Not sure if he's been mentioned, but I wouldn't mind us signing Morton on loan from West Bromwich. He looked dangerous on loan at Northampton, chased everything, scored goals and was even making tackles in his own half. If West Bromwich go up, they will probably want to loan him out again. Expect Northampton will be after him again, but hopefully we would have a chance, especially with Garner's West Bromwich previous connections. Scored 5 goals in February and won the player of the month award. Then scored 3 goals in the play offs. Has said he wants to continue his development and score goals, even if that means another loan move away. 1 year left at West Bromwich and he is currently negotiating a new deal. Doubt he would consider a permanent move away, but you never know if he wants to kick start his career and get some stability. Certainly worth a cheeky bid, if West Bromwich go up. Daly choose to come and try and break through, when he could have stayed at Palace. I suggested the same in the play off thread, BG must still have contacts at WBA so he must be worth a call, as I doubt WBA will want him to return to Northampton next season. I agree he had success there, but they are very much a long ball team and launch every throw in and free kick into the box. They might want him to go to a club that mixes it up a bit and hopefully they see Garner as a good coach.

18-year-old Tyrhys Dolan the Preston U18 captain. 10 goals and 7 assists from midfield during 18/19 and impressed this season on loan at Clitheroe with 2 goals in 4 apps before the lockdown. Signed for Blackburn. I'm surprised PNE let him leave.

Interested to see what ball-playing central-midfielders we are looking at. One I'd love is Callum Camps (24), let go by Rochdale due to their financial situation. Been crying out for someone who can pick a pass and transition the ball effectively from defence to attacking areas. Would be an upgrade on OC, and four years younger.

I would offer the released Bristol City 19-year-old attacking midfielder Marcus Day a contract for the development squad. Caught my eye on loan with Paulton during 19/20.

Re those free agents from abroad, I got the feeling from a recent BG interview that whilst Tommy W and the recruitment department have beefed up their operation to scout and assess more players from Foreign Leagues they consider to be similar in skill, ability and physicality to L1, COVID19 had forced them into a rethink that now was not the right window to uproot someone from their country whilst they, their family and friends are having to deal with the local aspects of the virus. Never say never, but it suggests that they would be looking at players already plying their trade in the UK, doesn’t preclude us from, say, pursuing a German defender in Kent.

That is all more than likely and correct, but if the right player became available from abroad the only way to know if the player would be willing to "uproot" is to ask him directly. As you said, never say never.

Astonishing stuff from Pirate yet again.Hope our manager is reading all this info. Will be interesting to see how BG continues when the next season starts. After his disastrous record thus far softened perhaps by the win over Sunderland,he still has much to do to convince Gasheads he's our man. Nathan Jones up here at Stoke was of a similar style full of theory, formations and plans but his record was dreadful. Will be a lot of his own signings so a blank sheet from me with my full support whenever the next season begins.

I doubt Beckles even fits the bill of a ball playing CB you'd imagine BG's looking to sign. I

Taylor was in the Aberdeen team that ran Celtic close for the title Put up the keeper from Crewe he was player of year in 2015 and when McParland scouted fir us was on Rangers radar looks pretty good James Jones and Charlie Kirk are also quality at Crewe and I'd have them both here if possible. Jones a decent under the radar type of signing for Lincoln and should do well for them. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53313678

A couple of decent free agent strikers worth considering for us would be Valmir Suljemani and Tom Boere.
24-year-old 6ft 1in versatile left footed attacker Suljemani can play in a wider role or centrally. He has been capped by Kosovo at international level and previous to that represented Germany and Albania at youth level. Made 10 appearances in the Bundesliga as a 17/18-year-old. Scored 20 goals with 12 assists from 35 appearances during 18/19 for his German 4th tier side Waldhof Mannheim and scored 8 goals with 4 assists from 19 appearances for them (average attendance 7,647) having moved up to the 3rd tier with them for 19/20 following promotion the previous season.
27-year-old 6ft striker Tom Boere represented the Netherlands at youth level and came through the Ajax and Gent academies. He has an impressive total record of 61 goals in 119 games in the Dutch 2nd tier. Last season he was with KFC Uerdingen 05 (average attendance 2,216) in the German 3rd tier and scored 10 goals with 2 assists in 22 appearances.

Lincoln City just signed a player from abroad. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53405659Yes, just that the article I was referring to (by James Piercy 13th June) quoted BG as suggesting they’d wait for January and next summer’s window to start harvesting the fruits of their expanded European Scouting set up: “Speaking to BBC Radio Bristol, Garner revealed how lockdown has given him the chance to assess summer targets more closely with the aid of a recruitment company who have been sub-contracted to assist Widdrington and his scouting network. "I've worked pretty much every day," Garner said. "It's not been a productive period in terms of training and contact time with the players, but has been very productive in a number of other areas off the pitch. There's been an incredible amount of work on recruitment and the detail we've been able to go into. We were very strong on traditional scouting, eyes on the ground scouting. "But I wanted to add to that to give us a more all-round approach. So we brought in a recruitment company in January that doesn't just focus on data and statistics but also analyses games and provide us with a database of players from the profiles we give them. So that's been a really big help from January and particularly so during lockdown. Because, obviously there's been no football played, and no live games watched so that's been another string to our bow in terms of our recruitment. "We've utilised that alongside what we already had in place and that's given us a really strong recruitment department and will stand us in great stead for next season, in terms of the squad that we're looking to put in place." Garner made three permanent and four temporary signings in January, all under the age of 23, with the exception of Chelsea loanee Jamal Blackman, indicating the direction he wishes to take the club. With Rovers' retained list to be announced on Monday, the expected departure of experienced midfielder Liam Sercombe could also be followed by veteran centre-back Tony Craig, lowering the average age of Garner's squad considerably. In assessing leagues and potential targets, Garner admits Rovers' search has been across all domestic leagues, including academy football, but their radar into Europe and beyond has tried to focus on divisions with similarities to League One. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the economic and cultural fallout, Garner doesn't expect many clubs to be doing business outside the confines of English football. We identified leagues we felt are similar in style to League One in terms of the transfer of a player from a certain league abroad, how it would work in terms of coming into our league," Garner added. "We looked at past cases of that, how it's been successful - more so with Championship clubs - but adapting it slightly for League One. Where we made a shift was, because of the pandemic and the impact it's had, we felt it would be very difficult to bring players in from other countries during this window. I can't see many people wanting to move away from home, away from their families after what's gone on.
So we changed tack a little bit on that front, but all that work that we did will stand us in good stead for the January window and summer window of next year. "When we go abroad, Tommy and the recruitment team are (now) going to watch specific players for specific reasons. So it's made our process more efficient and more productive."
