People are on the pitch they think it’s all over. It is now. Poor old Jason Roy he was never out, cheating Aussie bastards! UTE! Yes shame about Roy because he deserved his century. But what a performance from England...superb.

Don`t think Smith and Warner are going to be allowed to forget past transgressions. And looking ahead, it`ll be interesting to see Archer bowl on fast Australian pitches, when next we tour Down Under. A taste of their own medicine could be on it`s way.

Fantastic day, and what an atmosphere ! My personal opinion is that Warner and Smith should never have been allowed to play professional cricket again, yet alone play for their country! The third guy involved is currently Captain of Durham? Also, with the whole ball tampering episode the bowlers must have known what was going on. It gave me a warm glow when Roy hit Smith for those three sixes. Yes, Archer and a fit Wood will be very interested in Aussie pitches I think. I did say earlier yesterday it looked like a 300+ pitch, and England proved me right!

That game yesterday proved we can chase as well as posting a score.
Its 50/50 at the toss, bat or bowl? I think who ever wins it will bat first.
But of the previous 66 ODI's at Lords, the team who won the toss and batted first 30 wins (47%) bowl first 32 wins (50%)
Literally nothing in it.
Can't wait, gunna be chopping & changing between the cricket & F-1!!!

I think a year`s ban was just about right. Players have tried to change the condition of the ball, since the game was invented. One of our own captains from recent history was hardly blameless, was he? Taking sandpaper onto the pitch and using it on the ball in full view of the tv cameras, was as stupid as it was brazen. But, Hell, they`re Australians. By the time that the Ashes series is over, they may well wish that they had been banned for life.

Agree with you about players changing the condition of the ball.
I think it was Jimmy Anderson got warned in the last Ashes series about it. I think he was digging his nails into the seam of the ball to help it swing.
I also remember Anderson quite a few years ago would chew on some humbug sweets, then with the saliva rub it into the ball, again helping it swing, think that was the 2005 series?
If they can get away it they would try it.

Mike Atherton got done as well - think he had grit in his pocket to rough up the ball. Twit !

Absolute stupidity from the three of them. I think the bans were on the severe end tbh, the bigger scandal is Amir still playing despite being a match fixer. How that doesn't qualify for a life ban is beyond me. I don't care how young he was, he will have known full well what he was doing was corrupt.

So the big day is here! Hopefully we can get over the line.
Its days like today where living in a part of the world where Sunday is a weekday causes problems for me! I'll be able to get back home towards the end of the first innings.

She Who Casts No Shadow and Mini Me have been dropped off at the airport, and I am now home to watch every ball......bliss. Surprised NZ opted to bat. It looks difficult early on and the pitch should flatten out later.

Nothing happening for Rashid. Should Stokes have a bowl instead?

There seems to be no urgency from New Zealand. Is that good bowling from England? Or, is it New Zealand reading the pitch well, as they did against India in the semi's?

Just before the third wicket 😀
"Andy Zaltzman - Test Match Special statistician
Liam Plunkett has only taken nine wickets at his tournament but every single batsman has been a top-five player. Eight of those wickets, the batsman has been on 30 or more.
He gets out good players, who are well set."
