Is it just the UK, US and Israel that are malign influences? Is there any problem with other countries such as China which is buying up a lot of Africa to control natural resources that in turn fuels their regional expansion into the South China Sea at the expense of their neighbours (not to mention their environmental issues such as a market for poaching of ivory and rhino horn).
Much of the migration is from Africa and is down to poverty, climate change (watch out for those conflicts over water sources coming up) population growth and poor administration has parts to play too. Should we get involved now while we can or is using our aid budget a waste of money and we should leave them to it? Were we right to help with the Ebola outbreak for example?
Pirate, you do realise that Britisb exchange officers are actually restraining the Saudis in Yemen.
Would the Middle East be better off without us or simply different? We are not the only ones in the region.
We may not have an interest in other countries, but the people in other countries will have an interest in us sooner or later.
We can't live in isolation and we need to trade. For good or ill, we have to engage.

There is an upside to it all. It`s entirely possible that the situation could hasten the end of the EU. Countries such as Poland, Hungary and Slovakia, seem extremely disinclined to accept Mutti`s exortations, to take in their "fair" share of immigrants.

Hasn't that been averted for now with the immigrant talks the eu have just had ,why should the 3 countries you mentioned take a fair share ,i applaud those countries for standing firm on the issues. It's high time we bought immigration policy in line with australia and canada ,with things like no job don't come etc. I've had a good way with dealing with it that people say is cruel it goes like this, give em a short stay in empty barracks ,males go off filling potholes everyday and are given food ,clothes n a small amount of cash ,women keep the accomadation in tip top condition(don't start as many parts of the world this still goes on) ,those who refuse send em back from whence they came ,those with pre existing medical conditions send em back. So the ones who are left will willingly contribute to the growth of this country ,simple ,effective and cheap. As for those ships full of do gooders, simple deny them entry to european countries ,deny them fuel ,they will soon feck orf

Then let's start by paying full value for the natural resources we get from some of these countries and at the same time stop supporting fascist governments that plunder for their own personal benefit the money that does come in. Right??

Right?? I will say this again , we need to stop meddling in foreign countries and that includes installing Puppet governments and funding those countries as well as stopping so called charity aid as that creates more problems in the future ,paying worth is again a situation where in the future those countries lose out ,what i mean by that is whatever country you are in it costs x amount to live for a day(Lets use a quid as an example),so we buy cheap ,lets pay full price ,the governments w3ill either raise taxes or the business owners grow richer ,the buyers then say ok pay the workers more or we will buy elsewhere ,so now the workers get say 2 quid a day (can you see where this is going yet) ,Other suppliers want a slice of the pie so the cost of food has now gone up rents have gone up ,so those people are now in the same situation ,those who don't work for a company we pay full price to can't afford to live anymore ,the buyers find they can get a better deal elsewhere suddenly pull out leaving the country in a worse state than before(is this ringing bells yet). We are a small island in the grand scheme of things we don't have enough housing for the people here already so why bring in more ,as i said if people either have a job then hey lets get em here now ,if they haven't then they should stay where they are. You simply can't interfere in the world based on your own so called sense of morals

Are you quite mad? How do you think we managed to rule three quarters of the planet? Precisely

I'm afraid I do everything in my power to avoid seeing that thing.

I'm afraid I do everything in my power to avoid seeing that thing. And so you should. For literally billions of people, it meant subjugation and death. You can read all about it, in Oldie`s book. "Why I really really hate England, and it`s past."

I am afraid William patriotism is not defined by blind ignorance. Quite the opposite. The ability to acknowledge and learn from past policy errors is a indication of intelligence. What was it the Queen said in Dublin? "There are some things we could have done better, there are some things we should not have done at all" Whoever wrote that for her was spot on.

Wait till March when France will be under no obligation whatsoever to hold back the immigrants at their ports.
