I do apologise for posting this but am looking for support for my sons family after my 33 year old son Darren Hawkins tragically died on the 25/10/17 leaving 4 children aged between 15-3. Many of you footballers would have known or played with Darren who was from the Fishponds area. He was raised a Gashead and played 3 games at youth level before being released under Terry Connor and then going on to play for Bristol City, Tamworth, Forest Green, Bath City, Weston-s-Mare, Yate Town, Bishop Sutton and more recently Shaftesbury Crusaders. Many of you might also have seen the Bristol Post coverage of his loss. The Funeral is on the Dec 1st @14:45 at Westerleigh and the costs have been extensive for me and as a result there is no monies left to support the children which is extremely hard as they are facing their first Christmas without their dad and all he would have provided. I have set up a just giving page to try and help support his children and if anyone would like to contribute the family would be eternally grateful at this very distressing time. If any City supporter would like to share this on the OTIB page again I would be grateful. Thank you all www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/chris-hawkins-1?utm_id=2&utm_term=wa4jbYArd

Mate.
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my eldest son in April 2016 so I know what you're going through. The only comfort I can offer is the pain eases with time.
I have made a donation on your just giving page.
Stay strong for your family.
Best wishes mate. Oldgas.

He was in the year below me at school. I always though he was a City fan. I think there were a couple of other lads that signed with City with him
That year at my school also had Neil Arndale who obviously signed with us
will stick some money in the fund later

He was always a Gashead mate. Yes Neil was at Downend school and he was at Rovers with Liam Rosenior who got released with Darren and obviously went onto greater things.

When the Rovers played and trained at Frys along with Neil Arndale. Sekani Simpson & Ben Trace of Downend School signed for City along with Darren. Intrestingly Lee Zabec is his cousin and was just ahead of Darren when playing for Rovers. Attachments:

So sad to read of your loss - have visited the Just Giving page.
I would be happy to buy an extra Christmas present and post it to you, if you want to pm me with ages/gender of your grandchildren - and any ideas of their specific interests etc. Hopefully it will help to fill their Christmas stockings. Take care.

Echo what Tilly has said, also happy to get together with a few of us making a special food hamper if appropriate , happy to meet up with people, collect if local. Just a thought. My heart goes out to you Lympstone.

I've just been conversing with Tillys Thighs and Lympstone and we'd like to do a massive hamper for the family.
So, non-perishable foods etc for christmas. We will set up a night and we can meet up at a few designated spots to drop off the items. Thinking of maybe two weeks time? I can meet people at say Eastgate Centre car park, The Mem car park(or other, please suggest) if people are happy with that.
Lets keep the donations coming in on his JustGiving page for a family going through hell at the worst time of year.
Tilly - you're probably good at this, lets make a list of items people can get so we dont all get similar things.
