I have to admit Nobby, it was with a wry smile I read your post. Stating the disrepair of public services, both physical and service, you bemoaned their condition. I am sure would agree that the state of buildings within the education sector did not deteriorate that rapidly over the last couple of years. That smacks of underinvestment going back years. The same as the UK. That has more to do with the decisions made in government over a much longer period. Austerity indeed, and now the results come home to roost. And now, today, as if by magic, Merkel addresses the employment issue in Germany, business leaders there say there are more than a million vacancies, with a shrinking and aging workforce. I get that her generosity of spirit in letting in those number of unskilled people (if one accepts the presumption) against a backdrop of under investment in public services has caused issues. But you cannot blame immigration. Germany needs immigration, they say so themselves. Today in the UK, whilst not recommending preferential treatment for EU migrants post Brexit the governments advice from their own task force set up to recommend a policy advised loosening high skilled immigration caps, and loosening "mid skilled" immigration caps. Made me laugh, I can see business driving a coach and horses through that if it comes into force. Link: flip.it/YpeNGG Germany flip.it/Xnb0RK UK

Friend of mine with a wife and three kids, drove around in an old car. It was written off by a migrant driving a car with false plates. My friend, not having a lot of money, only had Third Party, Fire & Theft Insurance. He now has no car. No non migrant would ever break the law. Merkels Germany eh?

It actually is quite rare to find someone driving with no insurance as it is displayed on your number plate!

"Germany needs immigration, they say so themselves." The migrants were meant to be a solution to the rising age of the current population. A workforce to drive industry etc etc. Sadly, it is now quite obvious to the politicians that this claim was false. Germany still has an aging population, but it has added enormously to it's 'costs'....and that 'cost' can only go up and up.

I am contending the decision to allow all those refugees in as a response to huge problem, should not be conflated with general immigration, which, with respect, your post appears to do. For example Turks, and indeed yourself. That's general immigration, which adds value. The contention that immigration adds value has now been born out by the UK government's report released yesterday. Blaming immigration for a government policy of austerity plays into a particular agenda

You’ve made my day ha ha. You call a one sided condescending debate a ‘ passionate argument ‘ ? Oldie is never wrong and when he knows he is there is a deafening silence until he can drag up another little bit of bait. It’s not for me but I can understand why it is for some. I nearly forgot, me and my manners eh, Good Morning Oldie.

Of course I agree with that principle. But, again, it was an act of generosity from leading and dynamic western economy to those poor refugees at the time.

No. It was not act act of a leading economy, it was the deluded action of a leader (Merkel) who was, and still is, totally out of touch with the reality of day-to-day living. Oh, and we should drop the poor refuges' part. The vast majority are not refugees, but economic migrants.

That's a tricky one, are they ecconomic migrants because they have been made poor and lost everything due to war in their country or because they just want to get free stuff?
