We need not to concede so often so soon after scoring.

Also, no-one back then smiled in photos as they didn't have the unfeasibly brilliant white pearlies and gnashers that the present day spotrtsperson has de rigueur. Well known, isn't it, that not smiling makes you (look) older, (see; miserable old git).

We seem to have scored a higher number of headed goals than usual so far this season. Anyone got the telling (comparative) statistics? Well spotted Spiess. 5.4% increase in headed goals this season (extrapolated of course) Interestingly enough the average height of the team has decreased 2.4%. I’ve only taken the seasonal averages back to my first season in 1973 though. This obviously skews the figures because historically each generation gets taller. Back in 1883 they were probably all under 5 feet tall. Bullshitin on football forums is also up 20%. Thanks. My figures show that in 1883 players took the field at 5' 2''. (But studs were longer then, of course)

It’s a compound word. When we first moved up to London my uncle bought us the Krek Waiters Peak Bristle book. (Correct way to speak Bristol). So we wouldn’t forget how to speak proper. We also got sent a load of evening posts/Green ‘uns every now and again to keep up with what was going on…one of those mentioned it was “typical Bristol Rovers weather” for a Tuesday night win at Eastville…my old man explained it was drizzle …where you didn’t think it was raining hard but you were still soaked by the end of the game … Brizzle is just Bristle incorporating the drizzle. Although must admit I have seen plenty of people refer to Brizzle who probably didn’t derive it the way we did. Thanks for the explanation. makes sense. BUT..... Non-Bristolians (as you refer to) using that word do my head in; a la Dick van Dyke Cockney! Ugh.

Actually, lives in Southampton. He must have taken advantage of the stamp duty offer then as he definitely said he lived in Southend in an interview last season. Easy enough for you to 'boom' that interview for us then, no doubt. Then we'll know for sure.

I still haven’t shaken off this wretched cold and here I am again, in the early hours of the morning, preoccupied with phlegm and contemplating whether a phlegmatic approach by the team is required to counteract the potentially large home crowd. But enough of science, what we really need, as last week, is some sort of sign. And on that front I have good news as a black cat genuinely ran across the road in front of me, from left to right, on the way home sometime around 5 o’clock. So, on the assumption that there is a 24 hour period of efficacy for this good luck, and as I didn’t win the top Euromillions prize, then I am convinced, to a Panglossian level, that it means we are going to win again. I know Voltaire uses the character of Dr Pangloss to poke fun at the excessive optimism of G.W. Leibniz, but I don’t think that was very enlightened as he makes bloody good chocolate biscuits, and anyway Voltaire was French. UTG Very entertaining. You used to do cabaret, no? You going to Bradford? I can't get there; got me garden to tend.

Any chance there are statistics for left-footed and right-footed players per squad/team and results (home and away)? Any chance there are statistics for goals scored (home) and goals scored (away) by said left-footed and right-footed players? Any chance there are statistics for goals, home and away, by a/ odd-number shirts on left-footed and right-footed players and b/ even-number shirts on left-footed and right-footed players? Etc.

How the bloke ever represented Chelsea, at any level, is a complete mystery. He is an embarrassment of a footballer. And to think Mr SteveK92 thinks he should be played at centre back is even more mind boggling. He offers nothing to the team at all. Could not agree more. Thought he was sh**e from day one and so far he has failed to improve on that assessment. Another P?!s poor signing. Bit like Tony Craig really.

..... recognises the hapless Barton. It should have struck midnight on his tenure as Rovers manager. Another imposter, who has achieved the almost impossible task of replacing last year's playing dross with a bunch of misfits that are even worse. If he thinks recruiting injury prone veterans and cast-offs that nobody else wanted is progress he is even more misguided and delusional than most Rovers fans now believe him to be. Clarke and Phelan the icing on an extremely unimpressive recruitment cake. My worry now is how does Barton's replacement (he surely can't survive) turn things around? Not much in the squad to build on, and a truly pitiful set of attacking options. As for promotion we should be more concerned about the other end of the table. Are there two sides worse than us? Not at the moment there aren't. There are others in the Rovers hierarchy who shouldn't escape accountability. At the very least they are cupable of disastrous selections and decision making. Their track record is abysmal and they shouldn't be afforded an opportunity to make the same mistakes again. Right. I didn't see Phelan touch the ball today.

So Rovers had a better scorer than crawley had keeper/defence. And Rovers had a better keeper/defence than crawley had scorers. Thats why Rovers won. We lost because Crawley were sh**e infront of goal and managed to miss sitters that virtually every other side would have buried. Several sitters from the superior anmount of possession they had and double amount of shots and shots on target they created than us. A welcome win in a poor performance. Hopefully it will be good win on saturday with a good performance. Have you told the FL this?
