Can I offer you a lift up to the suspension bridge? Far to impactful and public. Best to leave that sort of self aagrandiosement to the Nationalists. Quiet night in with a Scotch and Opioids for me.

I've never believed that Boris is anything like the clown he chooses to portray. This is a bit of a read, but very entertaining, well-written and illuminating. Jeremy Vine on Boris Johnson

I do believe that if the Iranians push things too far, they will be crushed. Iran is surrounded by US forces. Targets have been identified and if the US strike, it will be over quickly. I also believe that the Iranian military capabilities have been over-stated. I don't think they actually have nuclear weapons. Israel will step in first to stop that just as they did with Iraq.

I have a slightly biased view. But I do not think the Iranians are stupid enough to believe they can win a war with the USA based upon the technological capabilities available to both sides. They will try and drag the USA (and its allies) into a land war where, given their land mass and population levels, a committed population at that, the death toll on allied forces would be horrendous and politically untenable. By contrast they dont care, dying for their country being a badge of honour, as the western backed Saddam found out 1980-88.

But they`re determined to stop them from getting it. Iran have too many enemies in the region. Saudia Arabia and Israel; strange bedfellows.

That's right. Israel is just watching and waiting. As soon as their Intel says that Iran are close to producing a nuclear weapon, the site where it is being manufactured will be obliterated. It would also not surprise me if Saudi allowed Israeli aircraft to fly through Saudi airspace as well. The Israelis have previous, having bombed both the Iraq and Syrian nuclear plants.

Oh no I've already bought my season ticket. Do you think I could get a refund?

Oh no I've already bought my season ticket. Do you think I could get a refund? Not sure. The club may consider that nuclear obliteration is preferable to the rubbish we were forced to watch, for most of last season.

Well sir, if you think the Shia across the region would stand idly by, if you think Hesbi eh Allah will not turn Lebanon into flames, did I mention the Shia in the UAE? When will the West ever learn, you attack one Muslim country, you attack them all, (subject of course to Shia / Sunni politics). I fear an attack on Iran will set the whole region on fire. And for what?

And for what? Well, Iran is spreading war and hate throughout the region. Be it in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Gaza and now Yemen to name a few off the top of my head. At some point, someone is going to turn around and bite them. Iran really should pull back, otherwise they will have nobody to blame but themselves. The pictures being released by the US do appear to show Iran was responsible for the attacks on the tankers in the Gulf. If the US released those, then I'm pretty sure they have even more damning evidence available that they haven't released yet. You cannot always sit back when someone else is spreading war and hatred around.

Also, if you box the Iranians into a corner, or any country for that matter, what do you expect. Anyway, let's not dive back into that topic, he!

The Iranians are not 'boxed into a corner' though are they. They are spreading war and hatred throughout the region. Once again, Lebanon, Gaza, Syria, Iraq, Yemen.........They are using others to attack Israel and Saudi via proxy. I think the Iranian 'meddling' has gone too far. They are now attacking Merchant Shipping in International Waters. Your attitude of 'what do you expect' is strange. Iran is causing huge problems in the region, and you think we should ignore it, otherwise we may upset them?

Honestly, if you were to visit and see the impact of sanctions on the economy and on the general well being of the population, you would find the term "boxed in" very appropriate. I have no doubt that through their shared religious beliefs they spread an anti west narrative, but then we support the Saudi's, both politically and militarily. We can hardly claim the moral highground.

We can hardly claim the moral highground. Nobody is claiming any moral high ground, but if the Iranians don't want sanctions then all they have to do is to stop their terrorism in the region. It really is as simple as that. The sanctions have been imposed because of their spread of terrorism. So if the sanctions are biting, the Iranians should export more terror? The solution is in their own hands.
