How many fans did we take last time to Anfield ? Was it about 7k from memory? I remember it was more and IF we win the reply ( and it is a big IF ) I think 10k if we can have that many tickets.... Get a train load from the deep south (Cornwall) !! We sold out the 7000 tickets they gave us and iirc wouldn’t give us any more. I remember they wanted us to change the original home draw at Twerton to Anfield saying that they would sell it out! As it was I think there were less than 30000 at Anfield for the replay. What a game that was!

Hope not.
Norwich play on the previous Friday while we play on the Saturday which would give them a big advantage imo.

Totally agree, he was sensational, made so much time on the ball. The starting midfield 3 were absolute quality. Finley's range of passing was a joy to watch, and Ward was at his best; all three yesterday showed they could play in the next level up; If Antony can continue playing at that level for the rest of the season I would not be surprised if the Championship clubs come in for him in the summer. I've said before on another thread I think Evans Finley ward quality wise is the best midfield I've ever seen at the gas and I've been going since 1988. Such a shame it seems ward is going to be out again now Absolutely agree about this midfield three - and particularly pleased re Finley who was getting a fair amount of stick not long ago. Proved himself to be a true captain and leader of men imo.

You forgot Whoosh Nicky Tanner I couldn't understand why Rovers were going to sell him to Torquay for about 10k only for Liverpool to sign him for not much more. Odd that he was deemed not good enough for Rovers and yet good enough for Liverpool and odd that the fee was so low. The most bizarre transfer ever. Was delighted when Torquay were taking him off our hands and paying us as well. Could not believe it when it was announced that Liverpool had hijacked the deal!

Favourite player and manager. Used to make playing football effortless on those atrocious pitches at the time. Gutted when he left. Loved him - one of my favourite players. How many times did he split an opposing defence wide open and put Paul Randall clear to go one on one with the keeper - inevitably scoring. Another memory is a 35 yard shot to score away at Sunderland c 1975/76 to silence Roker Park - greeted with silence ( including me!).

One of the most frustrating games I’ve seen.
Totally in control and should have been 2 or 3 goals up.
Didn’t Pitman have a goal disallowed as well?
Clarke’s ‘victim’ had his red card overturned. Quite rightly as I seem to recall it being a totally unjustified attack on him.
I still liked Clarke though and disappointed he hasn’t been considered to come back into the squad.

Good shout re Carlisle and Gills new owner spending and rumoured after JCH. “Irene” I mean a bargain based on the £800k 3 months ago, he price has halved and they will take £400k I bet. Hasn’t McCann or whatever his name is recently claim they’d turned down multiple bids and the highest of those was 450k ? Yep, apparently turned down £450k from Charlton. Gillingham allegedly interested??!!

With an extremely experienced defensive coaching team of MT, McAllister and Kevin Bond you have to hope that Connolly will develop his game.
Along with Taylor,Hoole,, Gordon and Ryan Jones.

Had an e-mail saying: "Good Morning, Thanks for purchasing a ticket for our FA Cup 3rd round trip to Norwich City this weekend. If your tickets have still not arrived in the post, then there is no need to worry. If your tickets don’t arrive by Thursday 4th January, please email tickets@bristolrovers.co.uk by 4pm on Friday 5th January with the details of the tickets you have purchased. We can then arrange for reprints to be collected from the ticket office on the day at Carrow Road. Any requests after this time will NOT be processed. We look forward to seeing you all on the day."Which reminded me that I have not actually received my tickets yet despite ordering them on 18th December. Pain in the arse if I have to collect them from the ticket office on the day. Added complexity (and less drinking time). Anyone actually received there's yet - or is there a chance they could all arrive at the very last minute? Yeah ours came on 21st Dec. Was a bit confused as the confirmation e mailed had a line in there about a pdf for e tickets being attached but alas there wasn’t and we got the physical tickets in the post. Exactly this. That was why I tried to contact Ticketmaster and Rovers as there was no pdf attached.

Extending his contract is a must.
The question is for how long?
Sure at this stage of his career he will be looking for 18 months rather than just to the end of the season - would MT be happy to commit to that?

Tried to contact Ticketmaster about my tickets last week.
My email bounced back and the phone number given was ‘not recognised’.
Rang Rovers ticket office and no reply so emailed tickets@bristolrovers and retail@bristolrovers - no reply from either.
Luckily the tickets have arrived in the post.
Not an impressive experience.

Maybe because Luton want him to get experience at L1 level?

Even so I think we’d get more passion and commitment and a determination to do what our manager wants to be done from giving Ryan Jones a run in the side. He was impressive in the preseason games only to be turfed out on loan, injured and then underutilised. Time to back him in my opinion. How is he doing in the Conference? Think he has only played a couple of games due to injuries. Allegedly coming back to us in January.

Great championship experience as a player and coach.
Sounds like a great appointment.
Even better if he is still based locally. Does anyone know?
Never liked the idea of our previous regime all living away from home and living together in a house like latter day students.
Must be better all round for the team to be based nearby with their families . MT setting the example by moving his family to the area.

Great interview with CM.
Highly articulate and intelligent.
Has to stay on and as said above would love him to become part of the coaching team.
Who better as a role model for current and future strikers?
