Using the BBC cost of football, an average L1 player is on £2,500 a week, 20 goal strikers will be a lot more + signing on fee + transfer. Of course there's no guarantee he will step up (Richard Walker). A years extension at £3,500 would be a good bet.

From Mansfields latest match, there are 3 players left from that fateful day; Clements, Daniel and McGuire. Rovers have 5, Mildenhall, Lockyer, McChrystal, Parkes and Ollie Clarke, (Lee Brown was injured) A 6th, (Beardsley) now plays for Mansfield. They also have Scott Shearer in goal.

Steve Mildenhall came to the touchline in the firsthalf and complained it was dazzling him. I was concerned that they would turn it down/off at halftime. Seemed brighter in the second half or was that just me? The countdown slowed significantly after Wombles goal.

I vaguely remember something similar in the 60s at Eastville. A Rovers player shot, and while the ball was on its way to the back of the net the ref blew up. Think the player was Roger Frude, The ref might have been Ken Aston. I can remember Sandy Allen had a goal chalked off for the ref blowing up,buggered if I can remember who against though or if we were at home I've looked in the definitive history and I think it was against Gillingham 1969. Last game of the season.

Torquay fans have gone from laughing at him to loving him. Three goals, winning six points and giving them hope.

I don't think anyone has any genuine ill-feeling towards either, although it would have been nice if he had shunned the attention he got from the sh** (bottle of champagne...), but surely it's a game that would be great to win, for all sorts of reasons, especially the fact that they are now a rival play-off contender. And Daniel going back to them 2 weeks before we play is very interesting timing. Only issue I have is the way they behaved on the day. They were time-wasting and play acting from the minute they scored which was just bizarre when you consider that there is (was) absolutely no history between the club and that their season was well and truly over. Their RB was winding the West enclosure up, Steve Yates nearly came to blows with him. Think his name was Dempster but not sure. On that day Torquay didn't put up much of a fight against Wyscum.

It reminded me of when Phil Bater yanked Gerry Gows head back by his pony tail in the 76 derby at Eastville. Ref took no action, Gow chased Phil but could not catch him. Anyone else recall it?

"I was very surprised that he didn't play with wingbacks but wonder if that was due to James Clarke being unfit (was he?) but surely he could have played McCrystal."
I'm sure DC has said McCrystal doesn't fit a back 3. So without Clarke he has no plan B.

Form table put Rovers 2nd behind Cobblers, averaging 2 points per game. Continuing that will give Rovers 83 points; but it's not enough as Plymouth and Oxford on are target for 85. How can we be averaging 2 points per game when we have played 29 and have 47 points, that is 1.62 points per games which if averaging out over the season is 74.5 points last 10 games. www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-two/2015-2016/form-table-ten

Really thought the guy was a liability today, isn't showing why he should be in the team ahead of Clarke to begin with, seemed the only player not put his body on the line for the team, pretty disappointed tbf... You sound like JoeyB67.

Thought I would check out Yeovils penalty miss in the 90th minute, but it's not included in the BBC Hi-Lights. It must be a Hi-Light for Carlisle fans.

I thought it was a great interview. His job should carry a health warning after his description of the Barnet match. And Wembley where is legs turned to jelly. And the penalty shoot out, he was 7th in line and dreading it, I wonder who was 8, 9, 10 ,11.
