Are the two full backs still with us? The loanee from Stevenage or somewhere and the player from Huddersfield who has had a long injury? Good to have Parts back and Sercs too.Need more quality and they both have it.Remember how comfortable they both looked against Wolves a year ago.

Imo Nichols played better than Riley but neither one of them was any good were it mattered,no strength and unable to hold on to the ball, but to be honest they get very little carved out for them to just finish, we still lack a genuine centre forward who either can work off, Payne is the nearest we have but i have been very disappointed, other than his first couple of games, with him so far.

If possible I would send Martin back now to save on the wages (although I doubt its possible) The BP reported yesterday that THD is nearing a return, so maybe we will see him in a development game in the next couple of weeks? Whilst Kelly got beaten a few times yesterday, he does look good going forward and I believe yesterdays formation, playing as a wing back, suited him better. Massive improvement on his crossing as well.

Kelly is going to be a great player for us in my opinion. He was brilliant last week against Coventry.
He is still young and very raw as a player and he will come up against better wingers in this league which will expose his inexperience. But he can take that as a learning curve and build it game by game.
I saw nothing in Martin that was any much of an improvement for his 200+ league games and we will only see him fleetingly in the next few months.

No one has scored regularly NO GOALS in 4 out of the 10 games this season - that's worrying. Bradford had conceded 15 in 9, Rochdale have let in 23 in 10 - if we don't score v these teams - a relegation battle looms ?

That is worrying but we have only conceded 11 the defence keeping us in with a chance in every game. Tony Craig has played a major part in this yet is criticised second only to Nichols on here

I'm going to say Craig is because at least in theory Nichols has age on his side so that he *may* improve. What do others think?

Ollie Clarke was immense yesterday. He needs to control his back chat to the officials as he is going to pick up yellows with his type of role so gifting a yellow for back chat is not best advised.
Craig was good and was very lucky with the clearance off the line, about time luck went our way.
Nichols ran his socks off but still has no killer instinct.
Bradford are in worse shape than us at present and were there for the taking, Sercombe could have made it a perfect away day at the end but overall happy to come back with a point, we should have won it though.

I think Craig was a brilliant signing as outlined in my previous post prior to his arrival last season we were conceding threes and fours on a regular basis this stopped following his arrival age doesn’t come in to it

As I said the conceding of 3 & 4 goals on a regular basis stopped on Craig’s arrival

Out of interest, goals conceded last season (working from his arrival date, no idea which games he played in)
BC (Before Craig) - 11011014012310141013133131241 AD (Added Defender) - 21211013112112110
Looking at that (regardless of Craig) I feel like we're actually in much better shape this season defensively, so far)
This season - 2212110110 (edit: we've actually conceded half as many goals this season in the first ten league games).

It isn't just all about one person, the defence is a team unit.

This is where Craig has made a difference. He does a lot of organising in the defence, and instructs the less experienced players as to what they need to be doing. Bonham in goal is improving things further, the defenders in front of him must feel so much more confident now.

Agreed it’s not all about one person but Craig is hugely experienced and I believe this assists the rest of the defence

Just seen the highlights. Craig was bloody lucky not to give a penalty away and not get sent off!

Just seen the highlights. Craig was bloody lucky not to give a penalty away and not get sent off! Seems a bit churlish. He saved us a goal and won us a point. Not sure why anyone would complain about that. If he didn't handball it, then he wasn't lucky. He got it right. If he did handball it (which I don't think he did, coz no one on the actual field seemed that interested in appealing), he got away with it. Good for him and good for us.
