Financially - It's no different here than in the UK. As a normal person there is little to gain from investing money, so it's far safer to put it into bricks. It is cheaper to borrow money here. For example, I have just taken out a loan which is fixed at 1% interest for ten years. I don't think you'd find that in the UK. Is my job safe? Not really. It has already been 'mentioned' to me that they can employ two young Indian workers for the same money they are paying me. It has been 'indicated' that I should look into the early retirement package that will be made available in the next couple of months. I'm only 58, but it appears that they want to replace me. So be it. As for way of life, well, I tend to just be involved with me and my family. I like to live in a sort of bubble, and I tend to just let things pass me by over here. Pretty much the same with me, although I am much younger, of course😎 In my office we started out with over 3000 staff, over the years that has dwindled to about a third of that. So much so, we have closed off areas of the car park to save on security costs. Why? Outsourcing to India mostly and rumours of further reductions won't go away. So I too live in my own bubble of family and hobbies, such as Rovers and my interest in history and politics. Most other things are incidental. Similar stuff happening here. 25% of the workforce in my company are based in Prague. Even BMW have announced in the last week they are building a 1 Billion Euro manufacturing plant in Hungary. Mercedes have also announced they are building a second plant in Hungary. So, even these iconic German manufacturers are moving elsewhere.

With average hourly labour costs at just over 9 euros in Hungary and nearly 34 euros in Germany you can see why. Which is why free movement of labour is required to counter balance the free movement of capital. Counter intuitive to a significant number of people who voted leave on the basis of immigration.

More civil servants, organic farmers waiting 9 months for sign off, RAF Manston being turned into a lorry park without the road infrastructure, lorries waived through Dover, stockpiling of 6 weeks worth of medicines and preferential flights to ensure supply. Companies told to employ specialist staff and increased red tape. And more to come next week. Just as well this is a negotiating tactic and a way to bring dissenters in the Conservative Party to heel and back the Chequers agreement, isn't it?!?! Did anyone see Tom Newton Dunn's Twitter today? Apparently much of what was said still relies on the EU agreeing, otherwise it would be bad for us. So even our no deal depends on a deal. It's just Project Fear 2.0 Both sides lied and both sides peddled fear instead of facts in the Brexit campaign. Both still continue to do so. Our politicians are a disgrace.

But that was two years ago. As the facts and reality come into play and enter the debate, it's no use shouting fake news or project fear if those facts and realities do not fit one's narrative. Even if all the things that Raab introduced get done, and the remaining 50 directives promised equally so, it seems to me to be an incredible amount of effort to just maintain what we already have, for no quantified gain. In a word it's utter madness.

I have no idea what's happening at the moment.
The plans keep changing, the objectives are not clear, we have no idea who is actually in charge, and we don't know what will happen if and when the current owners of the project are replaced by someone else.
I was going to post this on the Stadium Plans thread on the main forum, but it's just as valid on here. So here it is.

It's all gone a bit quiet lately.
What's happening?
Whatever they announce will upset at least 50% of the population, give or take 5%.

I don't think anything will really happen until the last few months before the deadline. Up to that point, it's all posturing, then there will be almighty scramble, with the media building up stories of all-night meetings to thrash out an agreement. At the end, both sides will claim victory, when the reality is that there was never any conflict as such, and there doesn't need to be any 'victors'. Remember, the UK are just pulling out of a political experiment, nothing more. However, the politicians and media will always make it look more important than it really is.

You`ll be soooo disappointed if the UK continues to do what it always does, ( muddle along ). "In a word it's utter madness." That`s two words. I`d have more time for your arguement, if you could f**king count.

Anyone who maybe thinks the EU is a well-run worthwhile "project" should take a trip to the EU hq in Brussels and observe, and sit in on a plenary session in the main chamber. We did last week, and it really is bullshit palace. Absolutely dreadful. These EU politicians really are in cuckoo land. Either disband it, or kick out the politicians and have it run by business for business. And the latest economic news from france , germany and italy isn't good either. UTG.

What's the economic news from Germany and France? Italy- heading for recession. France - stagnating (again). Germany slowing down-drop in exports & manufacturing. But Switzerland +3.4%, Norway +2.2%, Iceland +3%. Source: national press last week.

Sweden might be heading for a Swexit vote soon too.
Lots of anti immigration and a (former??) neo Nazi party set to take 20% of the vote in the upcoming general election.
Seems to me that European politicians have completely misjudged the strength of feeling against embracing immigration and in dealing with immigrants not integrating into their new country.
