Hi all I had the pleasure of meeting Jon the Stripe last night when he delivered the hamper of all the goods you all so kindly donated for the children of my son Darren. First and foremost I have to say I was truly overwhelmed with your generousity when I saw what had been donated and for all those that did and those that gave to the JustGiving page and those that have offered such kind words I can only say you are all marvellous, the best fans in the world and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. It was hard to post my initial appeal as not something I would do but the vicar suggested I did it on all the forums of the clubs Darren played for just to see if we could get people to reach out and support the children. It's hard to define who needs help the most when tragedies occur as there are so many deserving cases but to see Darrens children's faces when I delivered the hamper this morning was a delight and I only wish Jon was there to witness it as it was a true joy. Their mother wanted to rush out and send thank you cards to everyone on the forum as it meant that much to her so I had to explain that just wouldn't be possible but I did assure her I would post her heart felt gratitude on her behalf today. I also gave her £1k from the JustGiving fund so she can get gifts for the children from Darren so they could at least open something from Darren on Christmas Day - it won't replace their Dad being there on the day or going forth but it will enable them to have something to remember and treasure from him on the day. The fund runs to March 31st if some want to still give before I close it. Thank you once again Jon for facilitating this hamper and the support you have given me and I wish all of our fans a very Merry Christmas and that 2018 is a special year you yourselves and loved ones. Thank you again www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/chris-hawkins-1?utm_id=2&utm_term=wa4jbYArd

Glad to see your feedback. My first instinct after reading the initial post was to go out and buy gifts for the children. Obviously, not knowing them, I realised it would be impossible to know what they'd like, so I gave to the just giving page instead. I'm so glad you used a good chunk of the money to get gifts for them. Any light in what must seem a dark world for them at the moment must be welcome. Look after them all (and yourself) My thoughts are with you.

Sorry for bumping but there is a great event happening at Manor Farm's The Creek ground next Sunday April 29th which should interest all football, cricket and rugby fans and their families. The Farm are playing Bishop Sutton in a Memorial benefit game for Darren ko 14:00 with guest players performing - some of these will be ex Pro players. The event which will include a football auction, raffle, sideshows, bouncy castle etc which all kick off from 12:00 it would be great to see people there thank you
