I thought I would come back and post on the destroy the club and slag off the board forum.
Let’s start with a man ridculed on this forum, Tommy Widdrington.
Tommy got on well with Robert Rowan at Brentford who sadly passed away at 28 this year. It’s was this connection which gave us Bonham who we could have signed for free when he first joined but our management said no.
He was asked to find a full back, he found Tariq Holmes Dennis.
DC wanted a holding midfield player, Upson and Ogogo were put to him by Tommy and Coughlan backed up Ogogo but we got Upson. Ogogo was brilliant at Southend and we saw how good he was Saturday playing in his disciplined role and not a headless chicken.
We now come to the crap upfront who had only scored 5 goals in Div1 before he signed for us. Thank god we never had a forum when Gerry Francis replaced Penrice with a right back from Stoke. Carl Saunders fired us to the Div1 title. And Jonson’s 3 goal salvo in my opinion Saturday was a taste of what is to come and more.
Stefan Payne, Tommy told DC it’s wasn’t his choice, Paul Hurst told Darrell to sign him. Do you know who signed Nicholls? who again thank god Coughlan has worked a formula out to play him correctly.......Marcus Stewart. Marcus rated him at Exeter and went for him over Lyle Taylor who we agreed a fee on as well.
So the man ridiculed on this forum, I look at Bonham, THD, Ogogo ans JCH and see 4 players who will keep us us but we can’t apppaud Tommy or the club.
What does Tommy do?

P.S we can’t blame Tommy either for giving us 6 centre halves and 7 central midfielders and blowing the budget like this. It was DC’s choice resign the majority of these players and waste his budget.
I hope one of his star signings takes us to Wembley tonight, he might have paid for his pittance wage then but still no credit

Although haven't you started the thread a bit prematurely as we haven't got to Wembley and neither have we secured our status in Div 1.

No he was asked to find players and now the right manager is getting the best out of them and I would argue all 4 are some of them.

Hi Tommy.
Well done for reusing your recommendations from your former clubs. I support recycling.
P.S How's your son getting on in the development squad?

Just to clarify I’m not hiding behind a user name in my pants in my bedroom. I’m Paul Colley, as I said a lot know me on here anyway having played for the forum side.
Got a suit on heading into London on the train, no Banned word hiding behind a user name making sly digs.
I hope some of you have changed your pants.

So what your view on the owners failing to deliver a decent stadium or training ground and Keith Brookman being shown the door?

So just to clarify, all the sh** signings made were DC but every good player signed was down to someone else. Add to that the lucky promotions he got and we can all agree he doesn’t deserve a scrap of credit.

Didn't Lyle Taylor go to Charlton on a free - presumably when you say we agreed a fee that was in one of the prior transfer windows? I do wonder whether he always wanted to stay in London and would never have joined us anyway? He would have picked up better wages and signing on fee waiting til he was a free agent. Perhaps we'll never know. Shame as he's a terrific player at this level.

This post is way too premature. Bottom line is we are bottom 4 and not at Wembley. It seems a little bit easy to say all the good signings were widdrington and all the sh**e ones were dc. And to commemorate our head of recruitment on jch as being a fantastic signing after 3 games is a bit of a joke. Let’s judge these signings in May and keep our willies in our trousers until then.

I think the board should have done better due dillgence on the ground and I think the training ground is part of this, the board have failed to deliver a new ground. But if the board manage to retain our Div1 status for a second season they have done more than Dunford and Higgs ever did. I then give the board grace to find a new solution for the ground or sell the club. Re Keith from my own dealings I tried to win the printing of the programme contract for many years but it was a closed shop. Pensors Press in Wales had the deal, between me and Curtis Sport we saved the club a fortune with Tom Gorringe on the programme printing and design, BRFC is a commercial business. This is just one thing Keith never liked, the club had to get the designer go as we saved it 6 figures on the deal.

Eric on Lyle Taylor we agreed a few of £200k with add ons, he was going into the last year of his deal at Wimbledon. DC wanted him but went with Marcus Stewart opinion which is fair enough

I can’t give proof but Paul Hurst and DC are big mates and they listen to each other’s opinion. Ellis went to Ipswich and we needed a striker. DC asked Hurst his opinion on Payne and Rodman and in fairness Rodman is decent

We have got no where near that under the current owners.

Re his son, I guess this is called nepetism, we’ve seen it before with the Johnson’s and Clough’s but are we hanging a bloke on a £500 a week wage or so?

Under Dennis’s stewardship, I should have mentioned Geoff who took us into Div2 for the first time in our history with the appointment of Gary Thompson. Dennis’s tenure was the best achievement in the clubs history
