Steve Sidwells goal is worth a watch for pure comedy genius.

I always assumed it was ourselves who wanted to know that the project was feasible. As in, will it generate sufficient funds to sustain the club. Surely we wouldn't just go ahead with the build and cross our fingers that everything will be okay? I think that was the plan of the old board and some of the "I want it now" fans.

There are plenty of temporary stands at sporting venues. We have two already, so of course we would be allowed two more, if they were safe, which obviously they would be! Actually, temporary stands would not be safe. A temporary stand would not be allowed to be built above the north end of the east terrace as it would interfere with the turnstiles and the food outlets. As there is always a big queue for people getting food and drink, how would people queue if there is temporary seating in the way? And for the away terrace, there will be nowhere to put new toilets and a food outlet if temporary seating was put above.
Also, going back to my comments regarding the UWE project. It is now 4 years since planning permission was approved. 4 YEARS!!!! No other sporting venue has had to wait so long for the stadium to begin building. 4 YEARS! And we are now just weeks away from 2017. Surely this cant go into a 5th Year? WE NEED ACTION - NOW!!!!
Wael mentioned in his interview with the Guardian that dealing with UWE isn't like dealing with a private company where a CEO makes all of the decisions. Everything has to go to a committee which takes time. I believe this is why it's taking so long. However, we haven't got any other choice at the moment because if it's not UWE we'd have to start all over again.

Still hoping one day I'll open this thread and it'll say "Press conference for BRFC & UWE planned for this week". We live in hope.

3 words Tonton Zola Moukoko. He helped the gas to the premier league on many occasions in the old Championship Manager.

Really is a great time to be a gashead. So grateful to DC and Wael. Onwards and upwards. Wael?
He's only a part time supporter, like me.
I'll let him off today as he had the president of FIFA at his house for tea.

Was anyone lucky to get an invite to tomorrows Q & A? I'm guessing you didn't get one severncider based on your previous comments about who will be attending. Feel free to voice why it annoys you so much.

I'm afraid that these images of a shiny new stadium at UWE are nothing more than a pipe dream. I say that because the whole thing has dragged on far too long for there to be a successful outcome. Remember how, for the best part of a year Higgs told us they were "working with their partners to get the stadium built"? It turns out they were haggling over the contract as Shitsburys has no intention of buying the Mem. We all know how that turned out. The Al-Quadi family acquired the club in February this year. If they had accepted the UWE plans as negotiated by Higgs et al construction would have been underway. As it is, the new owners found the deal to not be to their liking. I would think it likely that, after a thorough analysis they went back to the UWE and said, "we want to build on your campus, but we want the following alterations to the contract" UWE have no doubt looked at the new demands and said something like "We can't accept those proposals, but will meet you part- way by accepting a, b and c" If those concessions are not acceptable to Rovers, and the UWE have drawn their line in the sand, where do we go from here? I think it's likely that the club are in negotiation with South Glos to purchase an alternative site. I also think the club will keep the pretence of UWE to placate the fans, and that they will announce the cancellation of UWE when they have reached agreement with S Glos over an alternative site. There should be no planning issues with S Glos, why would they offer us land for a stadium then turn down the planning application? I believe we will get a new stadium, it won't be at UWE, however it will be in S Glos and will take a year or so longer. This, you understand, is just my opinion and is based on no evidence whatsoever. This wouldn't surprise or worry me if it was the case, as long as the outcome is right deal for the club in the long term.

Maybe he won't need to spend/loan as much as NH if he can run the club well.

The "Wonga" loan has not disappeared, it is just off BRFC's accounts. If this is true then at least the club won't be paying the crippling Wonga style interest rates.

I don't post on here very often, but I'm a regular reader of gaschat, I'm not connected to the club in any way, and don't know any of the key people, but I can confirm (as I was there when a conversation took place) that the post made on Facebook is definitely true. And it seamed very clear that positive news regarding UWE is on its its way soon. I have no reason to share this, only to say that the Facebook poster who I know personally is not making it up! Happy days! Oh I'd love this to be true so much.

It does feel like all is not well with the UWE deal. I wonder if it's a case of hoping UWE pull out or lining up something else before they announce UWE's off to avoid fans going into meltdown.

It shows the ambition of DC. However crazy the Leeds owner maybe it was still a big decision for DC not to go there.

Yet again Steve Hamer was conspicuous by his absence. He was in his office all day but didn't seem to want to be involved with the fans yet again. It seems the only time he gets involved is when our President is there. i thought it odd that he didn't even show when the player sponsors were thanked for their contribution to the club, the young pirates who again drew a blank etc etc etc. With the farce about non delivery of the kids shirts, I thought the least he could do would be to draw the flack from the plebs, but no. Thankfully our president is made of sterner stuff, and is a real people person, and he really is the one that counts. You don't like him. We get it. Does it really need a thread every couple of days?
