The UK is paying $37 per dose of the Moderna vaccine. The EU is paying $18 per dose. Both buyers ordered 40m doses. The EU offered the UK to join its buying consortium, but the UK turned them down. This is the team negotiating Brexit terms of trade. That'll teach the EU. Who's laughing now, eh? Oldgas is celebrating the difference.

There is a chronic lack of decent hgv drivers in the UK, most young workers don't fancy spending days away from home, so there is an aging workforce in logistics. Rates are very high for hgv contractors who know their worth. Logistics is a booming industry in the UK, covid has made it more so.

Ratification workarounds are available but not everyone will be happy. Seems fish, Erasmus participation and a non discrimination clause (eg giving Germans preferential treatment over Romanians).
And if anyone also posts on the other forum, Basel's Churchill quote is wrong. He's fallen for a Vote Leave con. The quote used is actually two unrelated ones added together, the first half is from 1930 and the last half from the Second World War.

No comment on the vaccine price the UK paid compared to the EU oldgas ? You surprise me What price good PR, though. I suspect we tried to be ahead of the game for political, economic and public health reasons and paid a premium. Worth it? subjective at best and even that would be lost within the big picture. Either poor negotiation skills or a sign of a need for a good news story.

It's a no win situation,if we hadn't got ahead of the pack there would have been an outcry and if we hadn't paid the then price I can see the headlines " money before lives". If they have paid a premium then I think its worth it.

Anyone vaccinated early would be appeciative of it and I don't blame them really, I'm just an old cynic when it comes to politicians and their motives. In the long term, the price in any follow on contract would probably come down and there will also be other vaccines to help.

Is the Moderna vaccine here yet? I don't think it is. Which means we are most likely on the same delivery schedule as the rest of the EU. Are the millions of doses of the Pfizer vaccine delivered yet as promised? I don't think they are, so more bullshit bluster by this lot.

Bullshit. We gambled and paid up front before the vaccine was proven to work and proven to be safe. Naturally, with that sort of gamble we were able to secure lower prices. It's like backing a horse at 50-1 a week out but the odds are 5-1 on the day. So Oldgas, stop talking horseradish, per norm. For the record I 100% support the Government in taking that gamble. But it was a gamble and had naff all to do with paying for development costs.

I had posted in here how far ahead Moderna was but the government only invested into big pharma. After they announced they then bought 7m doses at a higher price.

Not Tory Chaos but chaos created by Macron. Even on today's news reports French lorry drivers as well as other nationalities who were interviewed put the blame for what's going on fully at Macrons door. So much so they were saying he should resign over it. One French driver even said the Sanofi vaccine won't be ready until late 2021 if the Oxford Vaccine was being transferred for use in France do you really think Macron would have closed the borders, and thats coming from French nationals.

I thought it was your bible. However, I think you'll find we're the only EU country to be administering the vaccine, but of course that had nothing to do with the fact we've left the EU. And the Pfizer vaccine has to be stored at very low temperatures, which means we're probably unable to store huge amounts, so have to replenish as we go. Who knows, perhaps they have to produce the vaccines in batches, so there's only ever so much in existence at any one time. Of course, anything not to your liking is the fault of the Bastard Tories and the uneducated oafs that voted for BREXIT, so all's well in your strange little world.

However, I doubt this will make any difference to you, and you will continue to blame everything you can on the Bastard Tories and the brain dead morons (all 17.4 million of them)
