I’m trying to work out where some of our fans sit now on who they actually support...........I am actually reading some fans are going up to Walsall next season in their spare time?!
I was brought up watching us at Twerton, it never crossed my mind to go and support QPR as my second team when Gerry left with 4 or 5 of our players.
We get a man in who on form in his games finished us in the top 10 and saved us from certain relegation. We are told he plays terrible football, it was pretty terrible against Donny when we lost 4-0 at home.
This forum has become obsessional about the previous manager and players released. I am embarrassed I had to even go to Dover that awful day when Puddy threw ball in our own net. This forum is the anti Bristol Rovers forum.......hammering the club over ball boys when loads of top clubs use academy kids to do the job. Hammering the club over car parking spaces, score board, it’s literally anything.
It’s not perfect off the pitch, they should have done their due diligence on the UWE. Am I really bothered we have done our accounts yet? not really. I am more bothered we kept our Division 1 status and I get to go to Ipswich next season over Salford.
We all want better, I’m sick of the crap blow dryers, queue for a beer, no pasties but at the end of the day I support Bristol Rovers as I did at Twerton and not Darrell Clarke FC.
I hope he does well at Walsall, I hope their fans warm to Sincs running around their pitch but I hope Alfie Kilgour becomes the next “one of our own” much more. Some will be happy I honestly think if Cogs starts slow so they can have a go at him and the board and Walsall are in the top 3 of Div2.

Who the hell would go to Walsall in their spare time just because DC is there?

Who the hell would go to Walsall in their spare time just because DC is there? Someone who lives down the road probably.
Agree with much of the OP

If only everyone was exactly the same eh, what a wonderfully boring world that would be...

I wonder if the word 'class' is in roadman's dictionary.

Well I certainly won't be going to Walsall anytime soon! That is for sure! But I certainly see where said people are coming from.
DC represented the resurrection of this football club from the abyss (almost literally) and I certainly hold him in very high regard.
Coupled with my fondness of DC is my disillusionment with the future of this club at the moment. It feels to me that since the departure of the likes of DC, Yates, Bodin, Harrison etc etc this club has been dying slowly over the last 12 months or so. The departure of Locks, Lines and SC for me was the final nail in the coffin of the last 5 or so year period.
We currently have a manager that I (and many like me) have not warmed to, this feeling has been compounded by the seemingly very poor treatment of one or two club legends that certainly have not adhered him to the fans. We also have a board that (as far as we can tell as we have not been told otherwise) are content to let the club fester in it's current surroundings with no sign of progress in developing our training ground and certainly no sign of a stadium being built anytime soon.
With all of the above in mind, is it really any wonder that people are looking towards Walsall and remembering fonder times? I know I certainly had a nostalgic moment watching DC's first press conference as manager of Walsall and I on't blame anyone else that did the same.
It doesn't make you any less of a fan of this club to have a soft spot for players or staff that have moved on to pastures new* .
* Unless it is BCFC of course, then they are dead to us.

I support Bristol Rovers. I'm also interested to see how DC gets on at Walsall, I hope he does well. I certainly would not want them to beat us however if we played each other.
However I'm glad that I have a sentimental streak and I can appreciate those who would watch Walsall if they had nothing else better to do. I have always followed former Rovers players and managers careers with interest after they've left. Does that make me any less a Bristol Rovers fan? I support England when they play. Does that make me any less a Bristol Rovers fan? Personally I'd like to think there's nothing wrong with that.

Roady has a point though.
If Walsall get promoted next year, and we stay in L1, we will be playing them. Where will loyalty lie then? I can guarantee that DC will want to beat us.
DC is history now and BRFC have a new man in town. Like him or loathe him, we need to support GC and see if he can take us up.

He has a point ONLY with regards to any Gasheads who actually would prefer another DC-led team to beat us. I've yet to see any Gashead actually say that?

I do agree with some that there appears to be a higher than usual level of interest in our past manager
Maybe it’s the deluge of information we all get nowadays from social media - everything is instant, ripe for comment and discussion
There was never a majority calling for DCs blood so I get the residual interest and admiration
But make no mistake - if Dc had remained we’d be playing Walsall next season
And maybe facing him and his team - how much love would remain then ?
We are the Gas and that’s it

Where were you looking “believeit” when Barnet knocked us out of the FA Cup? And where when Alex Jakubiak scored a wonder goal at Swansea when he wasn’t even our employee when Marcus Stewart publicly said he need to learn how to score the taps in first when Marcus in fact had given Nichols 75 attempts at tap ins with 2 conversions? Where were you looking when Donny beat us 4-0 at home?
So you never warmed to the new manager who picked up this pile of rubbish, the same rubbish as above and converted Jaks into a player at Oxford. You never warmed to the same lot with 2 additions who people laughed at that went onto finish in the top 10 on form.
We all know off the field isn’t great, what’s your opinion on Liverpool and Man City boys letting academy boys be ball boys?! But I have supported this club for 34 years and I won’t keep hammering at every occasion. I have a massive list of wrongs with the club much more than right things but I live in hope new investment comes in and maybe a new board. I also hope against all the odds Cogs galvanises us like Gerry did at Twerton. I don’t know if you went to Twerton but what I do know is in adversity at times you can still make things good.
Get behind the club, I will for my 35th season but like a women or job, if it’s really that bad I always say, stop moaning about it or do something about it.

Don't get the OTT love-in with DC.
Yes he was a good manager, yes he got us 2 promotions.
But to go to Walsall in their spare time is just weird. Who will they support if we draw them in the F.A Cup?
Strange, very strange.

Strange, very strange. People on the Appreciation page on FB saying they will go to Walsall. John Thompson and Pirate Cringe TV went to Wycombe to film Bodin with Preston, mark my words you will see Walsall shirts next season in some form, the new Sabadell.

Obviously anyone genuine on here’s loyalty lies with Bristol Rovers. It’s frankly ridiculous to suggest otherwise just because people might be saying they’ll be following Walsall’s results to see how DC, Stewy and Sincs are getting on and hoping that these much-loved former Gas legends do well. Some people are so keen to see things only in polar opposites.

Strange, very strange. Some people go to Shirehampton in their spare time. I wouldn't personally, nor would I go to Development Squad games, nor would I go to watch Walsall. I won't judge those that decide it's for them though. I still will look for their results with interest, but only after I'm done with my Rovers fix. Is there anything wrong with that? These things don't have to be mutually exclusive, which is what some fans don't seem to get?

Can you prove that statement about Puddy taking a bribe to throw the game? If not I suggest it needs taking down
