West Indies just like Pakistan seem to pull these out at major tournaments.

Spoke too soon, Australia win by 15 runs. Good attempt by West Indies though.

There was that, but they were well ahead of the run chase until Andre Russel lost his head and tried to hit every ball for six.

Like the whole of India, I am uncomfortable with the 'Umpire's Call' decisions regarding LBW. In cricket, surely you are either Out or Not Out. I don't understand why Cricket has allowed itself to make decisions based on an opinion.

I don't understand why Cricket has allowed itself to make decisions based on an opinion. To be fair, a lot of decisions given in cricket are made on opinion. If you had six umpires at the non strikers end, three might give a batsman out LBW, and three might give him not out. But I agree with you about Umpire`s Call. To me, it takes away a lot of the spontaneous pleasure of the game.

England have two 90+ MPH bowlers of our own.
Mark Wood & Jofra Archer, Archer if I remember correctly bowled a ball of 97 MPH in the IPL.
He's the bowler the rest of the world doesn't want to face. This is where England have the best batting ling up in the world.
We can bat right down to number 11, the rest of the world can't, they bat down to only 8/9. So we can keep going despite losing early wickets.
If we can get Archer bowling in a test match, things would be looking rosy there too also.

The point I was trying to make is that in T20 cricket, pace off the ball seems to be king. Quickies tend to get hammered to all corners. I don't want that spreading to the 50-over game.

It's the problem where someone is either Out or Not Out depending on the Umpire's call. When Chris Gayle was finally given Out yesterday, if the Umpire had said Not Out, and the Aussies reviewed it, it would have been Not Out based on Umpire's Call. How can you have a situation where the exact same delivery can possibly return two different verdicts? It should either be Out or Not Out.

It wouldn't surprise me, they've been "caught" before.......

Asked about the state of Pakistani cricket, he replied that their wicket keeper would start appealing, the minute the plane left the ground in Karachi.

Yes the World Cup is important but... it pales into insignificance compared with Somerset CCC winning again and being well clear at the top of the Championship.
Back to the WC, what has been a shame so far, apart from the weather, is that we’ve not really had a close match. I think there’s been a few matches where going into the 40th over it was 50/50, Aus v WI, Eng v Pakistan and Aus v Pakistan but come the last 6/7 overs it had become clear who would win. I look forward to a match going into the last over with the result being unclear.
At the moment NZ has done very well but they have played the weakest 3 teams so far. So I’ll say one of England, India and Australia will be the champions. England are the best and most exciting team but India are very strong and Australia will grind out results.

Blimey, England have blitzed the Windies with fast bowling. It's been a long time since England have had bowlers with this pace. Wood and Archer were outstanding. Three wickets each. So let's see how the Windies quickies get on.

Yes. Root was very good and is a class act, bowling and batting. Was convinced WI would give them a much harder game, their fast bowlers had looked much better against Aus and Pakistan yet All our batsmen made them look ordinary. Should give confidence a big boost after that performance.

Tie of the round tomorrow, India V Pakistan. Really looking forward to this game. Apart from the England games, this is the game I've been looking forward to the most. Just hope the weather is OK, think its meant to be dry!! Fingers crossed!

Even the Pakistan players would think twice, before trying to spot fix this one.
