer Grant Ward stays of course!

Who put the highlights package together? A Derby fan?! Didn't include a couple of our chances including Anderson hitting the post and loft's chance which he should have done much better with. I'm tired of managers/players scapegoating the ref. All of em do it. Ref was not great yesterday imo but got the penalty decision correct. A lot of them are in their own bubble where they can't possibly take any responsibility. Warne made himself look silly in his interview. Saying its a typical league one game and that's why they want to get out - they were the team spoiling the football! Weird he thinks they are a big club when they have such a little club mentality for away games. Enjoyed Bogarde's performance today and I'm a fan of his partnership with ward. Collins looked lively as always - he plays quicker than some of his teammates which sometimes makes it look like he misplaces passes. We look stronger at the back these days but on the ball connolly is lacking. Hope we sign Gibson in the summer. It'll be interesting to see who plays when loanee quansah is back. Finley is off it and needs the summer break to come ASAP. I don't think we'll see much more of Coburn now as Loft and Marquis will be here next year and he won't. But I think he's been good for us and hope he gets in a championship team next year. Om ITVs EFL show, apparently Elliott Anderson missed a good chance for Rovers!

Those highlights give the impression that Derby were the better team! Bad editing I think!

Get in. A home win and a goal! Finally. Well deserved. Bogarde is some youngster. Lucky Villa Hoole, Marquis and Loft made the difference. Ward very good too and Gibson goal line stop at the end incredible. Coburn and Collins really off the boil tho. Evans unlucky to be subbed. All the good stuff came from him and Hoole before the subs. He went down with a slight injury just before he was subbed so maybe it was for that reason. Thought he'd had a decent game overall.

Good Friday brings The Addicks to The Mem. They are bringing a reasonable crowd. About 130 Thatchers North Terrace tickets left. Around 60 West Terrace spaces left. Looks like a busy Bank Holiday at the home of Bristol Football. My prediction is 5 * 5 in front of 8,107 fans. With no goals scored in the first or last 15 minutes. A hat-trick for Aaron and a double from Scott, including a penalty. Madness or dreaming? The crowds, ticketing and space have been expertly “managed” always seems plenty of room when watching, on TV. Credit where it’s due, TG has panicked people into buying earlier and earlier. No need of it but it creates a false sense of not being able to get in. Seems a lot cannot live without their fix of the gas. Will be interesting to see the final figures, when did we last have a true sell out, to those that know ? I would bet it’s a long old time With the current reduced capacity we sold out 2 weeks back v Portsmouth. The last "genuine" capacity was probably v Dagenham and Redbridge in League 2 final game.

why is it a shambles if he’s gone for this reason….. ‘club spokesman confirmed it was due to a disciplinary matter’ . You don’t think it’s a shambles our new secretary has c0cked up already and been sacked? Dave Sam’s was in that role for donkeys and went almost unheard of. A sign he was doing something right on my book. Sorry but yes, I think it’s a shambles, why was this young lad recruited? Cheap? Maybe he'd done a brilliant job at Swindon and came with great references. Nothing indicates this is a shambles, unless of course you have inside information that he was hired on a dirt cheap rate and nobody checked his credentials first.
