Rumoured to be rejoining ex St Mirren boss Jack Ross at Sunderland. 22 goals last season. That seems an old rumour floating around a week or so a go but the Scottish sun columnist and ex player Tam McManus has this evening posted he is coming to us.

I only saw him twice last season against Dunfermline and Dundee Utd and on both occasions he didn't really stand out if I'm honest. He only scored 11 league goals last season in a division that is worse than ours. 22 goals overall, but 4 of those were against non-league Lothian Thistle, 2 against Hearts' U20 team and a further 4 against 3rd tier sides. The previous season 16/17 he only scored 1 goal in 22 games in the Scottish Championship.

Might be one of those players that creates space for others.

Rumoured to be rejoining ex St Mirren boss Jack Ross at Sunderland. 22 goals last season. Only 11 goals in 35 Scottish Championship games though which is really only Gaffers type scoring rate, although he seems to give his all every game which is something Nichols seems to lack.

If it was based on the little I've seen I'd be dubious about signing him, but that was only 2 games and the club/Tommy Widdrington have probably watched him extensively and feel there is something there they can work with.

That's actually very good for him. He only scored 5 goals from 50 Scottish Championship league games over the two seasons previous to that.

We've done Scottish players. It was not a success.

Sounds like a replacement for Gaffney. Sometimes you need a player who will run all day and hold the ball up, against certain sides.
If true, I still think we will sign atleast one more striker.

I think whichever player or players we sign as a striker will leave some underwhelmed as we simply are not in the market[financially] for a proven league one goalscorer imo. What dc will be trying to do is sign someone who has ability and could become a 15 goal plus goal scorer for us. Gavin reilly does fit that bill looking at his career record.

Looking at his form in the second half of the season, it appears Danny Mullen was preferred over him as a starter and he only managed 2 goals in his last 17 games.
