If he plays out of his skin then he might get 10-11 goals like he managed for Peterborough. But then again, defenders have managed that or more at this level in the past! Two clubs have paid decent fees to sign him so real life professional football people have clearly rated him. All managers make mistakes. The first professional football person binned him off after a season and the second managed to get 2 goals from 45 appearances out of him.

Reading this thread I take it that the offer of unlimited conjugal rights with our better halves is no longer on the table for poor old Rory. Maybe that was partly the problem towards the end of last season; fatigue! 😂

Have spent the last few days at the cricket in Taunton and as you do I got into conversation with an Exeter City fan who was saying how good Nicholls was. I was saying how poor he was last season and he was talking about he was such a clever player who was really excellent on the ball. I don’t believe that he will have another season as poor as the one he’s had. Surely? UTG! I think he’ll be better next season but needs to learn how to hold off an opponent and win clever free kicks rather than just get shunted off the ball like a little boy. It’s a shame we haven’t got Easter still at the club in that respect he coukd teach Nichols all about that.

When Harrison gets sold for £1m + we will put Rory alone side Nichols up front... 30+ Goals Guaranteed

Or herpes; a lot of groin scratching going on in the stands at the Mem I have noticed!

I don't think Rory will here next season. I bloody hope not. Well, I hope he stays. Decent player who links play well and whilst he lost some form in the second half of the season, he's shown previously that he does have goals in him. He may not be the 20 goal striker everyone wants, but we'll do very well to find one of those with our meagre resources. Until we do, I say keep him, as he still has plenty to offer this team.

If we can move him on and free up some wages I would do it. If we want to improve on this season or challenge for the playoffs, we have to find better than a striker who scored 7 goals in 42 league one appearances.

Blimey why do some people seem to find pleasure in running down someone who’s been a solid player for us for two, nearly three years. I wouldn’t disagree with those that say that we need to be aiming for better quality if we are aiming for the top six but just say that without being so dismissive. The guy deserves respect for what he has achieved with us. Good luck to him whatever happens. UTG!

I've said many times in the past how grateful I have been for his contribution and when he does leave it will be with thanks and best wishes for the future. I'm sure 99% of gasheads would echo similar sentiments.

I hope he stays. He's my 8 year old son's favourite player. He got to meet him on the last day of the season and had his shirt signed. He made sure the photo of them became my screen saver on my iPad and iPhone ... my work ones too! (how do kids that age know how to do this?). I would rather tell him his mum had left us for another man than tell him Rory had left Rovers (unless that man was Rory of course). It makes me think about the difficult parent / child conversations that must have happened when a certain MT decided to sell his career ...

Rory had a very good first half of the season, then it did tail off but I don't remember him ever having a nightmare game. A level above Nichols - he's the one we should move on to free up wages !
