Well cogs picked a side that looked hard working but without any creativity and vision and that’s exactly the performance we got I’m afraid. Pairing Clarke and agogo at home is like I pairing upson and Clarke ( see Wycombe home). We haven’t got much creativity in this squad , arguably only lines Nichols and sercombe and two of those didn’t start and the other was out of position. Got to start your most creative players at home , especially if your having trouble all season scoring. Very annoying.

Nothing that Coughlan can say tonight that makes me think we will stay up .... it’s not all his fault to be fair as he inherited an awful set up with very poor quality. Totally depressed with it all ... Agree lionheart, sadly have 3 season tickets in my wallet that weren’t used today and won’t be for a while. Disillusioned with what is going on at our club, we’re a rudderless ship and the latest stadium statement is again rubbing salt in wounds Latest stadium statement have I missed something? Or was that a joke?

I don't want to really bring it up again, but if it wasn't for Clarke-Harris's disgraceful penalty, this pathetic performance wouldn't be as crucial.
"I don't want to really bring it up again"
But I will do anyway...

That could have been a defining matchday. The bottom four as it stands all lost, the four immediately above the drop zone all won!

Not such a disgracefull loss. The two goals are coming from free kicks. We missed pace in the transmissions today. They had a strong defense but we didn't came to bother them enought. I liked the start. Too bad this unlucky rebound on Tony's leg.

For the second goal did Sercombe pick the ball up deciding he had been fouled and the ref penalised him for hand ball. Does Sercombe think he is a referee?

Yep, March looks tough. Plymouth Donny and Luton score for fun, and I'm not sure we can beat all of the other four Hmmmmm yes a bit worrying. Bad time to now face Plymouth. Puts a lot of pressure on to beat Blackpool as one of the most winnable on paper. Gillingham could be a must win away game..

But Jester was not first on was he so must be given another chance,! as for today disappointing performance no doubt ,dont mind losing but we should have been so much better, dont know what to do about our terrible home performances ,perhaps we need to try some kind of exorcism!at end of day it was a result most pundits would have predicted and there will be lots of twists and turns before end of season, don't panic we will survive!

But he said he was happy with this squad, I could see we were sh**e Don’t forget he’s happy with the squad, budget, stadium & training facilities Not his fault. What is a new mgr supposed to say in middle of the season, especially one who has never had a chance to be mgr before.

Sunderland have a very expensive, quality team. We were alright first half. Second half was dire. A lot were expecting this match to be a given for Sunderland. So today was no surprise. You can forget about Wembley unless they put out their under 23s
At risk of sounding like Darrell let’s go again next Saturday and start a 13 game mini season and see where we go. It feels already like we’re down so if we stay up that’s a positive otherwise we’ve got a good vote for next season.

I liked the start. Too bad this unlucky rebound on Tony's leg. Re goals from free kicks. That's professional football though. Teams can win via small margins and it's a footballers job to not give those small glimpses of hope. A better drilled team will not give unnecessary free kicks and corners away. It's part of football - you can't just sweep it under the carpet.

How do we go from giving Portsmouth a fight to this in a few days. The game on Tuesday was a real battle and imo the players looked exhausted at the end - perhaps that is some of the reason for today? What is worrying is that we have Sat/Tues matches all through March so the players are going to be tested

Portsmouth on a Tuesday followed by Sunderland is probably the worst fixture setup we could have been given.

Of course some of this is due to others being in the FA cup - Pompey and Donny fixtures both being rearranged

Sorry no excuses for professional footballers in February not being able to play 2 games of football in a week. If this was August maybe I could understand.
Sunderland also played on Tuesday btw

For the second goal did Sercombe pick the ball up deciding he had been fouled and the ref penalised him for hand ball. Does Sercombe think he is a referee? From my view it looked like he fell over and it hit his hand, and the ref looked like he was gonna ignore it, and then someone (Clarke?) kicked it back at him and it seemed to fall in his lap, or something.

Of course some of this is due to others being in the FA cup - Pompey and Donny fixtures both being rearranged I.e. those teams have played more games than us, so this fitness / midweek games argument doesn't really stack up. Bottom line is that I strongly believe we used to be fitter (or have more stamina...)than many teams [hence the late comebacks] and for some reason, maybe just the reality of two promotions, other teams now often look sharper, fitter and faster than us.
