www.efl.com/news/2019/february/efl-statement-coventry-city/EFL have given Coventry until 5th March to confirm their stadium for next season, if they don't they will lose their EFL status from next season. From a Coventry fan, " CCFC have made it clear that our only option is the Ricoh and of course Wasps still don't want to do business with the club while SISU continue the legal action." Puts things into perspective at times. At least the Mem is ours

Blimey.
So a reprieve for a League One side and presumably another automatic in the Conference?

As an outsider I qsuppose their best option would be to play their homes at Sixfields, they have done this before, whilst the legal action is completed.
I suspect Coventry fans would like to see the back of what appear to be pernicious owners.
You have to feel for them even though they have an overblown arrogance because they won the FA cup years ago.

Always the fans that suffer though isn’t it. They’ve done nihjng wrong and yet they’ll be the ones who end up watching non-league football because the club can’t sort itself out.

I still expect this to be sorted one way or another even if it means travelling far away for their home games. There will be a club out there who senses a money making opportunity so Coventry can keep their league one status.

If they do get kicked out I wouldn’t be surprised if Widdrington went in for a few more Coventry Players, if they’re out of the EFL they wouldn’t have a big enough budget to keep their best players / players will not want to play in the conference which could benefit us

Interesting to compare this to Tottenham......obviously not the same circumstances but shows why money talks.
Originally they asked the Premier League to play all their home games at New White Hart Lane this season...
Then they asked to swap a fixture or to from home to away as it wouldn't be ready until September...
Then they asked to play a couple of fixtures at Wembley until it was ready....
....then it was a few more fixtures, then it was every fixture one by one....
Not the same problem, but proof the authorities are flexible if you're a big enough fish.....

There will be a club out there who senses a money making opportunity so Coventry can keep their league one status. According to the Chief Executive, that this is not an option this time and I can't see the EFL backing down. "The English Football League have made very clear in writing to us that a groundshare outside Coventry is not and will not be an option," said Boddy. "Even if it was, it is not an option we are interested in. We want to stay at the Ricoh Arena." I also expect it to be sorted though.

Firstly it's the Premier League vs EFL, 2 different bodies. No matter what happens, Spurs have a stadium to play at. Either Wembley or New White Hart Lane. Coventry as it stands don't have any

Puts things into perspective at times. At least the Mem is ours Yeah, a lot of people doubting that moving into a stadium we don't own might not be in the club's interests.

It would be suicide for Wasps not to do business with SISU though. Its a white elephant of a stadium without Coventry City and a huge loss of revenue for the stadium company. If Coventry got back to the championship they would easily get 20k + gates. I think their average is 12k this year but recently had 25k+ for a game with Gillingham. Unfortunately that club has been mismanaged for years.
A very good point about the mem, but if you ever visit stadiums like the Ricoh, you will see how massively behind the times we are and how owning such a wreck can be equally as damaging to the club.
