Matt Macey seems to be doing OK for himself so far? As far as Santos etc even if it comes to the worse they will still probably have Div 1 or 2 clubs chasing them once they are released, look at LDV as an example. So is it easier for a player like Santos to stay at Rovers and make the grade or go to the likes of Derby, get coach by a Championship coaching set up and, if it doesn't work out, try their luck at a Div 1 side? Sadly, clubs like Derby are in different league when it comes to facilities. As far as I know the U18s now play at Golden Hill now and the coaches will tell you that the pitches are garbage !! We not only need a new stadium but MUCH better facilities for our first team and academy players. So Sadly, if I were a 16 year old I'd jump at the chance of a move. Long term ( or even short term) Rovers need to put money into youth development facilities or we will always lose the Isaac Pearces of this world. Exactly this! We need to invest into the youth setup and bring more players through. Obviously this costs money and that is in short supply at the moment However have a look at Cambridge Utd (yes i know we beat them recently), they have one of the best youth setups in the lower leagues. They dropped out of the football league and instead of binning the youth system like 99% of teams, they found another way to fund it and succeed, largely in part to Jez George. I've met Jez a couple of times (and other directors at Cambridge - i live just outside Cambridge now due to work) and the system that they set up is fantastic, there has been some good articles in the national press about their setup It just goes to show that a well run club can succeed and have a very good youth setup on a small budget The trouble for us comes to the part about being a "well run club"...

Shame I suppose, but how can we compete with what clubs like Fulham have to offer? I suppose you could always show him that Ollie Mehew's not had the best of times at Blackburn? Not sure what's happened to Santos is he still at Derby? True but if you were in his shoes you gotta give it a shot, Like Justin says big teams like Fulham have facilities and coaching miles ahead of us.

I'm not a Grimsby fan! Old user name was haddock_n_chips on old forum.
We've started second half very well apart from crap ref!
Ells header just too high and off bar and over.
Much better start but need to make it count

I'm at the game (live locally)
We look very poor
Defence is very deep and we're just lumping it forward every time
Cambridge are poor too but being at home they are edging it.
Goal was criss into the box and corr was unmarked on the 6 yard line, simple header.
Combination of crap defending and probably keeper should have at least punched it.
Not much more to say really. Gotta change it up second half, only sinclair looking like he's putting any effort in at the mo but to be fair to Ellis and easter they are just getting long lumped balls forward

Got a mate who is a posh season ticket holder, he says that they keep playing smudge at left back.... I told him he was a great attacking right back for us, but apparently Ferguson just keeps playing him LB and he's not been that impressive, giving 100% but he's obviously not a left back!

I've not watched a Rovers game for quite some time.
I normally listen on the radio as the 4 hour each way trip doesnt appeal any more
Last game i went to live was the Brum FA Cup game last season
From watching tonight we are bloody awful.
Gateshead have so much time on the ball to pass it around, they look like the home team!
There is literally no threat of our forwards scoring a goal.
Not that it is entirely their fault, there is no creativity or someone putting their foot on the ball in midfield
Balanta was awful (perhaps not fit so i'll let him off)
Sinclair runs around a lot and wont give up but thats about it
Apart from his shot i didnt realise Mansell was playing,
Monkhouse.... be better off with Bob Monkhouse out there!....
Matty Taylor?! Runs around and closes down but awful on the ball
Wall.... is he playing?
Blimey we have fallen a looooong way.....
