Just a quick note about the IF. I have a lot of sympathy with those guys and they are knowledgeable and passionate gasheads.
This forum is not designed to exclude or divide. Quite the opposite. It is here for like minded fans to debate and discuss whatever they like. My personal feeling is that there is a lot of hate on other forums and while this is wholly understandable I feel it makes for quite linear debate.
It is simply not for me. Not yet anyway unless things change a bit. Hope you lot can understand and perhaps enjoy both sites.

I had no real reason to not use the IF, but the way I felt with us going non-league, and the OF going off-line it just made me feel so down. I think this means that a fresh start, new beginnings are the way forward.... we can still have a little bit of hope and a massive amount of fun....

Good to see some familiar names on here already.
Hopefully we can spread the word a bit and get some of the other OF regulars on here.

I've got a really good feeling about this forum I will promise you a few things. ALL Rovers talk will be allowed. Everyone will be valued and respected. It will be run by the FANS, by us. If you want something you will get a fair shot. If oyhers want it too, you will get it. No posts will be unfairly moderated. You want to say it? Say it. Sh1!heads will be banned and their email addresses and I P addresses will be published. Sh1!heads are wankers. If JTS takes up my offer, the FFS will reign free and independent here in its new home. Those are the rules. Mods will be added as demand increases. We dont need the OF. We just need eaxh other. |

Good stuff starting this forum Ras. I posted quite a lot on the OF and joined the IF under a new name (new start, new name) but despite a decent amount of very knowledgeable and interesting posters it felt like every time I read new posts was like hammering another nail into the Rovers coffin and preparing for our funeral... Yes the OF did get a bit repetitive (Cureton, Pipe, Ellington, Gary Johnson et el) but at least it didn't make me want to slit my wrists after every read. I'll continue reading the IF but hopefully have a bit more fun on this one, looking forward to a bit of gas chat again once the pre-season gets going and we start signing players and getting some news on the UWE. Yes we got relegated, yes we are worse run than pub team but our club will never die! Season ticket arrived last week and now I say BRING IT ON! Who's with me?!!!  |

Many people, including myself have been branded trouble makers or what not over the years for trying to make change. After John M resigned the SC were happy to revert to the old way, of the valuable and appreciated service of match day stuff and coach travel. They dont want the hassle The SC is outdated, but doesnt want to lose what it is comfortable with As for the fans directors, dont get me started. Just dont forget rhe board still have to ratify whomever is elected |

Any support of the Club is met with open derision to the point where, personally I felt better off not posting. (maybe that was the intention??) I did not really feel all that welcomed by some posters there and downright patronized by some others. I felt like every time I tried to say anything positive about Bristol Rovers I got a little pat on the head and a "you'll learn..." comment from the non-refugee fraternity. Its as so some guys really think they are better than me because they have been in on this big secret and now they can say "I told you so" and "I know best". Personally my ignorance is because I am just a normal guy. I pay my money and go to about 10 games a season. I show up, watch and comment on the 11 players I see and go home again. I have never really paid much attention to anything other than that its only been since I joined the OF that I had ever taken even the slightest interest in anything else. I only found out who BSS was a couple of months ago!! If that makes be a bad fan, then so be it. They way I see it is this, I KNOW I will never support anyone else. I will be a passionate Gashead up until they put me in the box. Players, Managers and Owners are going to come and go. I wont. Yes, this Board has made a god awful mess of things and yes change is needed but so help me I Dam LOVE BRISTOL ROVERS and I should never be told this is wrong. I genuinely wish you guys all the best and I really hope you all find a way to feel some kind of happiness in supporting Bristol Rovers again. You are not bad people, but some really really do need to lighten up before you drive everyone away. Good luck. |

Its difficult though at the moment with no signings, games or any actual building work to talk about much else Rovers wise and that forum well we arent into what colour are your lucky pants tjread or whatever.lol As a new mod there, we have discussed adding a match day thread, banter section from the heavier issues which might help Whatever foums are chosen i hope the Indpendent SC or BRISA is not seen as a board out group. Hopefully their launch will quell that and encourage people to join something a bit different |

Yeah, fair play to you for that. I just think it was a cracking opportunity missed.
I feel there is a place for pics of girls in pants AND heavy debate. Its unfortunate that anyone should feel the need to separate the two.
Matchday threads, Guess the Crowd, Player Ratings are were all well run and well supported features of the OF.
I loved some of the negs vs tinters stuff on the OF and also really enjoyed The Groundbreaking thread (even though it sometimes did my head in!!)
I certainly hope we get some strong opinions on here, even Sack the Board ones because thats what makes for a vibrant and realistic forum experience.

Nobody has ask the ones who failed to lead the cavalry charge this time. It's a different era in different circumstances that needs fresh minds, not ones who obviously are weighed down by so much baggage form the past.
If the SC is outdated, then fans should get in there and sort it out. Honest intentions will never stop making things better. Action speaks louder than words and is a much quicker way of establishing what is needed, rather than starting all over again. I think that those who are seeking to start an Independent Supporters Club should actually see if they can do it through the one that needs a refresh.
If the fans directors are not having the desired affect, replace them or withdraw them. Simple.
