796 people have died, homeless, on the streets of the UK, in 18 months since 2017.
So proud.
Same party that led us to Brexit.

They must have been safely tucked up in all the council houses built by Blair and Brown before the Tories came to power and threw them on the street?

Compare and contrast (on the options) Whilst you are doing it you could do The same for Brexit. After all, that's what a democratic debate demands. I am sure you might agree.

Isn't it just. I cannot believe this is my country. Plenty of lefties claimed to be willing to house Syrian refugees, the likes of George Ferguson and Lily Allen for example, but I don't recall many ever following through with their promises. I can't remember many offering to help British homeless people - that would surely have been a more humane and positive course of action than using them as a political football? Do you happen to have any spare rooms Oldie and have you ever considered letting someone use it on those cold winters nights? You may have saved one of those 796 lives. Shameful.

I presume you didn't?

Don't want to answer my question then? Quite amusing from someone who continually demands answers to questions they've posed themselves.

Very much like the education system and health service, austerity has had very real consequences that are evidenced here. And on austerity and healthcare heres a sobering fact. I cringe when I hear NHS as envy of the world. It's not. When you consider mortality rates for diseases that should not result in mortality if correct intervention is applied it's not even in the top 10 any more. Not even in the top 20. Its 30th. Let me frame that for you. We are among the worst in the western world at preventing avoidable deaths.

It's the same bullshit headline the nationalists always come out with. It's all great here. Anyway..thank you and keep up the good work.

Perhaps it's the envy of the world to people who cannot afford the private healthcare in their own countries? If it needs more funding the money has to come from somewhere but I can't imagine anyone is going to volunteer to pay more tax so how will we fund it? Endlessly spending money we don't have like the last labour government is not an option.

If you don't like to talk about it why do you insist on asking others what they do to try and alleviate poverty?

Seems to me, you`re in a pretty dark place right now.

You created a thread using homeless people as a political football to have another pop at the current government. I merely wondered what positive steps you had taken to help the problem, your silence confirms you never considered giving someone some shelter which would have been the most genuine and sincere way of showing you really cared.

Endlessly spending money we don't have like the last labour government is not an option. Germany has Health Care Insurance. Off the top of my head I think it's about 15% of your earnings (with a set upper limit) with your employer usually paying half. There are two types. The Government Health Insurance or a Private Health Insurance. Unlike the UK, if you want the Private one you do not pay for the government one. You just have to have one or the other. The government insurance is cheaper (not a fantastic amount though), and the Private insurance does usually get you better conditions and maybe quicker treatment, sometimes. If you are unemployed then obviously it gets paid for you by the government. When you talk about Health Insurance, not every country is like the USA. Germany has Gold Standard Health Care. Germany also has loads of homeless sleeping on the streets as well. The subway stations are packed at nights. Germany also has a very attractive benefits policy.
