Just got back..
A wonderful time out and about, the weather was conducive for an apple roam and great to see establishments thrive in tranquility and anticipation of forthcoming match early doors..
An interesting time with some of you!
Anyhoos, onto some less important matters..
Are we on the beach? It was Blackpool!?
I would say, no but season is over.... but we now have little to play for, apart from pride. The risk is we slip into the paradigm of pre relegation form where a win draw or loss is irrelevant.....I know we're a working progress in transition, but there are certain dangers that come along with that.
We are back to a very quiet Mem at times.
I think the paragraph above very much lends itself to that.
Okies....keeper made some good saves, one punch out, but his general distribution and command of area, poor. Also his coming out of box belshaw- like left a lot to be desired.
It's now a given that opposition teams bang in set pieces under the crossbar, which he struggles with and so do our defence. I like Cox, he's young and energetic, will probably play at a higher level than we will ever achieve.....just old fashioned and prefer an experienced goalkeeper instead of blooding someone else's.
This leads to a change in continuity in defence. Nice to see Hunt back, who done ok. Just ok. I thought Connor Taylor ever reliable was off the pace, and Crama pending one disaster was pick of the backline that kept dembele and rhodes quiet. But the goals we conceded, I felt the whole unit could have done better..
Midfield missing Finley and I thought we done ok, but Blackpool were better than us, we most of the time lost our battles, Blackpool were quick to get the second ball and looked hungrier....we were again lethargic in possession, attacking and pace.
Pick of the mid, my m o m AE with a very hardworking performance. Strong player covered much ground and stick to captain's task well.
Well done CM....the goal tally continues with cheeky backheeled flip!
I thought Blackpool were well organised, pretty much outplayed us first half. I really liked their no15 left back with fair hair, we just couldn't get anything going down that side - LT switched sides for a while. Their keeper picked regulation catches out the air almost unchallenged at times, also made crucial save v LT.
People will moan at the officials again and rightly so....book a keeper for time waisting, but you're never gonna send him off, so he'll carry on.... baffling decisions left wondering why? And inconsistency..... I'm not sure about penalty shout but leaning towards yes, but it's AC isn't it and words got around....?
To conclude.
We are typical in transition club with new man working out what he wants and who he wants.... it's going to be ugly and simpering for a while. That coupled with the most horrendous injury list as it feels someone gets injured every match, is a recipe for beach football.
We're not far away from it.
Apathy await.
