No but the media adds the speculation. It is up to us to put a stop to it or we let it escalate. . The media have done what they do with this sort of story.... I'm perfectly happy with this being resolved 'in house', as I'm sure it will be.... Will be? Why hasn't it been resolved already?

According to the press this is for the period ending in "early" 2016, assuming that relates to the tax year ending in April 2016, then it looks like the under payment relates to the period including after the Al-Qadi's took over ownership of the club in Feb 2016. I'm not sure the blame can be laid solely at the old owners doors, as shouldn't the new owners have ensured everything was in order, minimum payment wise, at the end of the tax year in April 2016. When you buy someone’s home do you pay up their debts afterwards with your own cash? Or do you ensure your payments are all correct and up to date? Oh..... This isn't about an home owners debts though but about employees pay, I assume the ALQ's took over the employees contracts under the TUPE employment laws so they would be responsible for any under payment come April 2016. Everybody seems quick to blame the old BoD but for all we know it might be the ALQ's who under paid them in early 2016 as the old BoD have not been caught out in the past under paying employees, perhaps that's why they've not made an announcement?

Feeling the Blues makes a good point though. Why didn't the current board comment? The obvious thing to do, would explain that this was under the old regime and that it has since been dealt with going forward under the current owners. The lack of any comment just adds to people losing faith in the board unfortunately and makes us look like we are still guilty. Perhaps they need to find out specifics or maybe there wasn't anyone available.... I really think it's daft to question communication on this as in reality it's an issue between employers and employees, and nobody else's business.... Well the goverment have introduced this deliberately to name and shame companies that cant even pay the minimum wage! I detest this goverment but this is a bloody good idea imo as it brings well deserved bad publicity to law breaking businesses. Some people might be quite happy with this but im saddened by this revelation about my football club.

I completely agree, by making examples of companies that do these things incorrectly will hopefully keep employers on their toes.... An example has been made, yes it's embarrassing, but I dong see why the club really need to go public on it.... Improve that area of business and move on....

Probably eastern Europeans under cutting our wages again roll on brexit Without wanting to derail this thread when have you ever been served by an eastern European at the mem? Roll on brexit where we pay 50 billion to be worse off. Personally that sounds great

What makes you think it has not been resolved already, can you point me in the right direction with this info in please The lack of any comment from the club confirming it's been resloved? why would they tell us the supporters ? Its an internal business transaction Did Sports Direct Broadcast tell all that they had sorted it by taking out a full page advert in the Times ?

SH could have quickly made a comment stating that this was about a period of time before the new owners and as such they were not in a place to comment. However since the new ownership the club have amended staff contracts etc etc.
Also....the figure of £1600+ owed to 52 staff...was that £1600 to each member of staff or was that the total amount due ? report was unclear on this.

Mike Ashley, the owner of sports direct responded yes. I hate the bloke but anybody with a bit of business sense would do that.

Wow, sounds like a lot on here have never had a cheap 'homer' job, a little cash in hand 'no tax' . Then expect the government to pay out all those benefits to people out of work ? I do wonder how a Country not in Europe exists, how can they work without a non elected bunch of money burners telling them what to do ? Brexit is the best chance for a great Country like ours to move on and up. Be brave people. The timid will always be timid fortune favours the brave.

I am thinking it was going to slide by like usual. Who were answering another poster who wasn't told to stop. Seems a bit overkill to jump on a single post out of the blue, that might not even derail a thread. It's only when a thread starts to derail I feel the need to threaten to send it to GC. And this one derailed while I was asleep, and then seemed to get back on track.
