Reilly and Jak don’t keep the ball full stop. Reilly does nothing except score the odd goal and Jakubiak is a dreadful player who just puts his head down and runs with the ball straight in to trouble near enough every time.They might well improve with time but that’s how I see them so far. Very harsh. Based on last night you are right, but he's shown what he can do in certain games (Oxford springs to mind) and it wasn't that long ago you wanted us to spend good money on him in January! I can’t remember saying I wanted us to spend a lot of money on him. He was very good v oxford but hasn’t impressed me since or before that although I’m aware he played well in a couple of check trade games that I wasn’t at. Like I said he’s young and may well improve though at the moment from what Ive seen his first touch is poor, he doesn’t get his head up and look and just runs with it losing it the majority of the time. Not league 1 standard yet |

A few posts have mentioned the travel to Donny as a reason for the heavy legs/ slow start - I passed the coach near Gloucester before 10am, so there was time for them to chill and prepare - it wasn’t like it was badly planned and they just rocked up at the ground straight off the motorway at 7pm!
I was more concerned that in the pre match interview there was talk about expecting to spend long periods without the ball, and defending. I think this translated into the way we stood off and let them control the first half in particular, rather than getting stuck in and ready to battle as we have done in recent matches

It was a bad result. Analyse it all we want, tactics wrong, mistakes, whatever, we go again Saturday and what we really need, is 100% behind them, not just this match, but every single goddam one right to the end. We are the 12th man. Come on Rovers!!!

I knew certain fans would get on gc’s Back when we lost..absolutely ridiculous after what he’s done, Remember he’s inherited this team and when he had a window and January rarely being a successful one had brought in two good players.. He went with a attacking team and we conceded a lot early on due to us not being up for it enough and probably being over confident with our recent away form and donny came out the blocks flying..which this team struggle with.. We haven’t got enough quality in midfield or defence to cope with that. Upson is a waste of time to me, he never picks players up and sits too deep. Nichols isn’t the answer for us next season and we need wide men. I could feel a big defeat coming as we’ve done well but rhode our luck recently and not marking and giving them space to receive a ball and then give them space to turn? Your stuffed as a defender in this situation. I’ve said it before if Flynn came to us we wouldn’t be so critical and still hailing him a hero and as it’s GC who’s still classed as backroad staff who’s winging it is the wrong attitude to have, People have short memories as if it wasn’t for him we would still have payne and bottom of the league No evidence of that. Also an interesting way to spell "road"! |
