Haven’t read what others have said didn’t want to read others opinions because I guess I know what’s being said. Drove up for last night and had to drive through hail and snow in Dorset for a short ten minute spell and didn’t get back until late, pretty miserable evening all in all. Ive only just felt able to come on here and see what’s being said.
Anyway fwiw my view.
.. We played well in defence and midfield for long spells and for the first half kept the ball on the floor, played to feet or space and Bennett and Rodman really worried Barnet.
.. Had Bennett scored instead of hitting the post, and he should have scored, it would have been a very different score. But he didn’t and we lost.
.. Wrap Bonham in cotton wool because with Smith in goal we will go down. Poor and gives the defence no confidence, he couldn’t catch a cold. He punched on two occasions and failed to really connect and we got away with it. Against a better team we could have been 2/3 down. He was poor.
.. As a team we lack the ability to turn good possession into clear chances. Against a poor team we should have been 2/3 up instead we’re out of the cup. Hey ho.
.. DC is struggling but tbh I don’t think he should be sacked. Many more last 15 minute matches like that and he’ll go but for much of that game I didn’t see that result coming. (I don’t expect others to agree by the way!)
.. SP brought little to the team last night. I guess he was unlucky he came on just as we collapsed. Probably not his fault but blimey is the guy fit because he doesn’t look like it. Not sure his problem is fitness or poor attitude.
.. We looked good at times but our midfield really gave some bad balls away esp Ed Upson.
.. Our attitude was awful. Barnet were a team there for the taking, if we had any leaders on the field we would have won that match 2/3-0. We didn’t have those so we lost. Quite pathetic.
.. Byron Harrison, journeyman, knocked us out of the cup for the second time in three years. Totally embarrassing.
.. I hope Tommy W has got a few players ready for January and that the owners agree to buy them.
Lastly bring back Lines, SS as soon as possible because you can at least rely upon their commitment. Not sure all had it in the last part of the match!
After the two and a half hour drive back home had a long time to think about what went wrong and hope that DC will get a reaction on Saturday. Now I’ll read what you’ve all beeen saying!
